The AZ sun just lost the battle!
As an Arizona resident, I have spent years in an ongoing battle against the sun and the sun was winning. Then I bought this beautiful umbrella hat and everything changed! The first thing I noticed was how incredibly functional it is. I can rake my rocks, watch my kid’s baseball game, walk around a car show, or hang at the pool for hours without feeling like I’m being slowly cooked in an air fryer. My face, neck, and shoulders stay shaded, and I no longer arrive home looking like a lobster that made poor life choices. But what really surprised me was how fashionable it is! The moment I put this hat on, I became impossible to ignore. People stare. People point. Children whisper. Neighbors stop what they’re doing just to admire my commitment to both sun protection and personal style. Some may call it ridiculous. I call it “Arizona chic.” I’ve reached a point where I don’t even care if people laugh because I know they are just jealous. They’re standing there sweating in 112-degree heat while I’m enjoying my own portable patch of shade like some kind of desert royalty! Is it stylish? Absolutely. Is it practical? Even more so. Will your spouse pretend not to know you in public? Possibly. Overall, this umbrella hat has transformed me from an ordinary sunburned Arizonan into a fashionable outdoor legend. Five stars. If they made one twice as big, I’d buy it immediately!

Awesome umbrella and parasol!
I bought this for an event outdoors as I am allergic to the Sun. It works perfectly! It's easy to put up and down and it's durable! Great value for the money! It's a giant umbrella but not too big either. Very Lightweight but still sturdy. Wind resistance is good but I wouldn't try a large wind storm... would definitely recommend the purchase!

Hard tested
Durable comfortable and it works to keep you cool or dry. I used it day after day for several weeks in sunny 95 degree weather while working in open forests and it still works. To make the top stick up you have to pull 3 or four pegs out then put them back in and you then have a vented hands free umbrella. The rubber for the head band is the same as inflatable swimming floats use. Soft comfortable with a little stretch. I used to use a wide brim hat but there was always a trade off with protection from sun and the added heat that gets trapped around the head. This vented umbrella hat takes care of that. Also its great for looking at a device . The shade on the arms and shoulders adds up after a few hours to less drain on the body from the sun. I recomend it and with the added comfort you have or the hands free aspect you can be proud to wear it.

uncomfortable-unsteady-if cart@left hand, guide cane@right hand-it falls off-U get wet-sunbaked
I had to put a wash rag folded in quadrants to put between the shaft of the umbrella and the top of my head and the wind and jostling of my walking still managed to unbalance and fall off of my head. There needs to be something to isolate the shaft and one's head such as some type of flexible mini helmet disc to keep it steady and firmly on one's head. I should've sent it back, but threw it in the rubbish bin in disappointment. This is a work in progress as far as it's design and engineering is concerned. Good idea, but it needs more work.

Works well, with a bit of manipulating
I got this umbrella to help cut the intensity of the sun while I am gardening. With a few gotchas it works quite well. The good points: * The product is well engineered with an adjustable head band and double-folding supports so that it folds into a very small package. * The ventilation at the top under the second little umbrella works very well, much better than "vented" straw hats so my head stays as cool as possible. * The large size makes a sizeable pool of shade so that your arms and legs are shaded as well as your head if you sit rather compactly. * The fabric is opaque enough that the shade is of good quality. There is a lot of sun protection here if you can arrange yourself to take advantage of the shade it casts. The bad points: * The instructions are not written by a native speaker of American English and are not easy to understand. (However, if you remember that this is simply a modification of an umbrella it is not that hard to figure out.) * When wrapped up it is a bit too thick to stick into a pocket so it is a bit less mobile than I might like, but this is a minor nitpick. Basically it works as it is supposed to. I have found that the chin strap makes a decent handle for hanging it on my garden cart or on a hook in my garden shed. * The head band that secures the umbrella to the head is plastic. Not a great choice for something that is going to fit tightly against your skin. I sweat a lot under the headband. I am trying to figure out if I can put some sort of sweat rag under it without compromising the cling to my head. Leather or canvas might have been a better material for the band. The manipulations needed: * It is more than 37 inches wide. You do need to remember to tilt your head sideways when going through doors and gateways. The size of it also tends to make it a bit sensitive to wind movements. Be sure to make the headband tight enough to keep it in place. I wouldn't advise wearing it in very windy conditions. * I use it primarily for weeding my flower beds in the mornings. If I can sit on my little garden seat, facing into the sun, then bend over with my head tilted slightly upwards the umbrella shades my entire body. This took a little getting used to, but is well worth it. I can work much longer before the sun drives me into the house. This has given me a lot more gardening hours in what has turned out to be a very hot summer. Overall, this has been a surprisingly good purchase for something I had thought might just be an interesting novelty. I have also used it to enjoy sitting on the deck before the sun goes behind the tree in the evening. In that case, I put my back to the sun and lean my head back a bit. The shade spreads out a bit and the slight breeze coming up from the valley below makes the deck comfortable an hour earlier in the evening. It would be nice if it came in white as that would repel the sunlight a little better, but I am having a lot of fun with this little toy of mine.

Protective but not comfortable
Nice idea with caveats. It’s not the most comfortable headband I’ve ever had on my head. I couldn’t wear for prolonged activities without developing a headache. It does provide a reduction in facial sun exposure. I wouldn’t try to use in any significant wind. The mechanism for expanding and retracting is quite cheap but works well. The umbrella opens and folds easily. I just wish the headgear had any comfort to it.

Funny but useful umbrella. Buy to surprise your friends!
Bought because it looked funny and was low cost. When it arrived, it appears functional. It may be used as a hat in the sun and also as the rain umbrella. Covers the head and shoulders. Also can be used for light reflector for flashlight taking professional photos and videos. Very small packed. When opening, first stretch the "ribs" if the umbrella, then pull the rope. By the way, the picture in the ad shows it open incorrectly. They are made from silver reflecting fabric, I chose blue exterior, but for sun shield it probably would be better to pick another variant with silver side up. Buy - you will surprise friends with it!

The best Florida sun relief
This is the absolute dorkiest thing ever, but I live in SWFL and it's the absolute best! It has a rubber brim to help it stay in place without digging into your forehead. The silver on top reflects the sun and the blue under it blocks the heat from coming through and give you that cool shade feel. I don't care how ridiculous I look. I wear this to protect my face, shoulders, ears and the added bonus is I don't have to worry about sweaty sunscreen running down my head and getting in my eyes. My neighbors all laugh at me for about 15 seconds and then ask me where I got it because nobody looks good in this heat and humidity so the next best thing is actually being as cool as you can possibly get. I'm ordering another one for my mom!
