AMAZING OLIVE OIL- BUT ARRIVED FROZEN SOLID- BEWARE
This is amazing Olive Oil. It's the exact oil Carrabbas uses for the dipping bread, which is exactly why we bought it. However, although the product is perfect and I have no complaints about the product itself it arrived COMPLETELY FROZEN SOLID. I still gave it 5 stars because its not the product's fault, but if you live somewhere cold be advised. I understand that this is Northeast Pennsylvania in the Winter so it IS cold, but we removed it from our porch the moment it was delivered so what that tells me is that it sat in a frigid warehouse or Amazon truck for a very long time in the cold because freezing olive oil solid would take a few hours. So just a warning to anyone ordering food products in the Winter it may come frozen solid. Sure, not a huge deal but we spent a lot of money on a tiny bottle of oil just to have a taste of Carrabbas (we don't have one near where we live) and now we have to thaw it. WE wanted it for our Friday night stay home date night and now my husband is trying to thaw it with warm water so our wine, oil, and bread evening isn't spoiled. I also sure hope this doesn't impact the quality or the taste of the oil. Again, I get that it's cold here but come on. Amazon makes billions of dollars- heat your damn trucks at least above freezing. 40 degrees would do the trick. It's just disappointing- dont sell food products if you can't handle it! Otherwise, amazing oil and if you search Carrabbas spice recipe and buy a loaf of French bread dough so you can bake it warm to dip, this is a perfect treat on a cold evening over some wine

Rancid/Bitter & Good Chance Fake Mixed In
Two thirds to as much as 80% (according to a Forbes article) of extra virgin olive oil is fake. They often contain completely different oils and/or chemically produced low grade olive oil. The bottle of Borges I recently purchased from a local store says it came from 3 countries - Spain, Greece and Tunisia. Lots of room here for fake plus if the oil is from 3 different countries, how fresh is every batch and were they are produced at the same time? The Borges EVOO I purchased tasted both old and bitter but which of the 3 oils mixed in is the offender(s) and is it even olive oil. Also Borges does not have any certification. Read up on fake olive oil and it will surprise you! Look for oils from Australia as they have the highest olive oil standards of any country. Chile is also a safer bet as well as the state of California (Borges is from California but imports its oils so read the label) and look for the COOC certification of California extra virgin olive oil or the European Unions PDO (protected destination of origin) or Italy's DOP seal. Buyer beware!
