Worth getting in 2021?

I have had mine a while, it is lightning and a very fast network card. Not sure how it compares to new models? but 10Gbe is 10Gbe.

Is this the more up to date/current version of the asus rog areios? they seem very pricey compares to this and essentially the same product.

This is not the ASUS Areios (not even sure if it is available in the UK). Various reviews around the net state that they are both internally the same product with no difference in performance. There are several youtube video reviews.

Can i use the asus xg-c100c in a pcie2.0 slot?

On the box it says that it supports PCI Express 3.0/2.1/2.0 x4 i.e. it needs PCI Express x4 slot or if you have spare x16 slot.

I cant connect to 10gbs. when i try to connect the link speed to 10gbs it doesnt work. it works when i set to auto negotiation or 1gbs. i have fibr

This card adapts to the fastest speed of what you connect it to. Most Ethernet hubs these days are 1gbs so that's what you will see. If you connect it to a 100mbs that's what it will do. If you have a 10gbs hub then it will do that but these are very special. If you want to use the speed of this I suggest you buy a 2nd one and plug that in the computer you are trying to connect to. Remember to run the cable directly between them. You will need to set IP addresses manually.
