Safety First with refillable propane tanks - Fue Kegs fit the bill.
Previously I have been refilling Bernzomatic canisters but this really is a time consuming and indeed dangerous task. It can be done by freezing the empty tank and using the adapter and inverting the 9kg tank to transfer the liquid gas. But after you have done this 3 or 4 times the cans start to look like they're becoming dangerous with rust spots etc. and with only a sip on plast cap to protect the thread or prevent valve leaks, I was never really confident in refilling these. So, started to compare the Fuel Keg product versus the Flame King product. I went with the Fuel Keg as it is a more recent design, and I am very happy with this choice. It really does take less than 2 minutes to refill the Fuel Keg and it feels really secure and safe. One tip - I didn't like the look of the supplied plastic caps so I also purchased Joywayus Solid Brass Refill Propane Bottle Cap Universal for All 1 LB Gas Tank Cylinder Sealed Protect Cap which really makes me feel that this tank is now really safe and secure as the brass cap will also protect against a valve leak. One other thing, when researching this, the Fuel King canister looked as though it was a bigger build than the disposable Bernzomatic or Coleman canisters and may not fit on my Weber Baby Q, but I'm pleased to say that it fits the Weber perfectly (and also my Coleman BottleTop Propane Stove with Adjustable (single) Burner being only a milimeter or 2 wider than the disposable cans, but the product is definitely more sturder and heavier than the disposables, so now I'm happly refilling these with a "Saftey First" peace of mind and I've retired my recycled Berzomatics and I've already recovered my investment in the Fuel Kegs.

My choice!
I have been refilling my 1-pound propane bottles for years, and I've always found the process bothersome, tedious, and, depending on how it's done, potentially dangerous. This kit gives me a much easier alternative. There are a couple of newer systems on the market that accomplish the same basic thing. From what I found, both work in a similar manner and require you to purchase their particular refillable canisters. After comparing the options and thinking about which would work best for me, I chose this system. One of the things I really like is that it doesn't require any additional tools. I had the entire kit assembled in about five minutes, and I was ready to refill my first canister about ten minutes after opening the package. Using a 20-pound propane tank, it took approximately 30โ35 seconds to fill a 1-pound canister. That makes this a very convenient way to keep several small canisters ready to use. There is also a potential cost advantage. When you're using your own 20-pound propane tank, you're paying for the propane rather than continually buying disposable 1-pound bottles. It also means fewer disposable bottles going into the waste stream. Overall, I'm very pleased with this system. It was quick and simple to assemble, requires no special tools, and makes refilling my small propane canisters much more convenient. Just be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions and all applicable safety requirements when handling and transferring propane.

Need to make the requirement for an adaptor more prominent !! Great product otherwise
Great product, great concept. Much better and easier to fill than the standard propane bottles - safer too. Only issue is that it was not overly clear you could not fill these with a standard fill valve. Yes, its mentioned in the fine print but one has to expand it to see it. I purchased this a day before a trip and discovered I could not use it without the proprietary fill valve. I had to buy a disposable pack of tanks and waste the $ I didn't need to. The proprietary valve is nice though - just wish I had it when I ordered it. It would be PRUDENT for the manufacturer to sell a "starter kit" that included one tank and the valve that would make it much more usable.
