Great customer service.
Great customer service. The Eufy Smart Plug mini was very easy to set up and worked great right away with the Eufy App. However, I was initially frustrated when trying to make it work properly with Amazon Alexa. Alexa could turn it off (with verbal command), but could not turn it back on verbally. Yet it worked fine using the button in the Alexa App. I sent an email to Eufy customer support and very quickly got a response and after exchanging several emails and doing a few resets, it now works great. Still not exactly sure why it wasn't working in the first place, but I was very impressed with the level of customer service from Eufy. They have even checked back with me twice to make sure it's still working and to make sure I'm happy with the product. I would not hesitate to buy another product from them. Regarding the plug itself, I really like that it is small enough to only take up one outlet, has an on/off switch on the plug, is very economically priced and, so far, has not been "glitchie" like some of the other smart plugs I've had that would randomly disconnect from the network.

Works well
Edit 6-3-18: So the good people at Eufy emailed to let me know the app had been updated. Ran the app through its paces, and other than being a little on the slow side, it seems to work perfectly. Even the toggle on/off feature. Also connected it to my Google Home and everything went off without a hitch. Since my only gripe about the plug was the app, and that seems to have been resolved, I'm upgrading my rating from 3 to 5 stars. *** Edit 4-24-18: The people from Eufy contacted me personally to let me know they sent my concerns about the app to their IT department. They also said they would contact me when the app is updated. So A+ for customer service. If the app is improved in the next update, I'll definitely change my rating. ***** Original review 4-1-18: Hardware: excellent. Streamlined and small enough so that it doesn't block the other outlets on the surge protector. Eufy app: Although the installation process was painless, the app is almost epically terrible. As in, I couldn't even get it to toggle my device on and off. Which sorta defeats the purpose. 😑 Amazon Echo: The Euphy Smart Plug's saving grace. Alexa CAN toggle your device on and off, both from the app and by voice. ☺️ Plus it's easier to name your device from the Alexa app. Bonus. Three stars because the native app should, you know, work. You shouldn't have to buy a home assistant whatchamacallit just to get it to function.

Great at first, but now useless (UPDATED: WORKING)
Review 11/27 Victoria from the CSR team of Eufy reached out and sent me 2 replacement plugs. Like before, setup was a breeze and each found my network within seconds and connected no problem. Both have functioned as advertised/expected with adherence to schedules and manual control. The plugs work -- and I'm thankful for the replacement (and have thus updated my review from 2 star to 4 star) and hope that the issue doesn't return after several months of use (7 months from purchase to issues). **************************************************** Review 11/16 I purchased two of these switches so that I could automate the lights in my 2 children's rooms. Each smart outlet plug controls a light that lets the kids know when to get up, and when its time to go to bed. When the outlets first arrived, they were very easy to setup. Blinking orange/blue lights let you know that it is ready to be paired/associated with your internet. Using the app -- all of this is a guided process. You select a 2.4Ghz network (sorry, won't work with 5Ghz), enter your password, give the device a nickname, and you're done. All is well. I even connected my Eufy account (and schedules that I setup in the app) to my Google account so I could utilize the Google Assistant functionality to turn on/off the plugs on an irregular cadence. Until... Suddenly, neither light wants to work. Let me elaborate. "Hey Google, turn on the Kids light" - to which it responds - "my apologies, looks like that light isn't set up". I confirmed that the account was still connected to Google, I remember updating both plugs with the most recent firmware several weeks ago, and I confirmed that the outlets had sufficient power to power appliances plugged into them. So, I deleted the plugs and attempted to re-pair them using the "reset process" steps in the app. "Hold the power button in for 5 seconds until the light blinks blue & then orange". I did this. twenty times. It still only blinks orange. Eventually, I got one plug(God only knows how) to reset -- I then clicked on my home network (dual band 2.4 & 5.0) and entered my password, only to now be told "sorry, 5.0 isn't supported" and it wouldn't let me continue...several more tries and for some reason I was able to bypass this error. I re-setup the schedule, confirmed the plug could be remotely controlled, and that it turned off at the correct time... Then...5am..."Daddy, is it time to get up?" UGH. I checked the schedule. It shouldn't turn on until 7.15am. Why on earth is it 2 hours early? As of now, both units sit beside my computer -- useless. 1 can not be connected to at all, and the other has failed to uphold the schedule that I set for it. Do yourself a favor -- skip these. Eufy, please, prove me wrong. These are a great price, but not worth the wakeup at 5am every day if that's what's to be expected.

