JBL Boombox 3 - Portable Bluetooth Speaker - Squad (Renewed)

first off, when i got it in it's original box, it had at least been opened. but when i opened it up, it was still wrapped in the original foam sheet and so was the power cord. both the cord and speaker had that new plastic-like smell like when you just bought a fresh new electronic device. everything was in perfect condition. so thanks guys i saved a little money on a new speaker (around $320 when i purchased this June 21st). now for a product review. i've had this thing about 3 weeks and i'm impressed every time i use it. i mostly use it at work and i work with a small crew of people in a fairly noisy environment. we all love it and it truly cuts through in a loud environment with an impressive range of bass and the boost in the treble region really comes through clear over things like constant electrical hum and various machinery being used. this is a great speaker for anywhere sorta noisy or outdoors. indoor listening in an otherwise quiet environment is good too. my only complaint would be that the boost in that treble region i mentioned feels kind of harsh. if you use the JBL app to turn down the treble 1 notch, it feels like you pulled back the highs a bit too much and still sounds a little harsh. personally i didn't buy this for indoor listening i have a good floor sub and decent speakers. overall i feel this speaker is made to go places or be in a loud warehouse or something like that. even great for a little house party. now for bass. it obviously has areas in the low frequencies where it's more resonant than others but it does get quite low especially for it's size. it gets low enough for basically any music in my opinion. but those super low bass sounds that you can mostly only feel instead of hear from a good sized floor sub, just isn't really there. but of course for the portability and everything it does more than enough. lastly battery life. i'd say if you're playing it around 70-80% you're probably gonna get about 5 hours. 70% is pretty loud and considering the bass this thing pushes, 5 hours is still impressive to me. is it worth it? for me absolutely i love this speaker. i'd recommend if you think you're gonna take it to a noisy environment and actually use it like it was intended.

Loud and easy to use. Bluetooth connection takes like 2 seconds. Its very durable and has been lots of fun to use

This thing sounds amazing. Definitely worth the money. Unfortunately, this is the second one I was ordering and didn't receive it. But that's another story.

Holy moly!!! I have owned many bluetooth speakers. I mean MANY. I spent about a solid month watching EVERY video review of EVERY bluetooth speaker made to date. (3/2/24) I read every Google review I could possibly find. I had to find the absolute best bluetooth speaker under $600. That was my budget. I own very expensive headphones and listened to so many speakers on video reviews that used binaural microphones. I heard the new Harman kardon Go Play 3, the Bang and olufsen beolit 20, the Harman kardon Aurora 3, that weird swedish box one lol, all of the smart home speakers, the jbl authentics 300, absolutely EVERY boombox from all manufacturers, and I finally came to the conclusion that the one that fit my needs perfectly (sound quality, bass, battery life, build quality and price) was the Jbl boombox 3. I went back and forth about the wifi version and the just bluetooth one and decided that although wifi gives better sound quality, I needed the auxiliary 3.5mm input. That is because I own the firefly ldac bluetooth adapter and my phone does ldac so I would get the best bluetooth quality possible, and I own a decent dongle dac and wanted to be able to connect my phone with an otg cable to dac to 3.5mm cable to the auxiliary input and stream my Qobuz through USB Audio Player Pro. Well let me say, with the ldac adapter, this speaker BLOWS my mind in every way shape and form. And with the dac to aux through Qobuz, HOLY LORD IN THE HEAVENS ABOVE. 24 bit 96khz through this speaker has me never wanting to shut it off. Ever. I leave it plugged in most of the time to get the extra power but full blast is waaayyyy too much for my room. Even though at full volume there is zero distortion and insane sound quality. At normal listening levels it is such a pleasure. Beautiful sub bass, mid bass, mids and highs. So with all that said, please do yourself a favor and buy this speaker if it's in your budget. You will not regret it. I can assure you. Oh and no YouTube video does it any justice. You have to listen in person with Quality music through ldac bluetooth with an adapter, or wired with a dongle dac (Dragonfly cobalt) to the aux in with Qobuz or tidal or Amazon HD. I hope this helps. And this is not a paid review. Only my honest opinion.

So I ordered to replace my original JBL Boombox that I've been using for 3 years now. It was a great speaker. This new JBL BB3 blows the original out of the water. It has much better controlled bass through the entire volume dial. It is significantly heavier coming in just under 15lbs, vs the original at just under 12lbs. The build quality is better as a result. The power cord is improved as well by getting rid of the large power inverter box and just having a plain cord. Aesthetically it is nicer and not as nice... I think the exclamation points on the ends are a little gimmicky. I also wish the little vertical light on the front that shows charging was more accurate, like the 5 or 6 little individual lights on the original. It was just easy to guage how charged it was. These are just preferences of mine and don't affect anything. This is my only real gripe. The unbelievably stupid base they put on this! The old one had a solid flat base that held the speaker upright and kept it from tipping over. Not great, but big enough to work well. The new one? As you can see in the photos, they replaced the nice flat base with "stylish" little rubber lines. It tips over pretty easily now, especially if not sitting on a perfectly flat surface. Hello? The whole point of this speaker is to take it anywhere...set it anywhere...they should have improved the base, not made it worse. Other than that? This thing is awesome and I highly recommend it.

Well worth purchasing. JBL BOOMBOX 3 is like the best potato chips, you can’t just have one. I have purchased three of them & I love them. 😍 They are Bluetooth linked and then each individual Boombox is link able to connect with the other (JBL BOOMBOX SPEAKERS) They sound amazing and they are also waterproof.

I decided to take a chance on getting the "renewed" model and I'm glad I did! I see nothing that indicates that this is anything but brand new from the factory- original box, manual, charging cable is sealed, everything appears brand new, never before opened or used. Great way to save $100! Now if you don't care about the hundred bucks and you're just looking at sound quality... WOW. I have a few Bluetooth speakers (it's a sickness), from "basic" value brands up to more well know makers like EcoXGear to Bose, Harman Kardon, etc. I don't have another bluetooth speaker that sounds this good all across the volume range. None. I've never been truly impressed with my EcoXGear Boulder Extreme (it goes back and forth from sounding tinny to sounding muddy unless you're just blasting it) which is super frustrating for a $250 speaker. The best way I can describe the sound it like a Bose SoundLink mini, but with more bass available and a much wider volume range. It just rocks, to the point that I'm probably going to retire the ExoXGear. Also- don't skip on downloading the JBL app! I get burned out on needed to have a separate app for EVERYTHING, but this one is worth it so you can access the three band EQ, which works REALLY well. Super impressed with this speaker!

What a great kick’n speaker. I’m amazed with the sound quality and volume of this little guy. I’ve been a fan of JBL for a long time but they now stepped it up a notch again. Great job!!
