Review for Varidesk Pro Plus 36. I have now owned and used this desk for 21 months, and I still have the same impression as when I first used it - it is even better to use than I expected. When down, it looks smart and use it just like a desk, you can raise & lower it silently in 2-3 seconds - the rising bit moves forwards towards you as it extends, keeping your body away from the desk that it is sitting on. You can stop it at any height (just wiggle it slightly to make sure both sides are locked with a 'click'), but if you extend it fully it doesn't need a 'click' and is fully silent. When extended, you can lean gently against it, but I wouldn't put full weight on it like you might your normal desk. The monitor platform is raised a fixed amount relative to the keyboard/mouse lower platform, a height difference I personally find perfectly comfortable. It forms a very stable platform and is well designed and made. I have used it in 2 locations - so had to set it up twice, and the wires are no issue. You obviously have to have wires long enough to cope with it extending upwords, but with a bit of care and some cable-ties, you can be set up in 10 minutes. It has transformed my days at work - if you can cope with the price, you should find it an excellent product.

I love this desk. I had started suffering from aching calf muscles and realised that I had more chance of getting a DVT from sitting at my cramped computer desk all day than I did from a long haul flight. I decided to order the Varidesk and I love being able to stand and work for a while and then go back to sitting when I want to. The varidesk can be raised or lowered really easily. It was a lot heavier than I anticipated and required 2 of us to get it up the stairs but I can understand why it is so heavy as it is a serious piece of kit. The varidesk sits on top of a normal desk and I the desk I have it on is not as deep as the varidesk and I made a silly mistake of initially letting it overhang at the front of the desk - until I realised that when the varidesk is raised it not only goes upwards but it comes forward too so all the weight comes forward and could easily be tipped forward which, with the weight it is, would have been disasterous. I moved the varidesk so that the overhang was at the back and it's now safe to use. I do think that it should come with a warning that it needs to rest properly on the surface it is placed on as it would have been an accident waiting to happen. Having said that I am very happy with the varidesk and all the muscle problems seem to have gone since I started being able to be flexible how I worked

I bought the Pro Plus 36, and later added the rubber mat and adjustable monitor arm. This has, without a doubt, positively improved my working day. Save for the occasional stint at the gym, I've essentially spent the last 20 years of my working life sat on my backside. As a computer programmer, this doesn't tend to be 9-5, either. It's not uncommon to be sat down 8-12 hours or more at a stretch. After reading an article suggesting that 'sitting is the next smoking', it brought home just how much this could be impacting my health, so I decided to try a standing desk. After doing a bit of research, the Varidesk Pro Plus 36 seemed like the best option. I already have a pretty decent table, but it's not adjustable at all - this 'hybrid' model works perfectly, by essentially transforming my static desk into something height adjustable. The price was a sweet spot for me -- while there are cheaper table-top options, this is incredibly good value for the build quality. At the same time, I didn't want to shell out £1,500+ for a full standing desk, since I have a perfectly decent table already. So this was ideal. Speaking of the build quality, I'd sum it up by saying "it feels American". American products seem to be sturdier, larger, easier, better engineered, somehow. I've found that with numerous higher-end products, and this is all of those things. The desk was shipped from the Netherlands but I believe it's manufactured in the US. It's big and heavy, and feels incredibly well made. This is evidenced by the fact it's sent as a SINGLE item-- there's no assembly required. Just take out of the box, put on your table, and you're ready to go. Size-wise, the 36" model is perfect for my use. On the lower rung, it fits a Macbook Pro 15", a separate mouse and mouse mat, and a book or notepad comfortably. On the top layer, I have a 27" monitor on Varidesk's adjustable arm (sold separately- worth the investment, see my other review), often a large mug of coffee, and a book stand that often seats a heavy technical manual of some kind. It fits all of that stuff without having to shift anything around; what's more, adjusting between seated and standing positions is sturdy and smooth enough that I don't have to move loose items around out of fear of dropping anything. It's incredibly sturdy and well made. Health-wise, clearly, using your legs throughout the day as a means to be healthier is a no brainer. Few people would dispute that sitting down all day is good for your well-being. With that said, I think the health benefits of standing may be a little overstated (by others; not Varidesk directly). I've read miraculous stories of people dropping kilos of weight and curing life-long back pains. That's perhaps possible, but for me, it was much simpler -- it helped me stand up straighter, and put a little less stress on my back. I don't think standing is a panacea alone; it's more about not being locked into one position all day, every day, and having the freedom to move. It takes a good few weeks to adjust to standing, routinely. At first, I found myself putting all my weight on one leg or another, and would often end the day with leg cramps. It takes a little persistence to remember not to stand 'lazily', and a few weeks to get the balance between standing time and sitting time right. For the first little while, I went a little gung ho on standing and my legs and back actually felt worse before they got better. In my experience with this over the last few months, the ideal balance is to sit for maybe 3/4 of the day, stand for the other 1/4. Alternate between the two every couple of hours. It's here where this desk REALLY shines. Adjusting takes 5 seconds. Just shove your chair out the way, grab the clips at either side, and lift up or down. I was quite surprised by how adjustable the desk was; there are plenty of 'notches' and finding a position that works for any height is simple. I should add that I'm 5'8" and the desk goes PLENTY high for me. It could comfortably work for a someone 6" or taller. It depends on exactly what height desk you're starting with too, of course. I would recommend this model to anyone that has a large enough desk to host it (see the attached pic to get an ideal for the size), and who wants to improve their health whilst working for longer periods at that desk. This will solve the 'standing' part. It won't alone solve the sitting. I'd still recommend a good chair (swapping a cheap IKEA one for a Herman Miller Embody, in my case, made as much difference as going from a static to a standing desk since snapping the attached pic.) A good chair + this standing desk = a positive improvement to your health for years to come.

