Phonics Bug is a pretty special Phonics programme that gives children a firm, fun foundation in phonics. It uses research-based teaching methods so it's proven to work, and it joins 100% decodable books with CBeebies videos and an online reading world, so it's the ideal way to get today's little readers started on their journey to reading success. Phonics Bug books are ideal for use at home too, and are a great way to help your child take their first steps towards 'cracking the code' which will enable them to learn to read and spell. Helpful notes on the inside front cover of each book highlight tricky words and give you ideas for before and during reading, and the inside back covers include ideas for delving deeper after reading to check understanding. Phonics Bug Pack 1 is ideal for your encouraging your Foundation Stage early readers. It contains 4 Phase 2 fiction books โ Tim's Din; Sid's Nits; Dig, Sid, Dig; and Kit's Kip โ which are perfect for reading before stepping across to the Bug Club Pink Level Pack. Tim's Din: Dad is sleeping, but Tim is tapping a tin, until Dad shouts at him to stop. Dad and Tim take a nap, but then Sam starts tapping the tinโฆ Sid's Nits: Sid, Sam and Nan all have nits. When a nit bites Nan, she and her frying pan get the better of it. Dig, Sid, Dig: Nanis working hard in the garden, while Sid relaxes in a hammock. But when Nan discovers a buried tin, Sid decides he is interested after allโฆ Kit's Kip: Kit tries to take a nap in Danโs cot, but Pad alerts Sid and Nan, who chase him away!

I can read
These books are just what I was looking for. The illustrations are bright, colourful and keep a child engaged. The books introduce new words for child to learn slowly which helps to build the child's confidence. It is wonderful to hear my Grandson sounding out the letters and putting the sounds together and saying the word. The look on his face when he realises that he can read is priceless. He now reads stories to his toys and plays 'schools'.

A great starter set for first phonic practice
My wee girl loved these when make the initial steps into reading and her confidence was bolstered by he accessibility of the( โin sequenceโ) language as it uses simple unambiguous CVC words that she could sound out and blend independently. They filled her with a sense of self belief and she has subsequently moved to reading other books.

Great for first readers
Bought these books for my 4 year old who has just started reception. Theyโre pitched exactly right for him. Every word is a CVC word (some CVCC like โsickโ or โtallโ) so he can read the entire book himself. Inside the cover also gives the parent helpful tips on how to encourage engagement with the story and further progress. The stories are very simple but they do have a story arc (some previous books we tried were not as good for this) and the pictures are fun.

Great first readers
Lovely short books for when your child first starts reading. Funny stories, which my daughter liked & great illustrations. Clearly show the sounds you are learning/practicing & highlight tricky words. Very good.

first reading book
Very well thought out series of books perfect for first time reading. Good parent tips before and after each story. My 6 year old was reluctant but with lots of encouragement and short 10 mins sessions she actually admitted she enjoyed it.

Excellent phonics books
My son is currently doing phonics at school and they use the phonics bug books there so I got these for some home practise. There's four stories here and offer really good variations. Very pleased.

Great books!!
A great set of books to help your child learn to read. They need to be used in conjunction with letter sound cards like Phonic Flashcards by Read Write Inc. The letter sounds, key words and questions/advice on the inside cover are very helpful.

Not bad
Not impressed, my DS is not very interested with the stories, although he absolutely loves stories.
