I have received this today , it’s charged but when I turn it on nothing happens. I have tried the +and - buttons but nothing is happening ? Any ideas

Are you using on/off switch at the bottom of handle? I had same problem until found this switch. It will need a further charge to bring it up to the max of 99%. I found this a great little machine

Can I use this Massage gun deep tissue on my back?

It has 12 separate massage heads and several are for the back and shoulders. So I would say yes if you have someone to assist you. I mainly use mine for my legs and feet, and it works really well.
