Finally, a decent new media box....
I have owned any number of media streaming devices, due to owning almost 40TB of media on my home server. Some play fine, while the menu system is unusable. Others have good menus and presentation, but can’t properly connect to shared media drives, or can’t play all audio/video formats. This unit has all the current formats, a beautiful menu system, and responsive support that genuinely appear eager to grow the platform. This is the only media box in the past 5 years that I am happy enough to write a review for. The last was a Mede8er unit, and prior to that a Dune box I finally gave up on. This beats them all - and also beats Nvidia Shield TV Pro, Kodi on anything, all of the smart TV apps I’ve tried, WDTV, and Roku. Don’t bother with any of them - buy the cheapest Zappitii that works for you.

GREAT Media Player AND Network Storage
This is my new favorite home media player, well above my versatile-but-aging Popcorn Hour C-200 and WD Live TV. I wanted a replacement that plays a similar range of formats including DVD-ISO, and could also serve as a high-capacity drive enclosure for at least 6TB. The KD Links HD720 was the first candidate I tried, but no luck with a WD Green 6TB or WD Blue 6TB, both with single GPT partitions formatted as NTFS. The same WD Blue 6TB worked flawlessly with Zappiti, I was watching movies from the drive within minutes. After configuring SMB and setting a static IP address, the Zappiti One 4K now shares the drive with other devices/media players on my network (navigation within data entry forms needs some improvement). It has great responsiveness, plenty of processor muscle. Right now I have the Zappiti playing a movie, while a Popcorn Hour C-200 plays a second movie using the Zappiti as a network drive, without any visible performance issues. The remote control has a lot of functionality, including buttons I always want: Subtitles, Aspect Ratio, and Repeat. On my older, slower media players, I never bothered with media library front-ends, but I will with Zappiti's better speed and interface. This is a solid product, one I'd definitely buy again and highly recommend.

Amazing Playback - And Few Annoyances
I've had a Dune and then a Dune Solo. They have always been reliable but the color problems with the Dune Solo and the lack of HDR support made me look elsewhere. Zappiti always supported Dune with their video manager/Jukebox application but graduated to creating their own hardware which has always gotten pretty good reviews. Note that both Dune and Zappiti are both based in France. Their latest models are 4K HDR players and their playback is a wonderful thing. With caveats.Pros: The Blu-ray and UHD playback are beautiful. I have several NAS boxes and connect with a gigabit hardwire connection and with the exception of 3D ISO's (see below) everything has played back without a glitch. The color and detail and gamma curves have been as good as I get with my Sony UHD-BD player. I can't imagine a better playback of movies and HD sound. All HD audio formats are supported. 3D movies have never looked better. 3D depth etc. are fantastic and color/brightness are as good as they have ever looked from any source. However, again see below for the issues. The back-lit remote is pretty complete with most functions available. Chapter stops are supported but you can also hit the numeric key pad to go to a point in the film (by hitting the 5 on the remote it will jump the 50% point in the film). The Zappiti interface is easy to use and fairly accurate in identifying movies and TV shows with an ability to modify or correct any misidentified items. The only trouble I have is with the time it takes to scan my entire system (about 15-20 Min). This might be peculiar to my system so your times may vary.Like most current players the Zappiti plays BD-Lite which means you won't get full BD menus. They take some of the sting out of this by connecting to a large database of supplemental material for each title including subtitles that may be missing for a given language. Their website still says they will support full menus but that check's still in the mail.Their customer support is also in France and have been fairly responsive so far. They also have a helpful and easy to use Knowledge Base on their website. They are regularly updating the software with enhancements and fixes so things can improve somewhere down the road.Price: This is really a bargain for the quality of the playback.Cons:These are my major annoyances/problems on an otherwise wonderful player. Some are common on other players and they may not be a factor in your decision making.3D issues: UHD etc play great from my NAS's but all my 3D ISO's freeze frequently. My fix was to place all my 3D ISO's on an external USB My Book directly connected to the Zappiti 4K HDR. They now play without this problem. Customer support suggests it might be my network but no other formats, including UHD ISO's, have this problem. The other 3D issue is about a third of my 3D iso's require me to exchange eyeview so the 3D is synced correctly. I have never had a problem playing the titles on a Dune or my BD player so this is a mystery which Customer Support had no fix for other than to stop the movie, toggle the eyeview setting then restart the movie. Kind of a pain but the 3D result is almost worth the hassle. BD-Lite/Branching: With BD-Lite which means you won't get full BD menus. The playback will always pick the longest/largest playlist to playback. Branching title all skip about half a second on each branch including on UHD's. This is very annoying. According to CS the fix is to convert that title to an MKV and that can be a bit of a hassle (MAKEMKV is free for the first month). Not elegant fix but it does work.Forced Subtitles: There are many movies (Mostly UHD's) that have forced subtitles that will not display. During some scenes where someone is speaking another language subtitles usually automatically display but not always here. You’ll have to manually toggle the subtitles for this sequence and can be a pain. If you leave it on you will end up with all dialogue subtitled. I've heard a fix is in the works but we'll see...Lame Control-4 Driver: I have a Control 4 system and the dealer has installed the one posted driver however there's no numeric pad or stop codes using that driver. They are not needed that often since the Cancel key works as the Zappiti BACK key and is basically the same as a STOP key but I keep hitting the STOP key out of habit. Again, CS says a new improved driver is in the works...

