YRD256 Not app based But it was a great Black Friday buy! I would recommend
Con- the model YRD256 isn’t app based. This won’t link up to the Yale app on your phone. It’s a $100 upgrade (AYR202-CBA-KIT), knowing this I would have just bought the Nest+Yale model. -Package didnt come with detailed install instructions, set up guide and key pad menu option. I had to figure it out and look online, to compete the install and the set up. It almost felt like a refurbished unit but everything looked new. -You can’t mix n match colors. My door came with bronze hardware on the outside and silver on the inside. I opted for silver based on the interior look. The outside doesn’t look that bad. -keypad light tends to turn off quickly but this is probably to preserve battery life. Pros: easy install onto my door. - the key pad is a perfect size for the front. - backlit key pad and the black screen is super sleek. - speaker quality is good. - good integration with SmartThings and Alexa app. - good response time when asking alexa to lock or unlock. -good response to asking alexa the status of the lock. -quiet -cool privacy feature, but you have to do this at the unit vs. being able to use the Yale app. - multiple users / access codes - you have options for indicator light, volume, and other settings, configured at the lock. I wonder how long the batteries will last 🤔

So far so good
So far I have really liked this lock and it has functioned flawlessly. I like that it is a one press lock and you don't have to enter the code to lock. The lock moves smoothly with no issues. The zwave functionality has been working well for the most part. It is directly connected to Smartthings with no issues, but I also have it connected to Home Assistant (via ST). Whenever HA restarts it always thinks the lock is unlocked even though it is not. That is not a lock issue, just mentioning for others that may be looking for a HA integration. With that said though, these locks do seem to be overpriced for what they are. A simple combo powered lock runs less than $50 these days, not sure why manufacturers think the zwave connection part is worth another $100.

Good but not perfect.
We moved into a new home and liked the idea of keyless doors. We have the z-wave version. Installation was fairly easy once I got the hang of it. Integration with SmartThings was fast. My biggest complaints: 1. The door locks too easy. We have the problem of the door locking when someone just brushes by the pad, usually with something in their arm, like a baby. 2. The pad shows fingerprints. If you look at the pad at the right angle, you can see which numbers are used the most.

Good lock, works well with Alexa and Ring Alarm
I wanted a lock that specifically worked with my Ring Alarm which is why I chose this model. I wanted to be able to lock the lock which also arms my Ring Alarm at the same time as well as disarm the alarm when I unlock the lock. The only issues I've encountered so far is going to close the door and sometimes my hand will hit the one touch lock button and it would automatically lock my lock (with the door still open) and my alarm would go off, that has been getting some used to being careful on where to grab the door. The other issue is that the touch pad is a little slow to respond so it takes a litter longer to enter the code than my old lock which had the raised buttons. But in all it works perfectly for what we wanted and are happy with it.

Easy to install - terrible battery life.
Update November 29 2023: I have to change the batteries once a month if not sooner. I made sure the lock was not obstructed in any way. I have a different brand lock set on another door and the batteries last a year. The installation was very easy. I only referred to the instruction for the programming part. Programming was easy. Setting up the Z-Wave module was very simple. My problem is with the Ring integration. My current lock codes did not automatically get linked with the lock. I had to change the code for my access as owner, and for the shared user, I was not able to use the code my wife has used for more than a year. I had to give her another code so that it would register in the Yale lock. The Schlage I have installed on another door has no issues with accepting the codes from RING. The reason why I am upgrading is because other Schlage was starting to eat batteries at a rapid rate, and staying linked to RING became problematic. The other issue has nothing to do with Yale... I think. The only thing the RING app allows yo to do is Lock / Unlock. The automatic closing or any other programming must be performed on the lock manually. Homelink has more capability than the lackluster interface RING is using... NO OPTION. Also, the DoorSence module was not part of the kit.

Great Lock!
Bought this to replace our old Kwikset that was going through batteries every 3 months. Have had this one installed for two years and only replaced the batteries once! Easy to install and setup. Love the sleek design and keypad too.

Great lock
We have been using this at our home for years. No more keys. This lock made it easy for us with dog sitters, cleaners or anyone who needed one time access. The lock gives you the ability to set temp codes which has helped us on multiple occasions. The deadbolt moves smooth and does not get hung up. Highly recommend

Great quality smart lock
Bought 2 of these for my smart home system and am very happy with the purchase. Quality of these locks is fantastic. Setup is straightforward if you have basic handyman skills. You need to make sure your deadbolt is properly aligned before buying this! If there is any force required to lock deadbolt, this will not work. This is true of all electronic deadbolts. I integrated these smart locks with my Hubitat system and things are working great. I now can easily tell if the doors are locked remotely, can lock/unlock remotely or with voice commands or automatically when I go to sleep or leave house. Love it.

100 percent ring comparable and Alexa works with voice.
This was such a great deal. I was worried it would be a disaster as it was used but it was in perfect condition. Obviously someone did try to install it. I am missing a small screw but fit 100 bucks off, I’m good. It installed very easily. Yale offers a 3D version of the install in an app. It’s amazingly simple to install. I used this with my ring system. I was a bit nervous so I called customer support, very knowledgeable, very helpful, 40 second wait, my system found it fast and alexia with some preferences allowed on the device is opening and locking my doors on voice command! Very cool, works great! Total install 20 mins. It also arms my system and disarms it if I use my lock code.

A great smart lock
We have this on our front door. It was a bit scary going keyless but after 6 months of use, the lock hasn't failed us yet. It is sleek and stylish. It is also very responsive to touch. This was a replacement for a competitors product and I can enter an 8 digit code on this look in less time than it took to enter a 4 digit code on the other. I also love the capability to integrate with home automation systems.
