Standalone or up to Win8.1 compatible - great for slides.
Works quickly in the taking of a photo for each slide in a few seconds and takes about a 5 megapixel photo of each which can blow out to an 8x10 inch each. Allows display review on the device and comes with a 1G SD card and it came charged, so ready to use out of the box for the one I purchased. It can be used off chargeable battery or with dedicated power with AC charger to mini USB. Two quirks were when I was wanting to switch back from photo review to camera, I turned power back off and on to get that to work. Other was with slides, sometimes the middle slide would not allow the magnetic closure to be flat enough for the middle slide to go through, but I could get the end ones to go through. So I would spend a bit of time trying to make sure the slides were as flat as possible. If I could not get the middle slide through, I would take the slide holder out and put the middle slide in an available end and that would be thin enough to work. This device also has a USB connector for computer to offload directly there. It is compatible up to Windows 8.1 and probably is for Windows 10, but I found the SD card and the display on the device did the trick just great. It is also a good device to review slides or negatives on television or monitor or device itself.
