Good charger for the purpose of charging your car
the factory charger stopped working, this is a good replacement, does both high voltage 220 and low or regular vlotage 110 , I like the controls , they work good, it charges well, we have a 2019 Volt, when we go away for a couple months I leave it pluged in the charger has a battery maintainer mode , so it does not over charge the battery, read your battery maintenance book, do not leave your battery with a low or zero charge for long periods will damage the lithium battery, so just plug it in on low voltage 110 regular house current,USA, at this voltage charges at 7-8 amps perfect. it will recharge the Volt battery to full from empty in about 8 hours or over night.

EV101 Portable EV Charger Level 1+2
This is a great EV charger, nice features like adjustable amperage settings, which allows to adapt the charging speed based on the user needs and available power supply. The charger's compatibility with a wide range of voltage inputs (110V-240V) makes it versatile, especially when during traveling and have access to different types of outlets. The 20ft cable length is convenient and gives me the flexibility to park my car at a reasonable distance from the power source. However, I deducted a couple of points from my rating because I found the build quality to be decent but not exceptional. It's sturdy enough for regular use, and seems durable. Also, comes with a storage bag or case, which is a nice addition. Overall, it does the job efficiently, offers flexibility, very portable, great build quality and accessories.

8 months and broke
Worked well while it worked. 8 months later no screen nothing on the display. There is a faint humming from inside the unit. Tried dedicated 30A and 110v household no luck. It was good while it lasted.

Surprisingly Impressive - Get a 50A Adapter Also
UPDATE: I purchased separately, a NEMA 14-50P to 6-20R. Problem was I rolled up to a charge location which was just a 240v receptacle at a hotel. The receptacle was the NEMA 14-50, like a dryer plug. The 20A plug on this charger is obviously not compatible, so I could not charge the car. Now, with the adapter, not only can I use 120v in a pinch, but also plug into the big receptacles that Tesla portable chargers use. I was specifically looking for a lower powered charger I could use on a 20A circuit. I was installing a dedicated 240 volt line, and did not want to have to deal with the much heavier cable required for 40 or 50 amp chargers. Those higher power level 2 chargers just are not necessary since this 16 amp charger can always charge my car overnight. This particular charger always connects quickly to my EV. As you can see from the photo, I am getting 15 amps into my car at 236 volts. That is more than 3,500 watts. I really like the fact that it is also compatible with 120 volt circuit, although charging at that speed is incredibly slow. It is a good backup charger that fits into my frunk. Zero problems or concerns with this charger. It is exactly what I needed.

Updated - customer service excellent, replaced bad unit with a new model
I've updated this review and changed from 1 star to 5 stars. Customer service was outstanding - they replaced my unit promptly - it was only 6 months into the 18 month warranty. And, the unit I received is clearly updated and now meets the description on this page - the handle is new, and the 'clip' has a larger range of travel (about 5mm vs. 3.5 mm of the original model). The length of the new unit is 21 ft, the original unit is about 5 feet less. So clearly, the manufacturer has done some work. The one downside is that the new carry case is much larger and won't fit in our frunk. But, if I coil the cable carefully, I can get the charger in the old case and that does fit in the frunk, so overall a win. ---------------------------------original review------------- The charging and variable voltage feature of this charger were great. The latch failed after light use, and at a most awkward and critical time. We bought this (3/2023) when we bought our new EV car, and used it at most a dozen times before we had our Lvl2 home charger installed. We kept it though, thinking it would be great to keep w/the car and charge when we were out of town. Which we did this week. Unfortunately, this time, the latch wouldn't unlatch. So we were stuck at an AirBnB, couldn't drive the car because the charger was stuck in the port and it couldn't be started or driven. Went through all the troubleshooting for the car and came up empty. Several folks got into the fun trying to get the handle out, for about 4 hours - push on the latch, wiggle it, pull it, press the latch harder. Not fun a fun morning. We located a service center that would take us in today (fortunately Portland had 5 within 20 miles), then we called a tow truck. They tried all that too, then one of the tow truck drivers got a long screw driver and was able to pry the latch up and off - after about 15 minutes. Which was awesome when considering that, with the plug in place, we couldn't turn the car on to put it in neutral, so there was going to be some funny stuff to get it loaded onto tow truck. We packed up this charger and sent it straight to recycling as after evaluating the latch it wasn't repairable - just a bad design. On the bright side - it wasn't raining, and given that this was a day in November in the PNW, and that it had been raining torrentially for days up to this point, and our car was parked outside in the driveway of our airbnb, it could have been an even more miserable morning.

good response
it worked for about 3 months. Then it died. It says it has a 18 month warranty so they sent me a new one. There were a few difficult steps in getting them the video of the broken one that the seller was requesting, but it all got done eventually. And the one they sent is so far working fine. It's been about a month. So far so good, maybe some quality issues but they sent the new one reasonably quickly so four stars. The price is good so I would probably buy again.

A great off-grid EVSE
I wish this same EVSE came in a 8-30A Lvl1/Lvl2 version, but this unit is quite nice. The contactor inside is a little on the light side, so time will tell on reliability (only thing I'd nitpick). Compared to my other EVSE, an OpenEVSE Lvl2 I assembled, adjustable up to 32A, this guy is less powerful (and provides less information). This EV101 on the other hand looks way more polished, and has the look of a normal EVSE. For a normal home, a fixed current unit would do the job. But as I'm using this at my off-grid property, having the ability to adjust the power output makes it far more versatile. But like the OpenEVSE, I'm sure the price will double in the short term for no good reason, because who knows why. But if you're looking for a lower power adjustable EVSE, at today's price, this is a great unit.

Great adjustable charger
My garage outlet shares the circuit breaker with a freezer. This EV charger allows me to set the maximum current to 10 amps leaving 5 amps for the freezer so both can operate at the same time without tripping the breaker. It works perfectly. It has a nice display with volts, amps and other charge information but once its going its a nice plug it in and forget about it charger. The cables are nice flex well so its easy to connect and disconnect then wrap over the holder for the cable I have. I would recommend this to anyone that needs a simple charger that the amperage is adjustable on.
