Ten One Design Mountie Side Mount Clip for iPhone/iPad - Green

Purchased for use with my Macbook Air (13 inch, 2013) and my iPad Mini 2 or iPhone 5S and it works perfectly. The iPad is stable whether it is positioned in portrait or landscape orientation although you have to use a gentle touch on the screen when required. I dont use the iPad/iPhone as a second (extended) screen for the Macbook, preferring to let the i-devices take the strain from the computer's cpu when watching a film on iPlayer (or similar apps), YouTube, SkyGo etc. This way the battery of the Macbook lasts much longer away from AC power. Usage note: I dont tilt the Macbook's screen back too far as the extra weight of the iPad could weaken the computer's hinge over time. Also the iPad will twist a bit when the angle of the screen is too extreme - after all the Mountie is only holding it from one side!

When this works it's a great bit of kit, ideal for supporting your iPad next to your MacBook and using it as a second screen however this is my problem with this item. I've had two of them in less than a month and both have now been returned due to them snapping. It's a great idea, it's a great design but it's not robust enough to carry out the intended job. It's a shame as on paper this ticks all the boxes for me, it's just a shame that in real life it's not strong enough to carry out it's intended purpose.

This is a fantastic little product for clipping an iPad to the side of an Apple laptop. I personally paired an iPad Pro 9.7" with a MacBook Air. I used a piece of software on both the iPad and the Mac called 'Duet' to be able to extend my Mac's desktop to the iPad. It's a little fiddly at first, but once you get it sorted it remembers your settings. The clip itself is fairly sturdy and comes with an array different fittings for different iPads/iPhones and MacBooks, so if you own almost any combination of these products there's a good chance this will fit. The part of the clip which extends down is used to prevent your attached device from swinging to one side, or hanging off the side of your screen so that's not an issue. That being said, I did find that the weight of my iPad would push the MacBook's screen backwards unless it was angled just so when the iPad was attached. This does mean that the clip is going to be less useful if you plan on using anywhere besides a desk.It is also not possible to close the laptop screen with this attached (obviously) Overall, this is a great little gadget that does what it is expected to, and it's a great help if you happen to be working in hotel rooms or similar places and need just a little extra desktop real-estate on the fly.

This is the most awesome little product ever. It's such a clever idea. When I first got it out of the box, it was a little difficult to work out how to make it all work, but after 10 minutes of fumbling about and trying different attachments in different ways, I got it working just fine. There are only two potential downsides to the thing which I didn't realise/consider beforehand (and it may be my stupidity more than anything else): 1. It obviously adds extra weight to one side of the display, so if you're working on your lap you're going to need to change your stance/seating position to account for that weight and help even it out otherwise your computer'll be off on a little adventure. Either that, or buy two and clip something to the other side (another iPad or a phone?) 2. The clips don't always keep a totally firm hold, so you occasionally need to unclip and reclip your device into place just so that it sits straight. But that's not a major inconvenience for what it is. This is going to quite significantly boost my productivity - and being able to free up desk space is always a welcome development to my working life.

I bought one of these a few years ago to mount an iPad to a MacBook and I was really impressed. This time I wanted to mount an iPad mini to an iPad Pro 12.9 but the mount was not up to the task. At first everything seemed fine, installation went well with the mount functioning as expected. After around thirty minutes the mount seemed to explode with a loud crack, breaking into three pieces and dropping the iPad mini to the floor, luckily causing no damage. I do not know if this problem is endemic of current builds or was specific to my unit but this is not a cheap item and I expect better.

Ok let’s break it down. I originally gave this 5 stars but since buying 3 I thought I would review....my review. JUST TO POINT OUT I HAVE USED THIS ONLY WITH IPHONE 6 and 7. This product comes with a few different size rubber fittings to cater for different device types and thicknesses. The first one bought lasted me a year and a couple months. I used it nearly every work day of that year and a bit. Mainly for web development and testing my sites across mobile and desktop at once. Also watching programs on there is awesome as you can rotate your phone sideways and it clips on just as nice. It broke due to me being careless and so I bought a replacement. The second one for some odd reason had sizing issues although my phone hadn’t changed, it just didn’t fit. It broke after a week, cracking down one of the front clips where it hangs over the phone (where most of the pressure seems to be applied). I guess I thought I was trying to squeeze my phone in there instead of trying a slightly smaller rubber fitting and so that was 20 odd quid down the pan. My third has lasted me one month and again cracked exactly where it did on my second one and this time I was being very careful not to make sure I wasn’t forcing it in or the rubber fittting wasn’t the wrong one or something. The smallest fitting would make my phone slip out so I used the next one up and sure enough that’s where the crack appeared. It’s hard to review this product because my original one was amazing and this small handy tool sped my website delivery up 10 fold. The quality just doesn’t warrant the price unfortunately. I won’t be buying another and it’s a real shame. Buy at your own risk, who knows, you might get a much sterdier one than I got. 3 stars I reckon. Lose one for cost and one for quality.

Clips onto laptops with ease! Comes with several sizes for padding as to not damage any of your expensive items with a list of which device/s each set of padding is for. Simple as opening the clip, lining it up and closing the clip for it to stick. Once it's on you will not even notice it's there. I use this in conjunction with my 9.7" iPad Pro and my Macbook Pro 13" with no issues whatsoever while using the dual screen application Duet. Easiest way to achieve a dual screen set up without spending a stupid amount of money on some other monitor etc and performs very well for a inexpensive app. Only consideration is the added weight on one side to the laptop, so from a personal view the Pro/Air variants are heavy enough to move the laptop if on any kind of sloped surface such as a bed or sofa however on flat tops it is more than fine. iPad Mini's or tablets of the 7" sizing may be the best way of utilising this device.

My IPad mini fell off twice in 10 minutes. I'm not going to try again. I used the right grips and the additional padding but it's not stable. The idea is good, the implementation not. The additional padding is not sticky enough to stay in place for long. Useless because nobody wants to risk to damage an Ipad.

Es muy potable en la bolsa del portátil. Se adapta perfectamente a los dispositivos que quieras "enganchar" gracias a sus gomas intercambiables y codificadas. Si quieres un look geek en tus reuniones no dejes de comprarlo ;) Cambiando con aplicaciones para Ipad dedicadas a extender pantalla como Duet o Airdisplay es una maravilla.

Tengo un Macbook Air de 13" y desde luego este complemento,junto con una aplicación de dual display,te hacen la vida más facil. La pinza agarra muy bien tanto el ipad como el iphone ( con sus respectivos adaptadores ), y me gusta su diseño.Personalmente lo he usado muchísimo desde que lo compré.

The boxed inside the received package, seem like opened. The colour of box is faded and it seem like stored at somewhere quite some times. When I try to change the rubber clip, found that the plastic has been broken already.
