SkipDr review
I bought this to use on an expensive X-Box game that had had been scrubbed on the floor during a domestic between the kids. It was a long shot but I thought that it was worth a go. I put the disk through the process 3 times because it was covered in scratches and IT WORKED! That was weeks ago and it still works perfectly. Many CD's that used to skip on some sections are now like new. I have since tried it on an X-Box game that got scored/eaten by the machine. It had a very deep and wide groove around the whole circumference. This was a step too far. It really works but it won't perform a miracle. Well worth the money.

A sceptic converted
I really didn't think that this would work, but my 3 year old son liked to store his DVDs together and on the floor and behind the cupboard. Most of them are scratched beyond repair, or so I thought. We picked a particularly bad one that gets stuck 10 minutes in. Sprayed it, wound it in SkipDr and polished it (as per the instructions). The DVD remembered where we were and it still didn't work. But you could definitely see that the picture wasn't as pixilated as before. So I ran it through the machine again and it made it to 11 minutes. A few more goes and it was playing perfectly. I was really sceptical as to whether this would work or not, but 3 DVDs later I am totally convinced. We have not had a reject yet!

Not perfect, but very handy and has got most discs working for me
I've tried a number of different solutions when it comes to repairing DVDs (including manually polishing with Brasso and similar hand-cranked tools that polish in a circular motion rather than radially) and I've had the best results with the SkipDr. It hasn't been able to fix every disc I've tried but it has helped me with a most scratched discs that were previously unreadable, and it's much quicker and less messy than manual polishing attempts. The device's wheel polishes from the centre of the disc outward. This leaves radial marks on the surface of the disc (it will not look "like new", and if the original scratch was restricted to a small part of the disc it will probably look worse than it did before being run through the SkipDr). However, DVD players will typically cope with this sort of mark much better than they will with a circumferential scratch that is aligned with the data track, and the SkipDr does a good job of smoothing out those scratches. It may however take a few cycles to repair deeper scratches, and very deep scratches may be beyond the SkipDr's capabilities - a recent second-hand purchase had two deep circumferential scratches (presumably scratched by the previous owner's DVD player's disc tray or similar) and it took eight full cycles through the SkipDr to render it 100% readable but it was still significantly less hassle than having to return the disc to the shop. If you have a DVD collection and buy discs from those who may not take particularly good care of their discs then the SkipDr is worth having as a quick and convenient tool to try to fix discs.

Buy a new disc rather than waste money on this
The SkipDr works by skimming the top surface of your disc. It does not clean your disc. It removes a very thin layer of the clear coating over the silver data layer. Therefore it does remove scratches. But it also removes the protective coating. And not in a pretty way. The first disc I put in had one clearly visible scratch. After using the SkipDr the scratch was removed. Result??? No. The disc now looked like there was a fine mist covering it. On closer inspection you could it was fine scratches. But the scratch scratch was gone so no more jumping. True the disc did not jump anymore.. But that was because it would not play AT ALL!!! I tried again with an old CD and got the same result. Even with adding more of the special cleaning fluid, ie distiller water. The CD would no longer play. I would use this only as a last resort AND you don't mind throwing the disc in the bin if it doesn't work. Cheaper to buy a new DVD, Blu Ray, CD or PS4 game than wasting your money on this.

Works on lightly scratched DVDs but does not perform miracles
Decided to give this a try, as I have loads of DVDs that kids ruined. It works on light scratches. I had 3 wii games that were not working. It repaired the one with the superficial scratches, after several applications , but not the other two with slightly deeper damage. Similarly it repaired one DVD completely out of 3. The other 2 freezing still occurs where scratches were too deep. Also on the box it says that the wheel needs exchanging after 20 DVDs.( not clear whether that means after 20 rotations, as deeper scratches need several go,s) All in all I do not regret buying as it fixes some DVDs but will not perform miracles.

Brilliant for cd and dvd based video games
Used this on a Sega Dreamcast game that wouldn’t load! After running the disk through this machine a few times the game now works perfectly! Definitely a good purchase if like me you love retro disk based games.

Not a miricle worker, but it works..
Not a miracle worker, but it works, i managed to saved extremely old dvds using this, dvds that where just about 15 years old, i got rid of most of the aging and scratches and those dvds look almost new now, they work fine too, but a little warning though, you need to be extremely careful using this product, it really gets in there when you use it, i found doing only 3 to 4 short crank turns gets the job done, you'll ruin your disc if you go to hard trust me, but it works..

SkipDr saved my DVD!!!
I wasn't sure whether this product was going to help me given the wide variety of reviews but I took a chance. One of the discs of a rather expensive box set was "resurfaced" thanks to my baby boy. It didn't play in any DVD player. Before I opt for a homemade method I gave SkipDr a spin. It took three treatments but the disc is back to life with no indication there was ever a problem. The scoring on the surface of the DVD which is mentioned in other reviews is not at all as bad as I thought it would be. Follow the instructions carefully and I'm sure Skip Doctor will work for you.
