Easy to use
Accurate once it is calibrated. You will need 3 small (4 oz) containers and distilled water to mix the calibrating liquid, but once that is done it is easy to use. I use it to measure soil PH

I like the meter, It's a little involved the use, but it's necessary
I had tried cheap pH soil testing meters are several years. You know the ones with analog pointer. I never felt they gave accurate readings. (They always seemed to read about 6.5.) I have experienced very low yields in my acid loving fruits and berries. So I decided to splurge and get this digital meter. In order to use the meter it needs to be calibrated, which was a small annoyance. The instruction manual does not tell how long the calibration lasts. I did not know if it needed to be calibrated each time I took it out to use it, if a calibration would last for several months, or if the calibration dependent upon strength of Alkiline/Acid I was testing. I still don't know. It came with two packets of buffered powders to make standard pH4, pH7, and pH10 solutions. We made the solutions in drinking glasses, then threw hout the solutions. Next time I used the meter I did the calibration again, but it seemed like it had remained calibrated. But now I was out of calibration solution.I therefore purchased a calibration solution kit with five packets and plastic containers to preserve the fluid. It seems like the calibration has lasted a month, and it may last all season. Would be nice to know in the instructions how to determine when the meter needs to be recalibrated.Perhaps most important, is that I found my soil was slightly alkaline, so I added an acidifier to the soil in the quantity needed to raise the pH level by one. When I retested the soil, it had indeed improved from pH 7.4 to pH 6.3. This gives me a great deal of confidence that the meter is measuring soil pH accurately. I also found that I tap water was very alkaline, pH 8.9, that may be a significant reason I have been getting low yield on acid loving plants. Suspect I will have to add an acidifying supplement to my soil several times over the summer to counteract the high alkaline levels of the water. It gives me great joy to feel confident that my pH readings are accurate!Other gardeners beware. Recently water companies are making their water more alkaline in order to reduce corrosion in the water pipes. This is particularly true where there may be old lead pipes as alkaline water seems to leach less lead out of the pipes reducing the toxic lead consumption of consumers. Maybe great for people but it is probably bad for growing fruits and vegetables.

JUNK!!!
JUNK, JUNK, JUNK!!!! I feel duped. Of course my option to return the item lapsed 2 days ago!!! I used it for the first time, cleaned it, put it back in it's protective case. Opened it again to test my soil again. It fell apart as I attempted to remove the protective cap. (see pic attached).BUYER BEWARE

Worked awesome. Nice tester to have

Easy to use
Trying to make our grass more healthy and this was the first step. It is hard to know what it is lacking without first checking the pH. Easy to use.

NOT a soil ph tester, but can be if you have laboratory experience.
This ph probe is not a soil ph tester. Instead, it is a ph tester that can be used to measure the ph of soil, among many other things, if the user has the background knowledge to do so. It is really a science project, and requires calibration before use. I worked in an actual lab in college, so I was able to make this thing work, but I wouldn’t expect the inexperienced person to be able to use it properly. Calibration requires the user to find and buy distilled water, which I found at Safeway for $1.49.I had to research soil ph testing to find a method to test soil for ph. There are no instructions included in the packaging to guide the user to test soil, even though this tester is advertised as a soil tester. The method I found on the interweb required the use of a digital scale to weigh out 100 grams of soil. I doubt most users have a scale accurate enough to work, so plan on buying one at around $50.I think most users will prefer a ph meter that is easier to use.