Big movie/ Big budget feel; fraction of the cost.
The media could not be loaded. First thing you will notice about Zappiti is its durable metal body. It's a satin finish with a smooth surface. The Zappiti also has 3.0 and 2.0 usb slots so you can hook up external hard drives too.It housed a sata 3.5 hhd bay so you can install you hard drive(you must format your own hard drive; it does not do it for you). Once installed it pretty much is a drag and drop from your computer network to the drive (similar to a NAS).It is a little difficult to download the initial firmware(at first); because I'm used to working with Nvidia Shield, but once I got over that learning curve it was a breeze from there. You'll have to go into the settings and download its app zappiti (work around); and install the firmware fromthere. To store your "ripped" movies all you have to do is create a folder and name it "movies"; and zappiti will find which hard drive the file is located on, and down upload it to their servers. Then select the format and picture art for you.It does support many formats and Dolby Atmos as well. To me the device is worth the price and gives you a big movie feel at home.Personally I prefer this device over PLEX because the learning curve is so minimal to get started.Lastly it does have an apps store (Goggle Play) so you can load it up with your favorite apps as well. ~Cole

Very good picture quality, few bugs and above average customer services
In the last year, I’v try many different media player box and found one thing: No box are perfect! There are always some bugs or other thing to complain about. The Zappiti 4K HDR, alought not perfect, is simply the box that give me the best experience. The image quality with blu ray and 4k playback beat my Oppo player. Also, the jukebox interface is by far the best on the market. Last but not least, the compagny offer a real english/french user support. If you have any problem they will help you. I send couples of request when first setting up the unit and they response fast and right to the point. Highly recommanded

Hardware bueno, software mejorable.

Absolute Kaufempfehlung.

Expensive but worth it
I was sceptical about purchasing this media player due to price difference from regular players. I have replaced a mede8er800 as I know need to something that handles uhd. One of the main reasons is that it outputs TrueHD ,Dolby Atmos and DTSX from uhd MKV files which many other players struggle with as it can’t be transferred through external usb drives. As this has internal drive capability then I thought this should do the trick but again wasn’t sure if it would work. It does work and sounds fantastic, picture quality is great too. The setup was ok, not completely straight forward but not rocket science either. The movie wall is great and once your films have been scanned works very well. You can access trailers and it automatically collates series of films for you. Also identifies different video quality, 4k, 3d, HD and SD.Although expensive I would thoroughly recommend if you want a serious player. I haven’t experienced any glitches so far. Very happy with it.
