What grits are these equivalent to? I am after 1000, 4000, 6000

My understanding is XXC(extra extra coarse) 120. XC 220, C 335, F 600, XF 1200 and XXF 8000. I use up to the extra fine then move up to some fine water stones finishing on gold stone 8000 grit for mirror finish. Not got the diamond extra extra fine yet but if as good as the rest of the diamond stones will stop me having to keep flattening the water stones. Shame not a stone between extra fine and extra extra fine. I have been happy hope this helps

Hi, how long will these diamond plates last?

They did last as long as I expected, loosing about 50% of their abrasive properties after sharpening two planes and about 10 chisels

what is the grit count?

I do not know directly but I think if you go to the DMT website the answer is there somewhere. If not try a Google search with your question.

is the medium extra fine a one side or two sided plate and is it medium grit

It's One-sided. Also, it's 4000 grit, it's second from the highest grit stone they have, out of a range of about 6. It's for taking VERY little material off. It + 8000 Extra Extra fine are like the last two stones you finish on.
