Great for security appliance use
I decided to finally implement OPNsense for my home network and decided to try this barebones computer. I was a little hesitant sure to not knowing exactly which CPU shipped with it (N6000) but definitely more than enough to run all the services I want for OPNsense. The 2.5GbE ports do reach their full potential and for a small network of about 30 devices, this was a great choice. 3 months now and not a single issue. As others have mentioned the heat spreader does get a bit warm at times but no more than other network appliances. If it’s a concern then a simple $5 usb powered fan will help.

Worked As Described, Then Better
edit 10/21/2023I replaced my WAN cable. pfSense became erratic at 100Mb to 1Gb as the WAN port capacity. Eventually it settled at 100Mb actual input speed. The internet suggested I replace my network WAN cable. After replacing the WAN cable, pfSense says the port went to 2.5Gb capacity from my DOCSIS 3.1 modem. I have 1Gb coming in, but the port could now go well past that if needed.Nice PC.---- original review ---------------------------------------So far, this device works exactly as described.I purchased the empty box and added 8GB of RAM and a 128GB 2.5 SSD I had lying around. No issues. The missing instructions:FYI, the bottom 4 screws remove an access plate. The SSD is not screwed in, but it's a small space and it does not rattle around. The DEL key while booting accesses the AMI BIOS. A pfSense CE 2.7 memstick (built by Rufus) booted and installed without incident although I had to rearrange the boot order for the memstick to go 1st. I noticed a few new scratches on my work desk so use a pad. The device runs cool.pfSense 2.7 CE is said to support the i-226 network ports. No issues so far.I still have some configurations to complete. pfBlockerNG and Wireguard are at the top of the list. I am expecting no issues but will report them here if any are encountered.

Makes a good, efficient little firewall box...
I ordered this to support multiple WAN connections using Openwrt. It actually went much smoother than expected. This little box took two DDR4 DIMMs and it can accept an NVME.2280 driver as well as a 2.5in HDD. I am running it with 16GB DRAM and a 256GB SATA SSD. There are many options in the BIOS, but it was less trouble to configure than other mini-pcs that I own. I really appreciate the silent design and the two CPUs are more than powerful enough to support my two 512Mbps connections with traffic shaping and firewall configurations.I am happy with this little cool running box that draws less than 10watts. I am rating it four stars. As always, your mileage may vary...

Could be improved
There are no M.2 slots on this particular unit (RS03K).There are 3 mPCIe slots. One SATA only for an SSD, one for a small card that exposes PCIe, and one larger USB only. You can get a mPCIe to m.2 adapter to utilize newer m.2 PCIe SSDs, as shown in my picture. There are no SATA ports (aside from the aforementioned mPCIe slot), nowhere to mount one, and no way to power a drive. So you'll need to go the m.2 or mPCIe SSD route. There are 2 USB2.0 headers, no headers for 3.0, though the ports on the front seem to be 3.0 (correct # of pads, but untested).Opnsense installed without issue and booted quickly off SSD.Home assistant booted as well, but I had to add a console in the /boot/cmdline.txt for the console to show up on the front console port. There's a SIM card slot that I'm going to test with an LTE module, hopefully that works well.If I were to make any changes, I'd add rear USB as an option, bring the HDMI out (there's a header for it), and swap out the mPCIe slots for m.2 drives and accessories.

Did not last a year...
Bought in August of 2023, and it died at the end of July 2024. Was using as an firewall for my home network. It likely has been powered on for that 11 months, but a near always uptime for this stuff should be expected. I decided to rearrange and organize my networking shelf, so I shut off and unplugged everything. Upon re-hooking up, the thing doesn't power on any more. Doesn't even try. The power brick has a blue light on it, which indicates to some extent it should be operable. The mini pc itself is completely dead, no lights, nothing. Such a big let down for a barebones device that cost just under $200 to last less than a year. I have reached out to HUNSN support to see what kind of warranty support is available, so we will see.

Works well
I am running pfSense on it with zero problems. I added RAM and an NVMe drive. It was easy to setup and install pfSense... I assume the same is true for other OSs. It doesn't seem to affect anything, but it does get hot. Like I said... no issues with the tmeperature... it's just hot.

Make a great pfSense machine
Had an old UniFi USG for years that just couldn't keep up with the times. Finally decided to go with pfSense and needed something to put it on. Did a lot of looking around and found this device and have been very happy. I wanted something fanless, with multiple intel 2.5 GbE ports and this fits the bill nicely. It's not a super high end machine but that's not what I was looking for. Have been running pfSense CE for a little over a month now and couldn't be happier.
