KA11 USB Dongle DAC and Amp (USB-C, Black)

This thing just blows my mind, it's just crazy how this thing can produce so much power, it makes any phone sound like a full DJ set up in your pocket ,I have mine connected to an old phone, when I'm sat in the garden or walking the dog, the sound is just Amazing, transform any phone with a USB C connection or purchase the USB to C adapter for penny's, it literally boost ,and turns any phone PC, or gadget literally into a high end HiFi system for not a lot off money, 10 out of 10.

I initially bought the Jade Audio JA1 which is a cheaper version (by Fiio's sub-brand Jade) for using my DT770 Pro 32ohm cans with my phone. That drove them "ok" but i had to have volume close to max. Bought this Fiio KA11 instead as this has a much more powerful op amp inside. These now drive my headphones much harder and i can listen at good volume with still a good 30-40% left -- which means quieter stuff can be boosted Great build quality. Gets a little warm but that's pretty normal when pushing this much power so nothing to be alarmed about -- it's warm not hot. For the price -- great bit of kit

This product has been a disaster. Don’t get me wrong: the sound quality is outstanding, but the reliability is nonexistent. I have had FOUR of them, from Amazon and other retailers, and all have had faults. The first two had a nasty overheating problem, and I mean seriously hot —too hot to touch, and then they would simply cut out. The third had problems with the 3.5mm socket, which didn’t make proper contact with the plug on the headphone cable, resulting in constant dropouts and static. The fourth one has now simply stopped working. The led illuminates, but none of my devices (iPhone 15, Samsung S25, iPad mini, HP Envy, MacBook Air M2) will recognise the dongle. It doesn’t even merit the single star this review requires. Don’t waste your money. Avoid the Fiio KA11

This DAC and amp sounds amazing. The difference compared with many other DACs is night and day. It's actually better than a creative USB sound card I use mostly for 5.1 channel sound. Even when listening to regular Mp3, AAC Vorbis, Opus or other compressed files. I couldn't even turn on the UHQ upscaler with the Samsung DAC dongle but I can with this. But to be fair, I'm now not sure my Samsung DAC dongle was a genuine Samsung product. But I bought that from an Amazon seller as well... This DAC also does DSD. Up to DSD512 oversampling I believe. Cirrus DAC chips like the one this uses are now some of the best. They seem to be making chips as good as Wolfson before Cirrus purchased the company.

So far i've had a 8 hour music session with my Beyerdynamic 770 pro X and it drives them well, past safe listening volumes. You will find a lot of people on reddit and reviews saying it heats up a lot, but after 8 hours the hottest it's gotten is on par with a fast charging USB C cable. Have yet to try it on my phone or with their app/software but it's pretty much plug and play on windows 10. Worth every penny if it holds up over time. Oh it also works fine plugged into a USB C female to USB A male adapter, no audible "noise". It's amazing how they've gotten such performance out of a dongle that is almost the same size as an apple adapter.

Absolutely ridiculous upgrade in sound. I say this after spending ~£5000 in audio equipment from Wharfedale, Denon, SVS, B&W. It does get a little bit hot. But I have no worries since FiiO is an known brand with a good reputation in the budget audiophile community. I'm absolutely certain thermal protection kicks in before temp reaches dangerous levels. 100% must-have for IEMs.

EDITED REVIEW: After using this with my iPhone (review below) I decided to try it with three different DAPs. I ended up returning the KA11 as soon as I realised just how flaky this is. It either won't work at all, or it will only work with certain music players, or it will work and then disconnect and not reconnect... I've installed the Fiio app to see if that helps, but no. Yes, it works with my iPhone, but what if I decide to switch to Android when it's time for a change? And why shouldn't I be able to use it with my DAP as well? It seems like I am not the only person to have these problems. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I used this with an iPhone 15 Pro Max, and Letshuoer IEMs. Compared to the regular dongle I've been using the volume is increased, and the music sounds "fuller". Without the Fiio it's flat and lifeless (XTCs The Mayor Of Simpleton for instance) and it comes to life when the Fiio is substituted. That's not very scientific, I know, but it's accurate.

After spending A LOT of time comparing different DAC's for my IEM's, I settled on the KA11 as it stood out above the rest. Definitely NOT disappointed. It sounds fantastic! Tested both on my PC and my Samsung smartphone, audio is crisp and clear, no distortion, and with a well-tuned EQ it really cannot be beaten. Excellent clarity and depth. I also find it doesn't have a dramatic effect on Smartphone battery life either, which was a concern, though I'm sure that will vary depending on which earbuds/headphones you use. The DAC does get a little warm after a little bit of use, but rest-assured that's totally normal. I will say however, this is a very powerful DAC. It is capable of driving larger headsets without an issue. With that being said, exercise caution if you are using sensitive IEM's (like me). I unfortunately accidentally blasted my ears briefly at 100% volume when I clicked an incorrect button on the PC FiiO app. Worth noting, even with very sensitive IEM's, the noise floor is incredibly low... I hear absolutely zero hiss or artifacts when no music is playing. Incredible. All in all, highly recommended. It blows a lot of the other DAC's at double the price-point out of the water.

Sheeezzzz!!!! I am now going back to wire headphones 😁… sounds louder & better! clearer vocals! and mid-range are top caliber. Thanks to this bloody gem! This is a must to all Headphones! Gen. X’s let’s volt in! So easy to set-up, just bloody connect to any latest mobile phone devices and that’s it. I’m using my Sony’s WH-1000XM6 Headphone + connected to my iPhone16 Pro Max. Just a reminder, you can’t use or connect to Sony’s Sound Connect app when using your FiiO KA11 USB dongle. But I think you don’t need tweaks for EQ to get a better sounds. The sounds coming out are great. I am so thrilled & overjoyed having this! Best Buy indeed.

Amazing! I have a Jcally AP6, Fiio KA13, Fiio QX13 and although the QX13 sounds better the KA11 is by far much louder and very close. While the QX13 is slightly cleaner and has better soundstage, and has an PEQ its also nearly 10x the price. Compared to the Jcally and Fiio KA13, the sound quality to me, is nearly equal to the KA13 and to me better than the Jcally, while being much louder. I have IEMs and the other DACs driving those are a toss up, but driving my Sennheiser HD560s the other ones are soft, i have to max out the volume control or get close to it, the KA11 is a little over half to have the same volume. At $35...to me its hard to beat. Its get loud enough to drive my Hifiman Edition XS ok.
