amazing low price quality components used for an indoor fireplace and covered with ceramic logs works & looks great. I used with Natural gas and still added an air mixer to end up with a less sooty flame. I also drilled out the 90k btu air mixer gas supply to 1/4" to alow the original flame size.

I purchased this kit to upgrade the burner in an old propane fire pit. Wow! What a difference. This burner puts out 30,000 btu more than the one it replaced. The flames are well dispersed across the fire pit and put out a lot more heat. There are a couple criticisms that I can pass on, however. The "manual" and installation instructions are very generic, with much of the information not applying to the specific unit that I purchased. Some of the parts, especially the mounting plate for the valve and igniter had to be significantly modified in order to work. The installer will need tools to cut and drill the stainless steel plate. Also there are no included instructions as to where to place the igniter. I guessed wrong. As a result, the igniter takes a few seconds to work. THIS SITUATION LEADS TO AN IMPORTANT WARNING! Because the igniter does not work instantly, excess propane often "pools" under the burner and then lights EXPLOSIVELY! I was not expecting this and was positioned too close to the fire pit when the explosion occurred, singing my eyebrows and hair. I suffered no permanent injury and should have been more careful. Users should take care to only open the valve slightly when using the provided igniter. Until I figure out the safest way to use the electric igniter, I may just use a propane fire stick that allows me to start the burner from a safer distance. While I recommend that users take appropriate care when installing and lighting this burner, I am very happy with the product as my overall rating confirms. I highly recommend that the manufacturer rewrite their installation instructions to be more complete and specific to this particular product. While I take full responsibility for the singed hair, a little warning about the potentially explosive ignition would have been appreciated.
