WHAT WOULD I BE LISTENING TO IF NOT ONE OF MY FAVORITE CROONERS
This is not just a statement for a title. What would I be listening to? Maybe some Rock n' Roll, Rhythm and Blues, Jazz, New Age, Classical, Soul, Easy Listening or something else?!It happened one day while I was sitting at my desk, at work. This wonderful song came on. "More". When I found out it was "ANDY WILLIAMS" I found myself listening for more of his songs. Over a period of time I remember hearing: "MOON RIVER", "THE HAWAIIAN WEDDING SONG", "CAN'T GET USED TO LOSING YOU", "DAYS OF WINE AND ROSES", AND "MORE" which is my favorite. I first remember "Andy Williams" when I was about twenty-one. Andy Williams had long since left the television airwaves, though he was still recording records. I had seen him, I think in a magazine, with some children around him. I'm not sure at that point if I had heard any of his music. The article was interesting, though. The 1980's was a rather interesting decade for me as far as music went. I was discovering all the old songs and all the old artists. All of a sudden radio stations were popping up everywhere, playing all the old stuff from the late 50's into the early 70's.All of a sudden I was a fan of : "Andy Williams", "Jack Jones", "Frank Sinatra", "Tony Bennett", "Dean Martin" and "Howard Keel". I was combing the music stores, digging up all the albums I could afford. I couldn't get through my day without listening to "Andy Williams". He was like an addiction. If I tried listening to someone else, I would start going through withdrawals, singing all through the house and humming at work. The tape had to break before I could get passed him and try to listen to someone else. Of course over the years I have listened to plenty of artists, from several categories, but I always come back to my favorites. I thought I owned this copy of "Andy Williams" songs before. If I did, I couldn't find it.When "Andy Williams" passed away, I went through everyplace in my house where there was any music, including some boxes where I had packed some selections away. I could not find anything by "Andy Williams". I was devastated, knowing at the time I could not buy a thing. When things got better I didn't forget one of my favorite crooners. I plan to buy more stuff that he recorded too. This album is a good start if you haven't any of his selections or if you are on a budget. You get sixteen songs, all of which are/were requested quite a bit. I am happy that this selection also has liner notes, Boy, do I enjoy liner notes. In the liner notes one of the things it states is that "Andy Williams" was in a Donald O'Connor movie. WRONG! "ANDY WILLIAMS AND HIS BROTHERS" HAD A SINGING PART IN THE MOVIE: "SOMETHING IN THE WIND" WHICH STARRED "DEANNA DURBIN" AND "DONALD O'CONNOR" WAS MORE LIKE HER CO-STAR. By the way, to this day I still can't figure out which one is "Andy". He must have been around twenty years old in this film, give or take a year or two. This album has quite a bit of songs that has been covered over and over by every old crooner that was around, But I can never seem to get tired of listening to "Andy Williams" versions. Before I know it, I'll have an entire "Andy Williams" Musical Library again. This is one of the better greater hits albums, though like all greatest hits albums some of them have some of the same songs. So check the hits list before you buy. Then cook the dinner, light the candles, turn down the lights and enjoy.

I have it playing as I write this.
His selection of songs is good and the quality of the recording is quite good, That is, if you are old enough to appreciate the music of the time (which I am and I do).
