Fantastic Collection Sci-Fi---Screen Aspect Ratio's Below
This is a must have collection for 1950's sci-fi lovers. I have most of these on my DVR from TCM, but DVR's fail. I am so glad to have a physical copy of these movies. The video quality is darn good. They are not Blu-Ray quality; however, you'd pay a lot more than $19.99 to have Blu-Ray copies of these movies. The worst copy in the group, imo, is "Forbidden World".******Following are the aspect ratio's for the movies in the collection******"Them" - "The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms" - "The Thing" -- Standard Ratio 1:33:1Note: The TCM copies of these movies on my DVR was shown with full 16:9 screen coverage or "anamorphic widescreen:. On my Samsung TV, I have a "wide fit" option that stretches what's on the screen to full 16:9 coverage. I used the "wide fit" option on the DVD's & the aspect was exactly the same as my DVR recordings. That made me very happy"Forbidden Planet" - "World Without End" - "Satellite in the Sky" -- Widescreen Letterbox Format to keep original movie aspect. Note: The aspect ration for this would approximately -- 2:35:1"The Time Machine" - Presented in a "Widescreen "Matted" preserving the aspect ration of the original theatrical version. Note: When I checked this DVD on the player, the movie played as an "Anamorphic Widescreen" or 1:85:1 aspect ratio. This collection is well worth the money!!!

Sci-fi Classics + bonus features = Fanboy Bliss
I don't often rate things so highly. The quality of this box set is stellar. It's a amazing collection of classic Syfy great for fans and collectors or beginners just getting into this genre. The DVDs are amazing quality and the fact that they use the poster art makes it much nicer. A lot of companies when doing these public domain style DVD sets we'll just put them in paper sleeves in a DVD case and forget about it. these have special features including an interview with Ray harryhausen and more. On the movie side of things, you have The Thing : from another world the movie that inspired John Carpenter to do is remake and is an amazing movie in its own right. it has beast from 20,000 fathoms which is Ray harryhausen classic. also Forbidden Planet all, I have to say about this movie is Robby the Robot. If you don't know who Robby is you've definitely seen him a few times in your life. And there is a lot more in this set but my nerdy sci-fi fanboy self is already rambled enough.

FOUR STARS FOR THE COLLECTION CONCEPT AND THE PRICE AND THE MOVIES THEMSELVES
Six movies for less than $3 each? Wow. But are they all classics”? Arguably, four are, and one comes close. The other (World Without End), actor Rod Taylor’s Hollywood debut, is nothing special. Still, the set’s a great bargain, there’s some good bonus material…and three of the six are still great entertainment today.I didn’t see see Forbidden Planet when first released (1956) because I wasn’t old enough to go by myself, and my parents certainly wouldn’t have taken me. Later, I avoided TV screenings because it looked “hokey.” So, I see it here for first time ever—over 60 years later! What passed for titillating sexy humour in those days—silly scenes with starlet Anne Francis! Robby’s “hokey”, too—but the effects, sets and matte paintings are surprisingly good. The year before or after the Oscar-winning effects might have won, but bad timing! Couldn’t compete with Ten Commandments!Three others are worthy of comment:The Thing From Another World is still terrific—lots of suspense and drama. movie-goers knew it then--big sci-fi box-office, beating out 1951 contenders The Day The Earth Stood Still and When World’s Collide. Great direction and excellent dialogue (unlike ponderous “Planet”). And the man-woman banter is genuinely amusing. A sure-fire classic.Beast From 20,000 fathoms gave Stop-Motion animation legend Ray Harryhausen a huge multi-milllion dollar box-office hit. Today, its clever fiery climax—and masterful sound work—rescue it from the category of “ancient artifact.”Time Machine. Old enough to see this with the school gang in 1960! Enjoyable entertainment today. The “machine” itself is a marvel. Pathfinding effects won the Oscar. Undoubtedly a classic.

Great Collection!
Included in this set of classic Sci-Fi films are 7 (that's right, there's ONE more than is stated on the packaging!) of the best films of this genre, including The Time Machine, The Thing, and one of my absolute favorites - Them! I highly recommend this terrific DVD collection if you enjoy these types of films from the 50"s.

Great collection. Amazing quality!
These old movies are so much fun, and the quality is amazing. Each movie comes on its own disk and there is none of the noise you often see when watching old movies on TV. Highly recommend!
