A Blade That Never Disappoints
I purchased this knife to replace a Shrade magic-assist blade that I had purchased several years ago. WOW! I was impressed with this Smith & Wesson's folding knife. It is the perfect all-round utility knife that I use on everything from breaking down boxes to cutting through zip ties and more! The value I have received from this durable, well-built knife exceeded my expectations. The feel of this knife is far more natural and friendly to my palm than the Schrade I used before. The lock is far superior, too, ensuring it never comes undone in my pocket. Finally, the size of this knife was even larger than I imagined meaning I can use it for even more applications - including the serrated cutting edge for appropriate uses like on cutting dowls when necessary. Definitely worth the money I spent!

10/10 would recommend
I purchased this knife because I used my roommate's S&W Black Ops Knife and absolutely loved it. Our relationship initially started out a bit rocky (I accidentally cut him off in traffic before I moved in) but now we're knife brothers and couldn't be happier. We even occasionally touch the tips of our knifes together making reference to the movie "Your Highness". Overall this is a great knife, the spring assist open is perfect for one handed knifing. I find myself constantly playing with it because of how awesome it looks, sounds, and feels. It's like an adult fidget spinner! Build quality is solid, it's been dropped a few times and still looks new. Fresh out of the box its sharp as cat claws, and it's definitely one of the sharper knives I've owned. Oh, and the safety is pretty sweet if you're carrying in your pocket and don't want to get pocket knifed.

Beats Expensive Competitors
I tested 3 knives of the same configuration. This one at about $30, The Anvil Bullshark at about $40 and the Benchmade Barrage at about $130. All had serrated blades with lengths and shapes that were nearly identical. The use of this knife is for emergency rope cutting on a boat so it is similar to self defense - it needs to be fast and safe to open and needs to get the job done quickly. The S&W was the fastest and safest to open in that the one hand actuator is on top of the knife keeping your fingers from harms way. The Benchmade is effective but the actuator is on the blade making me wonder how I have opened it so many times w/o cutting myself. The Anvil required by far the most force and finesse to open with one hand. All three open fine with a conventional two hand approach but again, the S&W was the best. Only the S&W has a safety which is very nice but with the safety off, it did not seem any less safe than the other two. The S&W as also the lightest of the three followed by the Benchmade with the Anvil significantly heavier. I view this as a benefit in that the S&W still felt beefy and firm in the hand. Interestingly the Benchmade blade is the thinnest followed by the S&W followed by the Anvil. The S&W weight advantage (if you like light) appears to be from using a thinner metal in the handle piece. The handles appeared to be equally comfortable for longer term work with the S&W having a more textured feel. They all came sharp but the Benchmade was noticeably the sharpest followed by the Anvil followed by S&W. I don't tend to rate this as that important unless you are attacked as you open the box in that you can tune any of these up. For cutting rope, the Anvil has the most aggressive serration followed by S&W which was followed by Benchmade. They all had blade locks with the Benchmade trademark top of blade lock the best. The S&W and Anvil had conventional bottom of blade locks, however, the Anvil blade lock would not hold the blade open against pressure while the other two wouldn't budge. I view this as a No Go defect. Even assuming that the Anvil defect was a one off, to me the quick and safe opening of the S&W coupled with its much lower weight w/o apparent compromise made this my choice even if it wasn't also the least expensive.

Good knife, a tad heavy, but recommended anyway
The knife is very nice, it opens VERY fast, it's razor sharp and the blade is a nice, thickness. It is a bit heavier than your average pocket knife, but the weight is a good heft for a knife. The clip is VERY tight to the handle making clipping and unclipping from a jeans pocket almost a 2-hand operation - clipping this to a good leather belt (belt-clip) would probably be near impossible. The black finish on the blade is not overly durable - I occasionally use the closed knife to open beer bottles and even this low impact operation has removed some of the black finish. It looks great, seems durably made of quality materials. Bottom line, good knife, good quality, durable materials, only cons are the belt-clip and the easily chipped finish of the blade.

Its been a great work knife!
I've been using this knife daily for the past two years. I am a truck driver and use it to cut shrink wrap, plastic banding, as a screw driver, hammer, etc. It gets abused and is still rock solid. The safety switch is plastic and I have not had any issues with it. It is a hefty reliable and good looking knife. It is painted so the blade will scratch though to the bare metal with use and the handle paint will wear through as well. The handle actually looks quite nice even with the wear. It fits in my pocket clipped and while it is a little thick, it isn't too thick as to bulge out and catch on things as you move around. The clip is very strong and doesn't allow the knife to get pulled loose by your seat belt or if you brush up against things. The clip hasn't lost its tension after two years of daily use as well. It is built with an open back bone on the handle so dirt and debris can pass though and not build up inside it. Truly a great knife. I have given a few away as gifts and the recipient always loves it.

My favorite tool
I was so happy to find this knife after losing it the first time some time ago, though the spring assist gave out after 4 years of continuous use. Which I don't blame the quality at all for that. But now I have it again and I am truly grateful, the spring assists is very crisp and intimidating, and the overall quality Is fantastic, just as I remembered it! Highly recommend it for self-defense or just everyday general use!