Amazing desk on a desk! A friend recommended this to me, and I find it brilliant. It's very heavy, so you may want help getting it onto the desk in the first place; the benefit is that it then stays firmly in place and keeps your computer etc safe. The controls are easy (a handle on each side to grip, release and then hold in while you move the desk to the position you prefer). There is even an app for your phone to help you if you want to be told when you should switch from sitting to standing and back again. I know that the desks which can move up and down (the whole desk surface) to let you switch between sitting and standing are very expensive (about £1000 upwards), and I think this is a great alternative. I have found a small & simple gadget which is weighted and holds on to your computer cable is helpful when you unplug with the desk in the high position!

Having read way too much about the health benefits of standing versus sitting, I finally decided to do something about it. I got two cardboard boxes out of the garage and used them to elevate my keyboard, mouse and monitor - a somewhat perilous situation for the monitor and a bit of pain as I wanted to stand and sit at regular intervals. But I found that I really loved working standing up - I know that may sound weird (it does to my son), but I am not alone in feeling that way. So I started reading (again, way too much) about standing desks. There are surprisingly many and various ways of tackling this, ranging from modifying IKEA furniture, to replacing your desk with an electronic one that goes up and down at the push of a button - plus a ton of money. But I wanted to keep my desk and I did not want to spend upwards of £1000. I looked at Ergo Kangaroo & ErgoTron but ended up with this. Why? ErgoTron did not handle non-VESA mountable monitors (afaik), Kangaroo has a little support leg and looked a bit industrial and both were more expensive for similar double monitor footprint (I have a laptop + 24" Dell). My Varidesk Pro Plus is a new model which features a different height keyboard shelf that, whilst not being adjustable versus the monitor shelf, is just right for me anyway. The two shelves lift up as one and go back down very easily together so I can change from sit to stand and back again in seconds. It's a very sturdily made unit and has plenty of space for a full size PC keyboard and mouse. I think it is utterly brilliant - if I was looking to criticise, I'd suggest the mouse area could be a mite bigger and some cable management would be a good addition. But this is a worthy 5 star item from someone who only very rarely is moved to write any review at all.

I admit I was dubious about this idea but what the boss wants..... well, you get the picture. The boss really likes this as it lifts all the monitor/laptop/keyboard/mouse to standing height (which for the boss is 5ft 11"). It's heavy, good quality and really stable; it just sits on top of the desk, it's not bolted/attached yet has never showed any sign of pitching over at any height. It's got a simple mechanism for lifting that it easy/quick to use and smooth in operation so it can be set at any height between the normal seated height and standing height and therefore very flexible, unless you are very tall*. Been in use for a while now and no issues. Boss loves it as it allows him to stretch his legs but keep working with the bonus of being able to keep an eye on the whole office. *FYI my other 6ft 4" colleague had a go and found it slightly too low at it's highest setting which caused him to stoop to get his eyeline correct on the monitor; we found another solution for my taller colleague.

This is an exceptional piece of equipment. I now stand at least 50% out of the day. It's very easy to adjust, easy to clean and because there are several notches for the height, depending on my footwear I can easily adjust for the most ergonomic setting. Two people in my office have now bought them:)

Works very well (I am typing this standing up) and is a godsend for anyone who spends too many hours sitting at a desk. It requires no assembly. I put it on my desk as soon as it arrived and stood up immediately. It is sturdy when open and folds neatly when closed. The mechanism is simple to use so you can change position within seconds. Drawbacks? It could do with proper cable management (nothing a few cable ties can't fix). There is some wobble when you type (not so much as to bother me). A whole height-adjustable desk might be marginally better (but you must be willing to spend more money).

