A good quality, fun toy!
Lots of fun to use! Point it at anything (furniture, a cloudy sky, a flower, the floor) and you’ll see all sorts of designs and colors. I prefer this type of kaleidoscope over the ones with beads at the end. This one lets you view objects. A very fun toy to get distracted with!

Everyone needs one!
This thing is SO COOL! Way more fun to look thru than a traditional Kaleidoscope. It was so pretty to go outside and look through the trees at.

Not quite what I was expecting
I had assumed that the 'marble' was going to be something similar to a cats-eye marble - and that the color swirls inside the marble would be the focus of the kaleidoscope. Instead, the marble is clear glass - and what you see in the kaleidoscope is whatever you aim it at in the room you are in. That's not a bad thing - just not what I was expecting. The kaleidoscope itself is a metal tube - not exactly a heavy-duty sort of metal, but given the price that's not unexpected. There is a lens in the viewing end of the tube, and a large glass marble in the other end. The marble rotates - but really there isn't a reason to do that. The outside of the tube is painted. The kaleidoscope works well - you point it at something and you get some interesting images. I'm going to print out some color images to use as a focus for it. Maybe laminate them. The kaleidoscope tube I got was not in a package - just wrapped in some bubble wrap. So if you are purchasing this as a gift, you might need to find a box to put it in - or maybe a cardboard tube. Overall, I like this kaleidoscope - for the price it's a good purchase.

Good Family Gift!
I purchased 3 of these Schylling Marblescopes — correct term for this type of kaleidoscope is TELeidoscope — as gifts for a family of young children, knowing that the youngest, who is 2, would want to see, also. My thinking was that the 6 & 4 yr olds and the baby, with parental help, could all enjoy these as family fun. They were a hit and know the parents will continue to enjoy being involved also, as I’d thought. Well enough made and attractive enough to be happy to give as gifts. I’m buying two more, again, this time as gifts for a larger family where more than one child or parent will want to try at the same time. Wish they weren’t made in China, but, oh, well. I looked for US made and, unless something custom made and prohibitively expensive, no domestic versions of a teleidoscope are available. Deducted one star solely for the China factor. A teleidoscope is a fun, novel and imaginative way to view our world, up close or at a distance. Definitely a wow factor!

Love the kaleidoscope
This is a great toy for all ages; it's captivated the imagination of my 3-year old granddaughter.

Wellness Recovery And Plan: Toolkit Item
I was headed into a thoracentsis procedure for fluid on the lungs. I was going to need to be awake and participate in the procedure and I anticipated anxiety. I am a smaller and the 18 months as a non-smoker were DAILY anxiety-stressors for the hand-mouth habit and cravings that came out of nowhere. The sensory issues with the anxiety-ptsd stuff when my sense of smell and taste returned. Literally-I’ve me crazy and I would keep looking to my empty right hand and get frustrated! I didn’t like life and I didn’t like my own sour-edgy-“bitter” self as a non-smoker. I wanted “something” to hold and fidget with in my smoking hand! And-unfortunately…. Hadn’t considered a kaleidoscope in that experience. But I remembered the way-I wanted something to replace. Like if Dumbo the flying elephant had first used a cigarette held to his trunk and face…. To help him fly-what could he use as a healthier alternative? Lol-an adult-nice little kaleidoscope. Fine motor skills to hold and rotate smoothly. Dexterity and concentration that if forced to focus on SOMETHING during the procedure-like a “focal point” in Lamaze training!- the anxiety would HAVE to be distracted and targeted safely onto a “better goal” than merely-trying to stay still while they.. So. This is my third kaleidoscope in a “collection”…. It was poorly packaged and arrived with some “character flaws”-denting. It is amusing to direct it at a window-tv-tree-flowers because the crystals actually on the image in little reflections exact in fragmented-pixelated minures of whatever the thing is aimed at-when light is efficient on the “target”. This is a great tool then…. To work with photography skills. Practicing and enjoying how light and darkness reflects itself…. And “moves” thru different “structures” as the kaleidoscope is turned-tilted-redirected…. But. It is not really small enough even to make it a pouch to carry on a lanyard or d-clamped to a belt loop. I believe-I Will like to order 3 more of these for my grandkids. And. Haven’t decided which one/s I would choose to gift others. This one…. Is the shape-size-exterior look and reflective image inside-for the kids. It’ll be something that tho likely to arrive dented…. (Unfortunately…) acceptance of flaws sometimes “matters”, and-“won’t be the first to deny it accidentally-so no upset when they make their first mark!) valued inexpesivy-but “pretty” enuf-they will want to pick it up-carry it around sometimes-keep it in a special place (at a window sill”-smile when their moms “take a peak” thru it ti share-and-wanna “keep it safe/nice” as long and we’ll as they can-until gramma gets them a “nicer one”-like their mom’s or aunty’s” or one direct from gramma’s collection!

Good novelty toy but beware.
Fun toy but beware because the end is a glass ball. I worry about it getting dropped or thrown aside and breaking. I would not recommend for a small child.

Very cool, but product damaged
I purchased this kaleidoscope and it arrived with a sizable dent in one side, although it functions perfectly. Amazon replaced it for me within a day. However, the replacement kaleidoscope also had a dent in the same location! I’m giving it as a gift to a child. I guess I’ll keep it, as it works fine. Just disappointed.
