Lightweight, but powerful. Excellent saw for homeowner.

This is a standard chainsaw with a standard chain and a standard bar with the assembly working the same as any other chainsaw. It's just electric, and this means it has immediate torque and it is much quieter than a traditional chainsaw. It works very well. Pleased!

The saw itself is quite nice and cuts well. Saw did not come with a chainsaw tool to loosen the bar and adjust chain tension. And additional batteries are stupid expensive. Amazon has them for $235!

I bought this Echo DSC 5000 chain saw on June 26 2026 on Amazon . It arrived several weeks later. The box was banged up. Upon opening it up, there were mouse droppings in the box and the directions were shredded and there were teeth marks on the handle. I notified the seller and they wouldn’t take it back. I felt l was stuck with it. I went to use the saw and it worked good. I went to use it several days later and it didn’t work. The battery was fully charged but the saw didn’t work. I mailed the warranty card in and several days later I was notified that the saw was not under warranty because it was purchased from a third party. I bought this saw for Amazon thinking I was buying from a reputable dealer. I am now out of the money I spent, I now have to buy another one. Do not buy from this dealer like I did you will not be happy.

Battery is capable of cutting at least 1/3 face cord (maple). I stop and recharge when only one light is showing. I Haven’t had to sharpen the chain for six recharge cycles. Nice that you can see the rising bar oil through the tank as it approaches the fill cap.

Was doubtful till I used it, but it does cut a lot better than a corded electric, and good enough I don't have to deal with the gas saw on my few trees now. Nice to just slip in a battery and pull the trigger to cut. Best to drain the chain oil before sitting in the garage or shed, it slowly drains out. Gas saw does that too, though. It's almost as heavy as my gas saw, but I think it's easier to use. I cut a lot of wood with it, but admit it takes a while, you'll charge batteries often trying to cut up 20 or 30 feet of tree over a foot in diameter. Not a problem for an old guy that needs frequent breaks anyway.

The rating is not for the actual chainsaw but for the delivery. The packaging was badly damaged and must have affected the charger, which will not charge the battery. It is being returned, and I’ll buy a one locally. It’s unfortunate as it’s a good price.
