Why didn’t I get this sooner
I spent hundreds on sprays and what not to try to keep my cats off the counters. I understand cats do what cats do but one of my cats ended up poisoning himself by getting into places he shouldn’t. He is okay but he did struggle for a bit there. Since then, I want to keep him away from licking or eating things that will be bad for him since he doesn’t have it within himself to have some self control and stop eating the spatulas and licking the oil. Anyway, one try is what took and they stopped jumping on the counter. He jumped right off. He still sits in the kitchen and tries to figure out a way but this is waaay cheaper than the other methods I have tried

These sharp plastic prongs
I only ordered these as a last resort after trying for 8 months to keep my new fur-baby kitty off of the counters and then working her way up to dangerous heights and places. So when I received these I placed several on the floor in front of her and I stepped on it and then yelled OW! It does hurt. Then I showed her me placing them around all over the counters with the edge of them showing (so she would know they are there) and I explained why I was using them to keep her off. I left the one on the floor for her to try which she did and quickly withdrew her foot. I later saw her trying to power her way through it unsuccessfully. She was still trying it the next day. She tried once jumping up but quickly rebounded off. She never acted injured afterward but now she no longer tries. However she still looks for the edges of them hanging over to show her they are still there. She has grown and is now about one inch short of touching the overhang which I believe she plans to try to pull down when I am out or sleeping. We will see. If she succeeds I will post my solution. Please be sure they understand you still love them. I bought mine some tunnels to play inside of. One in the kitchen and one in the living room which have helped to preoccupy her attention.

They work, could be better quality. I will be buying another set in the near future.
I have 5 cats. I am a crazy cat man.Sanity is a thin line to chase. Cats are little furry maniacs. That is why you are looking at these. We love our maniacs, but we enjoy using things for a while or keeping the litter critters out of a spot or area for our own sanity.Pros:- Cats don't like it, but they will go over it if they can do it at a complete run. I can work with that.- The tiles are decent sized, made to lock together (see Cons too), and are easily trimmable to fit into tight or odd spots.- The spikes are big. I'm afraid to step on this thing, definitely a Lego competitor in that aspect 100 %.Cons:- They are kinda flimsy. Not a deal breaker, but was hoping for just a bit more, ya know.- They slide easy, and cats will figure that out pretty quick if they are determined or motivated enough. Little bit of double sided tape or similar works.- The con from earlier. They are made to lock together, and do with a caveat. You need to tie them together along with threading the tabs or duck tape them together from underneath. I used tiny zip ties, the holes are already in them. This could have been a much better design. Just play Tetris by spinning them around until you are happy with how they line up and secure them together.

It actually works
This is the only thing that will keep my cats off the stove and counter. Easy to use and store away when not using. At first your cats will likely jump up on them and realize they don’t like the feeling and won’t do it again. Well, that’s what mine did anyways. Except there was this one time one of my cats jumped up a second time when we weren’t home and knocked one on the floor. We got home and my husband walked into the kitchen without turning the light on and slipped on it and fell directly on top breaking a few of the spikes. User error lol aside from that, great product!

CAT TRAINING TOOL
Works as intended. I have raised garden beds which the neighborhood ferals have turned into their large, personal litter box. I placed these on top of the soil as a "training tool." I only saw evidence of one attempt at entry, but it's been a week now and I hope they have decided to look elsewhere to "do their duty." I still catch them in the yard on our video cameras, but they are now avoiding the raised beds.Once I'm confident they are fully trained, I can begin planting again. My husband has also placed some on the ground next to our fence to discourage them coming over the fence. Seems to be working there also.

Life back to normal.
I absolutely love these mats. I have tried everything to keep 11mo cat off dining room table, nightstands and side tables. I've tried fake snakes, sprays, sticky tape and various other methods that people recommended. Nothing has worked. Finally gave in and let him have the sofa and chairs. These mats are perfect size. The spikes are probably uncomfortable for him but there won't hurt him. They are pretty tall but the tips aren't sharp (kind of blunt). I placed 1 in each corner of table & the 1st time he jumped up there was his last. He has not jumped up there in 2 days. I even put some on the spare bed and he has not jumped up there either. I feel like my life is back in order now that he is not knocking over stuff. I will be purchasing again so I can place some outside to keep the stray animals off my stuff outside.