backed by anker; buggy and not reliable
second update: Two days after last update power tracking kwh on the app reset to 0, the hour usage still tracks fine. Spent 40mins talking with eufy support chat, made sure phone and app was updated, removed and re-added device, hard reset device, customer service is great and tried their best. They said no one else has had this issue but would forward it to engineers and work on a fix. This product is buggy and unreliable, the only reason it is two stars is for the amazing customer service. I'm returning and going to get another brand smartplug; maybe eufy generation 2 plug will be better. updated review: Support contacted me and helped me with the issues that eufy support chat couldn't. Original issue, 1) no realtime power monitor 2)needs hub device to control with voice 3) unhelpful at troubleshooting support. 4)eufy chat spamming "not online" when chatting with help 1) realtime power monitoring is likely a software issues and support forwarded it to product manager to "maybe" add in the future 2) eufy support and google support helped me figure you can control with voice using google assistant on your phone. Eufy app had misleading instructions that sent me to google home app, which they say will be updated. I linked google assistant and eufy home to control by voice; gave the plug nickname of "lamp" and can now just say "hey google turn off lamp" and it works fast and flawlessly. This keeps me from getting a google home which feels more invasive that my phone. 3&4) Eufy support through amazon helped me with the issue and forwarded my complaints to manager and software to work on fixes. Reading other reviews the product seemed to have early software issues but is solid and works fine as of june19 2018. The power tracking is nice to see daily and weekly power usage. I don't need a smart home device I can just control it with my voice on phone. I haven't messed with schedule or timer but when I go on vacation I likely will then. The product still has minor software issues but for the price and with Anker backing it up I'll trust them and know updates will make it an even better product. old review: TLDR: Doesn't show real time power draw/ doesn't work with google phone with assistant, so not "hubless" for voice control/ I can turn outlet on and off by pressing power button in app, real "smart" Misleading description, I want to see real time current power draw, it only shows kwh daily, total and tracks up to a year. I wanted to compare when plugging different devices into a power strip that eufy controls, like my pc monitors and speakers or different lighting setups. Then it says it requires no hub, so it becomes a glorified on off switch over wifi. I have a google pixel phone with google assistant and I followed instructions and even used eufy help chat with google home app to try to connect with assistant to control with voice. It can't be done, so "hubless" doesn't work for me, and I have no way to control with voice without a google home or alexa. So the "hubless" claim seems like a lie, the chat rep said "just link it to google home", I said I can't and he said "hmm.. it is possible you might need a hub then." Then he said "that's odd. ill definitely let the developers know." That was all the helpful direction I got. So the direction to link in the eufy app suck and are misleading as well as the eufy chat is unable to troubleshoot. I have to manually open app and press power button, real "smart." The eufy help person was nice and tried to help, but every 10secs a huge "sorry we are not available at the moment msg would fill my screen" even though I was currently chatting with a person. This feels like a beta or kickstarter project and not a product associated with anker. I have tons of anker cables, chargers, bluetooth speaker and earbuds, and battery banks. I see why they made the new brand eufy, so it wouldn't hurt the anker good name. This product is not smart and does not do what I expected. Maybe the next version or a software update will fix it, until then I'm out.

