can someone please tell me in simple words how I put the heater on the stand, sorry I'm not technically minded

Put plug and powee cord through the centre of base. Line up the gap for the cord and push into place on bottom of heater. Screw in the two thumb screws.

Sadly, I have now had 4 of these heaters. 2 of them stopped working within 2 months. 1 was a replacement. The other 2 are now down to 1 element only and I expect that they will also expire before too long. Good while they work, but.............

Does this item use a lot of electricity.. I have a small blow heater and it eats my electric

No it doesn't use much electricity, as they are halogen light bulbs that give out the heat. I bought it for my daughter as her electricity bill was so high with her oil heater she had. And she likes it on one bar and it lights up the room as well

Is it safe to use in a bedroom with carpet or should it only be used on solid floor?

I use it on a carpet. Theese are cheaper to run than your gas central heating system.
