Enjoyable action
science fiction action film based on Hasbro's Transformers toy line, and primarily influenced by its Beast Wars sub-franchise. It is the seventh installment in the Transformers film series and serves as a standalone sequel to Bumblebee (2018).[8] The film is directed by Steven Caple Jr. from a screenplay by Joby Harold, Darnell Metayer, Josh Peters, Erich Hoeber, and Jon Hoeber. Michael Bay again serves as producer. It stars Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback, as well as the voice talents of Ron Perlman, Peter Dinklage, Michelle Yeoh, Pete Davidson, Liza Koshy, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Colman Domingo, Cristo Fernández, Tongayi Chirisa, and returning franchise regulars Peter Cullen, John DiMaggio, and David Sobolov. Set in 1994, the film follows ex-military electronics expert Noah Diaz and artifact researcher Elena Wallace as they help the Autobots and the Maximals protect an artifact known as the Transwarp Key from the villainous Terrorcons. Principal photography took place from June to October 2021, with filming locations including Los Angeles, Peru, Montreal, and New York City.Enjoyable action with the transformation autobots and the animals join in too the human characters are probably the weaker element but they won't spoil your enjoyment.

The coming of Unicron
A new Transformers movie. They've been around long enough that everyone should have some familiarity with and be aware of the whole franchise by now. This one takes place in new York in 1994. It is thus set after the most recent film 'Bumblebee.' Which it does reference. That's the only real continuity in that way. You could get by without having seen that. But that general familiarity with the whole franchise concept that I mentioned is going to be a necessity to get into this.Basically: there's one group of good robots that look like animals. There's another group of bad robots who we've not seen in a live action Transformers movie before. Their leader is Scourge. Voiced by Peter Dinklage. I wouldn't have realised it was him if I'd not read it, so that does show what a good job of making him a character he does.Anyway, they fight over a maguffin. Because Scourge works for the planet eating robot Unicron [who was foreshadowed at the end of Transformers: the Last knight, but that film never got follow on]. Said Maguffin ends up on Earth. Every robot wants it.New York 1994. We have two humans: Noah. And Elena. Noah is ex military. Down on his luck. Looking for a break. Elena is an underappreciated museum intern. Both get involved with the Transformers when they turn up. And everyone goes after the Mcguffin. Globe trotting and robot battles ensue. This tries to balance humans and robots. Bumblebee could have done with a little more action from the latter, as good as it was otherwise. You do get a reasonably sized main cast of Transformers. One of the foremost being Mirage [Pete Davison] who is hip and straight talking and a dude! He could be annoying. But he just falls short of that. His bond of friendship with Noah works okay.Optimus Prime is in a thoroughly bad mood throughout all this film. Peter Cullen as his voice is as amazing as ever. It does give him decent material to work with. There's lots of spectacle. Eccentric characters who aren't annoying. Thankfully. And lots of robots fighting. It's all what you'd expect. This is perfectly.....good. It just never quite blows you away. The human characters were fine but I didn't quite care for them in the way I have for others in this franchise. There wasn't a great sense of jeopardy even with the stakes as they are. But it's watchable enough. Enough to just about rate four stars. The final scene tries to set something up. Which I would be surprised if it happens. There is one extra scene very early in the end credits. Which is worth seeing.A perfectly capable Transformers film. No more. No less. But still a good watch. The disc has the following language and subtitle options:Languages: English. French [Parisian]. Italian. Castilian Spanish. English audio descriptive.Subtitles: English. Danish. Dutch. Finnish. French [Parisian]. Italian. Norwegian. Castilian Spanish. Swedish.Three extras:Human affairs. Six mins about the human characters and actors.Life in the 90's. Six mins about how the setting was brought to life. The chase: six mins about how a chase scene was filmed. These are all quite good for what they are, and thus worth a watch.