Their Customer Service goes above & beyond!
Good product...Even better customer service. During the initial setup, I was getting frustrated as I was having some difficulties so I called Eufy customer service. I did not hold at all before reaching a rep within seconds & I noticed right away that their customer service is U.S. based which is somewhat unusual these days (Amazon can't even say that any more if you ever call them). Their customer service rep Kevin was very friendly, knowledgeable about the product, and helped me get their smart plug set up quickly At the end of the call, I still had to setup the smart plug on my Alexa app which I wouldn't expect them to do since its an Amazon product. 15 minutes later, Kevin called me back to see if I was successful at getting their eufy Smart Plug Mini By Anker, Works With Amazon Alexa & Google Assistant, Wi-Fi, White, No Hub Required, Set Schedules, Countdown Timer, Control Remotely, Away Mode, with Energy Monitoring, 15A smart plug set up on Alexa. I was shocked that a customer service rep would go to that extent to make sure I was satisfied with their product. I was extremely impressed! I should also note that the parent company of Eufy is Anker which is a very reputable brand that sells smart phone cords, charges, etc. I will be buying all of my future smart plugs from Eufy!

Error Error
This is my review, it may work great for others but this what happened to me. I have Verizon Fios, iPhone X with latest update. I downloaded app. and registered. looked pretty interesting until I went to install new device and this is when I notice maybe a bug (error: please connect to WiFi). So I tried again and followed instructions and when I got to go to settings and click on eufy xxx what would happen is that the WiFi would not work. So I figured I had a work around and disabled cellular. And tried again and still got error message to connect to WiFi so I did not get any future. So maybe they can put patch and revise software in the future or something along those lines. It looked promising as device looked well made.

Much better than the competition
I bought two of these after I became tired of using 4 Wemo smart plugs. The Wemo plugs were difficult to pair, difficult to set up, the app is buggy as heck, and they have the tendency to routinely disappear from the app. Given the reviews, I decided to give Eufy a try. And I am glad I did. Setup was similar to that in the Wemo app, but unlike it, the Eufy smart plugs appeared immediate and pairing them to the app was a breeze. In less than 5 minutes per switch I was up and running. The apps interface is clean and it gets the job done. You can control the plug, and even check your power usage, a feature which is really nice to have even if I do not use it all the time. Finally, there is integration with smart platforms. Sadly, there’s no HomeKit integration, but there is Google Home as well as Amazon Alexa integration. Pairing the plugs with my Amazon Echos was an easy process: download the Skill, log into it using your Eufy account credentials, then ask Alexa to search for smart home devices. That’s it. Your new plugs will appear in the Alexa app. HomeKit integration is the one thing this thing is missing to make it perfect. As it stands however, given how well they work and how easy they are to set up, and that I feel that I have not wasted my money as I do with the Wemo’s, I think these Eufy Smart Plug Mini’s deserve 5 stars. If they ever push a software update to make them HomeKit compatible I will given them 6! Update 8/2019: so one of my plugs started becoming unresponsive randomly, and only unplugging it plugging it back in would help, but only for a while. I reached out to Eufy and within 2 days I received a message saying that they thought my switch was faulty and were sending me a replacement. So, it’s good to see that not only do they have a great product but they also stand by it with great service!!

Works perfectly with ac units in most cases
Works fine. I wanna address some of the bad reviews which made me question whether I should buy this product or not. The first bad review I saw said that their item wouldn't work with their AC. This is a problem you can figure out by turning on your AC and unplugging it while it's turned on, waiting 5 seconds and plugging it back in and see if it turns on. If your AC unit does turn on then this item will work with your AC unit. My AC unit has a digital control board and it still works with it. The second bad review I saw talked about the heating up of the item. The item only heats up if you use the AC at max setting and is constantly on. If you are a person that needs the room to be always really cold and the AC unit always on, then this item will definitely overheat. I have my preference set at 76 degrees and my room has three large windows and that is good enough for me, so my AC unit cools my room down to 76 and then turns off but leaves the fan on until the temperature rises and the AC starts blowing cold air again. If you're looking for your AC to be always on then this might not be for you
