looking for the old version where the ovaltine floated in crunchy bits on the milk and resisted being mixed in--is this it?

Some bits clump but it is not the old style where the texture was more chunky and not powder. It is a really better than the US version because it has way less carbs and more nutrition. This is the best reason to be a regular buyer of the European formula.

Why is it so expensive on Amazon when you can buy it a grocery store for under $4

If you have access to this item at the store. this is the place to buy. Not every item can be comparable to the store. There is a price to bring the item to your door next day.

product may be from Thailand, but the script on the canister / jar is definitely not Thai. Look up what what Thai writing looks like and compare it to Chinese.

What country is it made in?

Curiously enough, the bottle says it's manufactured in Thailand for Ovaltine International...a bit peculiar for a "European" formula, but pretty tasty nonetheless.

Taste good without too much sugar

Great tea. As someone from Nigeria this one of our best childhood chocolate teas. Dissolves very well. Texture is very nice and consistence with what I’ve known. No too much sugar or change in taste, everything is still the same. It’s a healthy choice and it dissolves in all temperatures very well. High value for money I highly recommend this product everyone.
