Feels exactly like the original to me
I picked this up after finding a rare Zelda game I had never heard of. I have a snes somewhere…..but old systems don’t have hdmi out, and playing them on a new hd 4k tv is a problem. There are adaptors out there, but top of the line ones are $300+. This system is great, and a super good buy at $60. HDMI works perfect, sound is perfect, the controllers are super nice. Saves seem to be perfect. If you are a super super hardcore retro gamer, the Analog brand SNES may be more your thing if you can find one, but this is basically 100% a Super Nintendo for $60. It has a switch on the back that you can flip mid game for different video resolutions. They both look fine. On my tv one was small screen but looked great and the other was full 60” and looked 99% as good. Mine came with two wired controllers with super long cords, an HDMI cable for your tv, and a small adapter so you can plug into the wall. You don’t need anything else but physical games. This does not have games pre-installed. The build quality is really good and doesn’t feel cheap at all. I looked around and watched 20 ish hours of YouTube, this is the system to get. There is a better system out there….from a company called Analog…..but they have been sold out forever so you’ll pay scalper prices ($500+) on eBay. Packaging was nice and factory sealed.

Excellent build and performance
I had some reservations initially about buying this Console, but I really wanted an easy solution to play my Super Nintendo games on my HD TVs and after a bit of research, I decided to take a chance with this model. The build quality is really good. I can't stress this enough, especially for a console at this price. Additionally, it plays all of my cartridges with no problem, including my original cartridges and the Data East collection (multi-game cart) which I ordered at the same time. I played through 2 hours of Chrono Trigger with no noticeable lag or any visible glitches with audio or video. I found that game and every other one I tried (DKC, MK, PM) very playable at the 16:9 aspect which I was not expecting. I also tried the switch to change the aspect ratio to 4:3 and everything looked good there as well. I was very impressed with how good the games looked on my 4K TV, better than when displaying from my SuperNes Classic. Part of that may be the features of my particular set (A Visio M series 65") but I was very impressed in any event. To my ear, the sound was flawless although there may be some games where that is not the case. I actually found the sound to be just as good as or better than the audio output from my original SuperNes. All in all, this is well worth the asking price. The console is also packaged very well - see photos. It includes 1 Micro USB cable, One HDMI cable, one RCA audio video cable and one AC adapter. I also really love the light that comes on in the right corner when the unit is on. The cartridge eject button is a great feature as well and works just as it should. Currently, I am powering the console off of a USB hub connected to my PC, but there is an included AC adapter as well. The controllers are really good. They feel perfect in my hand and operate well with no lag at all. The 10 foot cord is a nice touch as well. I was really surprised at just how good these controllers felt. I suppose that some people got defective units which is why they posted negative reviews, I'm not sure. I will update this if the performance degrades.

Worked.. Then dead.. Not happy at all.. Very disappointing.. 😒
I purchased this, on January 19th of this year.. We used it two times, right at the beginning of getting it.. And we just recently had an internet outage with Comcast, so I figured why not hook this up for our son.. Keep in mind, I also had my original super nintendo hooked up first.. It ran great, we enjoyed a few games, then swapped out for a different one, and it took a dump.. So, I was like, well I've got this one in the front room, why not disconnect it, and put in his room, till I can figure out what happened to my original one.. Nope, I hooked this thing up, and original screen comes up, and then nothing but a blank screen.. Tried hooking it up originally to my front room, and nothing as well... Not happy at all right now...

Works great and is a great alternative to the SNES
This product is awesome. I never had any fear purchasing this because I have trusted hyperkin for years between cables and hardware. This was great. $80 is a great price for up-to-date hardware that hyperkin follows by, and this is a great alternative for those who would love to dip back into their SNES collection, but can't afford it as an SNES goes for $150 and all you need is this comes with two controllers, cable hooks up for both RCA/ HDMI hookup so thats Great! You just need to purchase an everdriver for SNES and you're all set to go. This item looks great out of the box and can also switch between wide and normal screen and can swap from normal to pal version and also supports famicon

Excellent System
This system works great ! I purchased this to play all my old SNES games on a modern tv and I am impressed. The picture quality is pretty good and has played all my carts no problem. I really like the eject button on the system. It has 2 screen picture options 16:9 and 4:3, 16:9 looks stretched but 4:3 looks perfect. The controller is nice and works well but I prefer the original SNES controller. I also purchased this bc I was tired of waiting on Analogue to make more Super NT systems available and to be honest, after my good experience with this I really don't want a Super NT. More money for games with the money I saved. I would recommend this unit to anyone who just wants to play Thier old carts on modern televisions.

Great for someone that wants to play original carts
This device is great for someone that wants to just play old carts not as good as the greatest thing out there from Analogue but for what you pay for it its great hd output is good for and sound reproduction is good as well. Comes with both HDMI and rca. Rca sound suffers a bit but i think its a case similar to the casettee players where the good parts and chips for rca are no longer being made so its its harder to come by good parts but sound is the only thing that suffers but only just a humm when nothing is playing. Outputs stereo sound so better than alot of clone consoles. Plays all region carts and has switches for both ntsc/pal and 4:3/16:9. Have no snes rom cart to test but super gameboy works as well as a gb rom cart in super gameboy. Don't have starfox or other fx chip carts to test either

A good HD snes player with a couple of issues
Product plays well. It is straight from cartridge, not emulation. Mine came out of the [sealed] box with minor damage to the cartridge “flaps” but this doesn’t affect play. However: avoid using the eject button, as it makes horrifying sounds as it pushes the cart out. Much easier to pull it out normally. The controllers are very bad, I had to replace with a bona fide snes controller. The controllers do not process diagonal directions. This makes games like Street Fighter impossible to play. Overall a nice product; I guess I am lucky I had a spare controller ready. NOTE for purchasers: if the system tells you that a game is not meant for play on the system, flip the switch on the bottom of the unit.

This thing is seriously great.
First off, let me just say that I am a huge fan of the SNES. It's my favorite retro system of all time and I have a pretty good sized library of games for it. I was looking for the best, most affordable way to play my SNES games on a modern display for quite a while and thought my only option was going to be buying an expensive upscaler like a Retrotink or saving up and buying the Analogue Super NT. Then I found the Supa Retron. This console was basically exactly what I was looking for. I had tried multiple "HD cables" for my original SNES and none of them ever looked good or worked right. This console outputs a clean image with bright colors and as someone who's played A LOT of SNES games throughout their life, I can barely tell a difference in the image. It honestly feels like you're playing on an original machine that's got a clean signal boosted up to 720p. Let me reiterate this, if you are looking for an affordable way to play your SNES games on a modern display, look no further. You don't need to spend hundreds of dollars to make it happen, and you don't need to settle for bad cables that make the image quality look smudgy and terrible. I've not had a single cartridge be incompatible with it and that's awesome. I thought for sure I'd have one game not run on it but I've played probably 80 or 90 different games and not one has struggled to load yet. Combine that with the two controllers that came with it, and you've got a really good value here for around $75. I was not expecting to like this thing as much as I do but man...Hyperkin you nailed it.

Good Purchase for Casual Retro Gamers
If you are a Casual Retro Gamer who likes to play SNES Cartridges then I would suggest picking up this console. If you are a Hardcore Retro Gamer, i'd give it a miss. Pros - Easy to Setup / Good Quality Controllers / Works with both PAL & NTSC Cartridges Cons - Console Build Quality feels cheap / No Three Pin Plug for power but does come with USB cable.
