What does it mean to be a real man? Our culture seems confused about that question and why it even matters. But God has made you for a type of manhood that will not only fulfill you but also benefit everyone around you--if you choose to pursue it. It's not about being athletic or driving a big truck or getting rich (or getting girls). It's much bigger and better than that. Funny, honest, and packed with wisdom, The (Young) Men We Need gives you a clear vision of what it means to be a man by showing why it's crucial that you ● forsake the fake and relish the real ● protect the vulnerable ● be ambitious about the right things ● make women and children feel safe, not threatened ● choose today who you will become tomorrow ● take responsibility for your own spiritual life The world is waiting for you to show up and step into God's purpose for you as a man. This book shows you how to get there. Review: Why You Should Buy This Book!!! - Hi, my name is Bobby, and I am 16 years old. I'm homeschooled, and my mom wanted me to read this book and write a review as a part of my class. I personally enjoyed this book very much. It was powerful and convicting, while staying true to God's word and man's role as caretaker and protector. Brant Hansen really did a good job! The book had a lot to talk about different issues, from marriage and relationships, to our attitudes and inner thoughts, to protecting others and standing up for what's right. The book was also filled with true stories to help us relate to the book and understand how to apply its wisdom. One of my favorites is about a guy named Dishal Sooku, who saves a little girl from being kidnapped. "One day, he was sitting at a table with his dad... His dad noticed a 'suspicious-looking guy' nearby and told Dishal to keep an eye on him. That's when the guy jumped a short railing and lunged to kidnap the girl... Almost instantaneously - it's on video, you can watch it - Dishal is on top of the guy, throwing him to the ground and putting him in a choke hold... He held the attacker until the police came, and the attacker was charged with attempted kidnapping." That is a true example of bravery and godly manhood. I'd highly recommend this book to middle/high school and college students. We need more young, godly men to stand up and lead by example. If we are living lives that hurt other people and dishonor God, we hurt ourselves in the process. But if we live our lives like Dishal Sooku, we glorify God, we'll be a blessing to those around us, and our reward in heaven will be great! Review: Excellent - Awesome book!

The vision young men need
Absolutely a great book. I would recommend it to any old or young man wanting to grow and think seriously about who to be. It gives a target to shoot for instead of groping around life.

Another Brant Hansen hit. Required reading.
I have read several of Brant Hansen's books. In every one of them, his writing is spot on. He makes his points clearly, Biblically, and with great humor and personal insight. On more than one occasion I have found myself laughing out loud while reading one of his books. The Young Men We Need is no exception. Once again, Brant shares his excellent observations about a critically important topic...this time; young men. This book is an easy read and too often hits home with how our society betrays young men by giving them th wrong messages about what it means to be a man.

The resource for teen guys I've been waiting for
I've spent the past fifteen-plus years writing books and creating resources for teen girls. Inevitably when I speak to parents they'll ask, "So what would you recommend for the guys???" This. This is what you should buy for your sons, nephews, students, and (especially) your daughter's boyfriend. Brant hits it right on—hard-hitting truths in bite-sized pieces, seasoned with humor and self-deprecation. It will call out the best in the young men in your life, and I guarantee it will convict and inspire you too (whatever your chromosomes). In fact, my two teen daughters have both been caught stealing this gem from my desk. I know because I hear them chuckling in the other room. One said Brant might be the funniest Christian author she's read. (I tried not to be offended...and failed. I'm now ordering his "Unoffendable.") The other *casually* suggested her bf read it. Bottom line? Buy a copy for the young man in your life. Bribe him to read it if necessary. But once he picks it up, I doubt you'll have to.

I have given this book to high school students, college graduates, and adult friends.
This is a book everyone should read! He has a quirky style and makes fun of himself often while showing his love for humanity. I wish boys, girls, men, and women would read it. I loved the humor!

Surprisingly Relevant and Even Enjoyable Read
Another home run for Brant Hansen-even though he claims he’s not an athlete-lol. This is a very worth-while read for young men. We will be buying more copies to share as we have had several requests from young men who have perused our son’s copy.
