Nanoleaf is the OG of the lights game and nothing I have ever bought from them has failed me, as long as you read the instructions and do it correctly. The image is of this product plus one 3-lightbar expansion pack, following one of the recommended designs... and it looks extremely cool. The app is intuitive and functional, the lights themselves are easy to install (way easier than the hex lights (of which I have 25 & 7) to install and add on to), and the possibilities seem endless. My favorite function is the "make your own scene," where you can customize your own color schemes, music receptiveness, and flows/movements of color! I should mention that the pairing can be pretty glitchy, but once the lights are paired, there are no more issues. With all of the lights I've had over the years, there has always been some sort of connection issue that required troubleshooting, but nothing someone that is moderately determined can't push through. GET THE LIGHTS if you can, they completely redesign a whole room and are the coolest thing to happen to modern lighting!!

The idea behind Nanoleaf products is good, the quality is bad. The App is worse than bad - it has removed my customizations four times, forcing me to re-add them. The "Lines" product has failed after less than 2 years, taking the thread network with it. Even their website is horrible, one page says 43 of 395 found it helpful. So the bottom line is if YOU can't fix it - it won't be fixed. Save yourself the trouble.

very vibrant colors

These lines are my favorite piece of decor in my house. But you should know a few things before you buy in! Pros: Bright and diffuse light, sufficient to light a whole small room in any color. Physical switch on the installation allows fast and easy control - turn off/on, adjust brightness, change scenes, and even turn the music sync on/off. Enough lines and anchors to build a decently sized installation. Long enough power cord to hide it effectively. The app allows you to set up and configure the layout, so if you choose colored light scenes they make *sense* on the shape you installed. Once scenes are downloaded to the device, the smart switch lets you toggle between them. The wall anchor plates allow the device to be installed securely and give me confidence that I'll be able to take this piece down, move, and reinstall it in another apartment if necessary. The Nanoleaf app is brilliant in some ways and terrible in others. It has a ton of variety for designing the color treatment of the lines, and it takes in to account the size and layout of the installation when you do. It also has a lot of pleasing pre-made scenes to choose from. The lines at least respond to the app fairly quickly. However, there are a limited number of scenes you can add to this device, so if you change them often be mindful. The snap-in method is fast and clever. However, it has some necessary wriggle room. Be mindful with installing your device to not let the joints sag, or your installation will not have straight lines. Cons: Having this device DOES NOT enable advanced usage of Nanoleaf Essentials devices. This device is a thread border router, and though this device can be scheduled and responds to the nanoleaf desktop app, it does not make it so that other items in the nanoleaf family can as well. This is not clearly stated in their documents. The desktop app rarely works for me, so "screen matching" is unavailable to me. The anchor plates can be attached to a wall with appropriate anchors. The plate does not accept a flat-headed screw, but there is too little headroom (between the plate and the interior circuit board of the anchor) to admit 2 button-headed screws. You must either only use one and position it carefully within the anchor, or use very small screws. reason for the bad adhesion rating: I was unable to stick the device to the wall using adhesive alone. I installed the device on a clean, dry interior wall after spot-cleaning each installation point very gently with a mild detergent. After a few weeks, most of the adhesive had come untacked from the wall. I wound up using drywall anchors for 3 of the 8 anchors to support the primary weight of the installation, and 3M command strips for the rest. Though I was able to install a pleasing geometric shape in the end, it took a lot of careful planning, measuring, checking, and rechecking before installing drywall anchors. If you go this route, be prepared for a lot of math.

Light functionality: Projects the light to the wall not to you

So I bought these a while ago and I absolutely love them. However after a month or two I noticed the light began having issues to connect and then like two weeks after that they just stopped working, I buy Nanoleaf a lot and I seem to have these problems so it makes me wonder if it’s a manufactured defect on their products and not to mention I currently am using their essential light bulb and I am having hardcore issues with the app connecting to my HomeKit for some reason. I also experienced that with these lines as well as time went on. The other thing that no matter how much I love this company I think if your worried about the double stick tape, you might wanna buy an extra strength wall double sided tape to go along side the original because it was very weak, however, when I put gorilla double sided black tape as well as the water leak double sided tape tape, it actually ended up damaging my walls which that’s my fault because otherwise the lines kept falling off my walls , my boy friends walls, and my mothers walls . Idk if anyone has any other suggestion on how to keep these lines up but I’ll try anything on my next set of lines I buy because these ones just stopped working for no reason what so ever.
