Is mefix tape supposed to have a smell to it? I bought this tape and it does

I can't say it has a strong smell but it does smell a bit, hope this helps. If it is very sticky its good Ive used it on my big toe for weeks and not once did it come undone or fall off, a very good product, if you need something that will keep skin stuck to the tape

is this waterproof and breathable

Water resistant (spashes etc) but definitely not waterproof. I would probably say it's semi-breathable. Been usung the product for several years (long term health issues). I have never experienced problems with skin irritation or other issued

Is this suitable for covering tattoos?

I am an enthusiastic supporter of Mefix, it has helped me walk without pain in my knees for the best part of a year, but I doubt whether it would be a satisfactory covering for tattoos. It is not very slightly and comes off after a couple of weeks and if it covers a joint it will develop creases. Having said that. the real answer to the question is that I don't know and I have never tried!

Is it sticky over the whole surface?

Yes it is. You peel off the paper and one side is completely sticky. Holds dressings in place brilliantly.
