Performance is too bad and never recommendable.

Bought this after trying so many microphones and this one actually works. Been trying to add audio to my CCTV system for years. Tried time and time again without any success so over the moon with this one. Turn the gain screw anticlockwise on this one as it picks up very clearly and if its left on full it'll make a racket with feedback through the speakers. Happy bunny.

1 star off for misleading ad or box? 4 stars for decent sound at a low price. Ad says 16000hz, Box says 6000hz. VMS software only lets you select 16khz or 32khz. But it works, so either VMS doesn't really care its 6000hz, or its really 16000hz & the box is wrong? This one makes much less humming than the "power passthrough" version. That one wouldn't work well and made a loud humming noise with the "denoise" feature on from VMS. Whether you used power passthrough or not. Much better sound with this one with "denoise" on. I made a wind sock from AC pre filter "open cell foam". I cut a length a bit wider than the mic, wrapped the mic twice, then used lo temp hot glue to keep it in place. Then glued the open sides shut like a pizza roll if that makes sense. This made it even better because we have a slight constant wind in michigan which would cut out any sound that isn't loud. Windsock pizza roll worked perfect and its very clear. Hope this helps someone.

I usually use the standard thin CCTV mics with the heat shrink over the mini-circuit board and thought I'd give this one a try. Must say I'm very impressed, the sound quality and sensitivity is better, so if you have the space and can keep it in the dry, this is the daddy.

I bought this microphone to connect to my Hikvision DVR. Its simple to connect and easy to adjust the sensitivity using the blue screw at the bottom. After connecting i fitted it to the soffit (inside) and the microphone picks up the slightest sound. However, no matter what much i adjust the sensitivity i cannot get rid of a "hissing" sound. Turning the screw down to stop the hissing means its not sensitive enough to pick up any sound. But overall, its a very good product.
