The Hitman's Bodyguard [Blu-ray + DVD]

The Hitman’s Bodyguard is a wildly entertaining mix of action and comedy, with Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson delivering nonstop laughs and chaos. Their chemistry is perfect — every scene feels sharp, funny, and fast-paced. The action sequences are well-shot and exciting without taking themselves too seriously. The Blu-ray quality is excellent, with clear visuals and great sound that really brings the movie’s energy to life. If you enjoy buddy comedies with over-the-top action and great banter, this one’s a must-have for your collection.

A really great mismatched duo often results in something you'll long remember, and this is one of those pairings. Ryan Reynolds does a fantastic job of remaining straight-faced and all-too-serious about his "Triple A rating" as a bodyguard, which has recently been flummoxed by the gritty 'no-holds-barred in-your-face' character played superbly by Samuel L Jackson who Reynolds has been saddled with safely delivering to a 'world court' as the star witness who can testify against the evil leader of a nearby country, skillfully brought to life by Gary Oldman ; I can only imagine they likely shot twice the footage to come up with the final film because of all the times one of the pair had to have lost composure and burst out laughing at themselves. It's fast, it's funny, and it's action-packed, and all following a pretty solidly set storyline from start to finish. Throw in the sideline of Jackson's gorgeous but equally (if not moreso) dangerous and skewed love interest, the very talented Salma Hayek, currently under lock and key herself but still controlling everything and everyone around her, and the hilarity intensifies off the chart. The number one lesson you'll learn while making the trip with these two: never, ever forget about the seat belt rule! Oww, that looks truly painful (But you're going to roll on the floor laughing anyway!).

I know there's a lot of people saying this movie is dumb and not that funny, or the jokes between Reynolds and Jackson get old, but I don't think so. I thought this movie had the perfect amount of action, comedy, and a little bit of a love story. I thought the chemistry between Reynolds and Jackson was absolutely perfect! The people who don't like this movie are the ones who can't stand a good mindless, action, comedy. Will it win any awards? No! Is this a fun movie to kick back and relax to and not have to think really hard about what's going on? Yes! I would suggest this movie to anybody who likes a good mindless, action, comedy and don't suggest this to anyone who is just the opposite. I had to give this movie 5 stars because it really is that good! I don't think i will ever get tired of Ryan Reynolds jokes and one liners. He might sound like a broken record at times from one movie to another, but I think he's hilarious! Whether you buy or rent this, I promise you will love it!

Funny.

If you know Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L Jackson, then you know what this movie is going to be (snarky, bloody, SLJ's favorite phrase said frequently, full of action) and it will not disappoint you. If you're looking for thick plot, you're in the wrong room. If you object to foul language, you're in the wrong room. If you want to be thoroughly entertained for a while and don't mind some a barrage of f-bombs and some bloody action, you've come to the right place. I'm not generally a big fan of violent movies but this one didn't hit my violence-nerve the way many do. This was more like Kill Bill, which was ferociously bloody but somehow didn't feel that way because it was kind of cartoony. This movie isn't at all cartoony in that visual sense but it definitely does not take itself seriously and that's what took the edge off the bloodshed for me. I was fully entertained and was generally delighted by Reynolds' signature snark. The chemistry between his character and Jackson's was delightful. Another reviewer said the foul language from Salma Hayek's character seemed unnatural and I agree, though it wasn't a deal-breaker for me. Overall, this movie was exactly what I expected it to be based on the title, blurb, and cast and it kept me entertained from start to finish. What more could I ask?

I really enjoyed the frenzied action, and kinetic energy of this movie. I guess the production company's idea, was to keep their audience a wake, and dazzled by all of the action scenes. The script while using words and terms, that some people would find highly objectionable. Was amusing, and for once, very adult, and reflects the way a lot of people talk. Especially in stressful situations. It was fun seeing Samuel L. Jackson, doing his over the top acting. Salma Hayek was also a fun addition to the cast. I'm not really a Ryan Reynolds fan, but he was okay in the role he played. So we are given an action movie, with a good deal of comedy mixed in.

Very exciting and funny in places 😄

If you want a humourous action, "buddy" movie where the two main characters hate each other, you've found it. Yes, the action is completely over the top and unbelievable, but it is suprisingly well done. The movie's rating is mainly for Samuel L Jacksons language (but there is some strong violence too) - if you can't handle regular repetition of the term that Samuel L Jackson is known for, then this isn't for you. Suprise cameo is Salma Hayek's tough character, which ties together the movie, and makes Samel L Jacksons hitman more human.

Hilarious!! Samuel L. Jackson and Ryan Reynolds are TOO funny!! The action is crazy! Thoroughly enjoyed and would definitely recommend.
