In 1872, John Henry Clayton (Kiefer Sutherland) retires as a gunfighter and returns to his hometown of Fowler, Wyoming in hope of repairing his relationship with his estranged father, Reverend Clayton (Donald Sutherland). However, he soon learns that the town is in turmoil, as the railroad will be coming through the area and a criminal gang is terrorizing ranchers who refuse to sell their land. John Henry is the only one who can stop them, but his father does not want his son to return to a life of violence. Review: Dvd - Great dvd Review: If you like old westerns don't miss this one - This is a really good western, although very traditional compared to some of the other best ones done lately. Not stellar, but almost. Nice simple, but good, story, no surprises. Good cast, the Sutherlands are very good together, Demi Moore is simple but very effective, Wincot and Cox are competent in their smaller roles. One of the best westerns of the last 25 years.

Good solid western, worth a look.
Kiefer Sutherland is no Clint Eastwood, he'll never be tall enough, rough enough or mean enough... he's about half way there in this western movie, that's a bit short on running time. Brian Cox is no Gene Hackman or Richard Harris either, he aint big enough, suave enough or cold blooded enough, he's about half way there too. This movie has great promise, good script, and good story line, but the running time didn't allow the subplots or the ending to pan out enough. Suffice to say, this is no Unforgiven, it's about half way there. But you should take it for what it is and who is in it. The start was good, and the middle section was just coming to the boil, but had this movie had an extra 20 mins to develop itself a bit further... we'd have seen a proper come-back from ole Mr Sutherland. But as it stands, this was a competent effort, worth watching, with enough grit, steel and a proper western mentality to watch all the way to the end. The real life father/son combination works on screen too. But this isn't Young Guns, it lacks a bit in the action department, there are no wild chases through the woods or on horseback, it's a bit one paced in that sense. I liked the story, and even if he just rides off with no woman or place to especially go, he's fulfilled what he went back to do. Didn't like the swearing that only came later on by Brian Cox's character, why only him and no one else? Either have it full on or not at all, no point just one character, that otherwise uses big words to swear too and no one hardly else doing the same. I guess that's a gripe, with the running time, and lack of action. Three things missing, for only four stars...

ENJOYABLE LOW BUDGET WESTERN !
Enjoyable , traditional style ,western which is a bit unoriginal and a tad formulaic . A very nice cast with interesting 'father & son' scenes . Worth a look , especially for western fans. shades of 'High Noon' & 'Unforgiven'. Not bad at all !

Marvellous Western
Father and son have got to find their way, a gunfighter and a priest with a railroad coming through the town and the bad guys wanting the land killing, forcing people to leave only one man can stop them. He is not wearing his guns, now this is the question will he or wont he take part. Father saying no and him with his own feelings. I rated this an A grade plus for the suspense that had me glued to the chair waiting for the next that's the killing part waiting. Okay time for you to decide what's next movie or treats I could tell you more but than that will spoil it. This one you can relax a bit okay but don't want to put you to sleep as that wont happen. Enjoy!

DVD
The DVD was scratched and in watchable it was a real shame. It was new and sealed so nobody would know. The delivery was prompted so can’t fault it

Excellent Drama
Excellent drama between father and son. Really enjoyed it. So much more than a cowboy film, which I normally don't watch.

Conforme
Blu ray reçu rapidement. Bon western,très bien construit, j'ai regardé avec beaucoup de plaisir. L' histoire est très bien ficelée, contre la violence il n'ya que la violence pour y repondre. A recommander pour les amateurs de ce genre de western.