In short, I love this desk. I spend a lot of time in front of the computer for work. I decided recently that sitting in front of the computer for 8-12 hours was not good for my health and my butt was getting sore. I looked at stand-up desk options. There are desks available that look like a normal square desk and has a motor for lifting the high of the desk platform. However, they're usually pretty expensive and would replace your existing desk. Then I ran across this Varidesk option. I was a little skeptical if this would work and be stable enough. After reading other reviews of people loving it, I bit the bullet and spent the $400. A bit expensive I thought but hey, for your health, that's cheap overall and cheaper than the full desk option. I received the Varidesk about 4 days after ordering. I thought the UPS guy was going to break his back carrying it to the front door. The package weights about 70 lbs. As noted, the installation is pretty straightforward. Getting it out of the box is the most difficult task. It comes packaged in a very sturdy cardboard package. Once you pull out of the box, remove the plastic wrap, you literarily sit on top of your desk. Put your stuff back on the desk. Done!! Ok, you do need to route your keyboard and mouse wires through the back of desk so it doesn't pinch the wires when lowing the desk. It's easy to route them this way (tip: route them straight back in the middle and over the top horizontal metal support under the monitors platform, use some plastic wire hangers that can stick to a surface, stick to under side of monitor platform ). I found putting the cables in the down the middle of the desk, rather than on the sides where the hinges are located, eliminated the possibility of pinching the wires when lowing the desk all the way down. This desk is very sturdy and has no problem with twin 23" monitors. When raised/extend the Varidesk all the way to the top, it's still sturdy. Now if you happen to hit or knock into it when raised, the monitors will shake but no enough to worry about them falling off or Varidesk falling over. NOTE: If you have a 15+ lb cat, you might want to lower the desk at night. They haven't jumped on it yet but I'm thinking if they do when the desk is fully extended, it could knock something off. However, I think its sturdy enough that I don't think the Varidesk would fall off the desk. I've had this desk for about 2 weeks. I love standing up now when I work now. I find my self moving around a lot with my feet, while stretching, bending, squatting, and even breaking out in dance when a good song comes on. One other thing I really like about standing is you can easily position yourself in front of the monitor you're viewing. Instead of just turning your head side to side, you move your entire body in front of the monitor you're looking. The ergonomics of this desk at great also, The curved cutout in front of the keyboard along with the mouse platforms next to it make it comfortable to lean and support yourself as you're moving your body back and forth between monitors. The monitor platforms for the monitor are the perfect height for me. HOWEVER, I will note, as other reviews have, the desk would not be ideal for taller people without having your entire desk elevated. The Varidesk needs a stable platform to sit so I would caution setting it on something that's not rock solid to prop it up. I'm 5' 9" and it's the perfect height for me for both standing and sitting. My desk is 28" tall. The Varidesk is very easy to raise and lower (see video on Varidesk website). The spring loading is enough that a smaller, weaker person could still raise/lower the platform. My only complaint (just so I have at least one) is you might feel you lose some flat surface real estate on your current desk. However, I quickly figured out how to rearrange my desk items to fit the new setup. I actually like it better than my previous setup now. The new setup is much more ergonomic and comfortable than my previous setup. I can standup working an entire 8 hour day and still feel great. NOTE: An anti-fatique mat is essential to stand on so make sure you order one along with the Varidesk. You'll want it the very first day you use it. I bought the Genuine Joe mat. It has worked OK but I just ordered the CumulusPro because I want more cushion on my feet. I'll review when I receive it. I highly recommend this desk to anyone that keeps their butt in their chairs too long and doesn't want to spend the money or have the room for a full sized motorized lifting desk.

I was looking for an affordable stand-up desk when someone recommended Varidesk. After comparing it to other complex-looking stand-up gizmos that clamped to your desk, I decided to give Varidesk a try. The design of the Varidesk Pro Plus seemed to make the most sense and was ideal for my notebook + external monitor setup. The desk shipped quickly and was a breeze to set up: no assembly, no clamping. Just clear your desk, unpack the Varidesk, then put all your stuff back on! The spring-loaded release works smoothly and it raises and lowers silently, with little effort. The construction is very solid and sturdy and the unit appears to be very high quality. There is a generous amount of space on both shelves to put your stuff. Just a couple of nits though: - I am 5' 10" and the raised height is just perfect for me in the standing position. Taller coworkers came by and tried it out and found the raised height still too low. If you're tall, you'll need to place some wood blocks beneath the feet. - The keyboard try area is very spacious and deep, but the "mouse pad" wings on either side are not very large and are unnecessarily close to your body. I like to push my keyboard further in and have my mouse arm extended a bit, but that's impossible given the design of the unit. My my mouse arm feels a bit cramped. - The unit is about $100 cheaper on Amazon.com, but they won't ship to Canada. :-( I docked one star for the mouse issue, because it's a recurring one that kind of annoys me. But otherwise the desk is very good. EDITED MAR 13: After using this for a few days, I've managed to reposition it a bit to minimize my "mouse" grievances. Therefore I am elevating it to 5 stars.

Für den Preis gibt es nichts zu maulen. Man bekommt ein super Qualitätsprodukt. Der Aufbau ist in 4 Minuten erledigt. Auspacken, aufstellen, loslegen. Mit einer weiteren Person kann man den Aufsatz super auf dem Tisch platzieren. Hinterher alleine verschieben wird schwer, da er sehr fest auf dem Tisch steht, also kein verschieben oder rutschen während des Arbeitens. Die höhenverstellung funktioniert reibungslos und leise. Super fürs Büro. Ich freue mich sehr und bin gespannt was mein Rücken sagen wird.

this desk is amazing! it’s very sturdy and easy to use. Just press the levers on the side and it moves up and down with ease. you can adjust the height very easily. This is the same desk my company recommends to all our staff. it’s a great product, very happy with it. set up was a breeze!
