This is New York (This Is . . .)

If you want to see the 1960 New York illustrated for kids, get this book.

While waiting for my plane at JFK I spent a lot of time browsing in the book store as the departure area is pretty boring. I happened across this book and thought I must order a copy from Amazon as soon as I get back home. I did and it is now one of my favourite books. The illustrations are basic and childish yet beautiful. I have ordered another copy so I can cut out some of the pictures and have them framed. 5 Stars without a doubt.

So I thought it was about time I wrote a review for this, as brief as it may be. I got the calendar back in 2015 and after it was used I decided to take the artwork and put into some picture frames as I do with most calendars I enjoy. That way you can enjoy something time and time again if it's really well designed or the art is something you really appreciate which in this case I did. Just wished I'd reviewed it back then!

I'm only sorry that the San Francisco version is not given out since 2014.. I wanted to order an SF version. But this NY version is also very cool! :)

Same comments as for 'Cats Night Out' bought for same grown-up. Had a look through it, there are lots of lovely drawings and very colourful too, I think children would find it attractive.

This is the 3rd year I've bought this calendar so I must like it. I like the quirky pictures and there is space to write onto the days as well.

Fabulous illustrations, witty text. will be loved by newyorkers and non-newyorkers alike! Definitley worth a read, and a great addition to any children's book collection

Un libro "infantil" que vale para todas las edades, espléndidamente dibujado por ese gran artista que es Sasek, estoy deseando comprar el resto de libros de la serie.

sasek's books are all visually lovely, no doubt about it, however they are also incredibly informative, which i quite appreciate. this book is littered with amazing images and interesting facts. it also makes me wish i could go back in time to see new york in this era. and as with all the updated printings of sasek's books, there is a welcome list of "this is the state...today!" at the end of the book with changes listed since the original printing. it is great to see both the way the state WAS as well as the present day differences. i highly recommend this book if you are interested in either new york, or simply in wonderful illustration.
