Great Dimmer Switch…been waiting for this.
Unlike the one reviewer, I don’t think it’s fair to fault Shelly for the lack of inclusion in the Home Assistant Shelly Integration (see update below). Shelly doesn’t provide/code this, the Home Assistant team does. I’m sure once this has been on the market a little longer that will become available. In the meantime there are no issues controlling it with MQTT from home assistant. This dimmer deserves 5 stars because it is built solid and the design looks nice. It doesn’t feel cheap or like it will break easy. It is also UL listed which I haven’t run across in the other wifi switches/dimmers in this range. Important for something that you plan to stick in your wall. The Shelly firmware will allow you to use this with their cloud or you can use it local. Most the other switches lock you to their platforms and servers…bad idea. Unlike many of the other wifi dimmers it also has a ESP32 processor. Why is this important? It allows one to flash their own custom firmware to the device if they so desire. I use Tasmota on other devices but find Shelly’s firmware more than acceptable. But it’s always nice to have a plan B. I popped the back off (torx screws) and verified the ESP32 chip. Construction is nice on the inside and serial pads are large and well labeled. Only real improvement I would like to see Shelly make in the firmware for this is an option for a ramp up and ramp down in dimming. I would love to see Shelly come out with similar smart switches (relay only) in both a standard configuration and 3-way compatible with traveler wires for a dumb switch on the other end for the North American market. Maybe even a fan controller. All in all this dimmer is a welcomed entry into this space when I was beginning to give up on smart home tech. UPDATE ON HOME ASSISTANT INTEGRATION: Developers for Home Assistant have added support for this device to the Shelly HA integration as of the January 2023 build. If it’s not working for you, make sure your home assistant is at least that version or newer. I’ve been using it for a week or two now. MQTT communications also work well. I’ve picked up a second one and it’s been flawless. Hoping to pick up four more in the coming months.

Solid Dimmer compatible with Home Assistant
I have two of these and I love them! Unlike what I've read by other reviewers here, I think the build quality is excellent. I also don't find the status LEDs to be all that bothersome, although admittedly I don't have mine installed in a bedroom. I use mine with Home Assistant and love that they are locally controllable directly rather than having to have HA authenticate through the Shelly cloud service. While I have them set up with the cloud service I really don't use it, as HA can even trigger firmware updates. I do think it would be nice to be able to configure minimum dimming percentage, but that's really just a nice to have, not a requirement for me. I've only had these for a week or so. If they turn out to be flaky and unreliable I'll update this to reflect that.

Remote Dimmer
Easy install and works great in its own or with the app. App is a little cumbersome

FYI - Cannot Turn Off All LEDs
Despite the misleading information on the product page you actually cannot turn off all LEDs on this switch, as of writing this March 2024. You can turn off the LEDs for the square indicator on the bottom end of the dimmer but you CANNOT turn off the LED for the brightness level (little dots running up the center). There are no settings for those. They are very bright. If you have a light sleeper like my wife, do not buy these for a bedroom. They will definitely keep you awake. The company also won't let you post a negative review on their official website... not a good sign. Other than that the switch works great. Doesn't require any hub or hardware. Works perfectly with Google home and home assistant. It would be the perfect switch if you could turn off the LEDs!

Works ok but has some usability issues for non-tech people
these work as advertised but there are some UX choices that make it hard for people not used to tech. First is that when you dim to 0% pressing the switch on and then off does nothing so people think its broken. This leads to the second issue: When someone is trying to get a light that is dimmed to 0% to turn on they hold down the switch. well after about 3 seconds this causes a factory reset to all settings. for the first few months I almost daily had to reconnect them and though it was something with my Wi-Fi or bad firmware. then i watched one of my little kids try to turn it on and realized what was happening. when i told the rest of the family that all said they had been doing that. now after a year people are sued to it but they don't like them and one teen forced me to switch back to a normal light switch. mainly because of the 3rd issue: If you just walk by the switch (like after you open a door and walk into a room) it very easy to brush past it and change the dim setting without really touching the light. So I have been switching to using Shelly Dimmer 2 with a Lutron 5657-2W double rocker center off so that dimming is not accidental and it feels more like a normal switch.

Worst of Shelly's products by a huge margin.
I've had 4 of these for about a year now, and am gradually removing them from my house after a year of hassles and headaches. Most of the issues with these are well documented, but the similarity in name will frequently mix in results from the Shelly dimmers which go behind an existing switch. Those are great products. This dimmer is garbage, limited by poor circuit design. As a result this unit cannot be calibrated, and does not support separate operation of the switch and relay. Because the unit can't be calibrated, your switches will not have a full range of 0-100%. Instead, the bulb will flicker erratically and cut off much higher - 57% for dimmable GE Reveal photography bulbs, leaving only 43% of the range usable. Phillips dimmable bulbs similarly shut off at 51%. Most switches let you calibrate the zero point so you can have the full range, but these stubbornly have no way to set them. I've had guests think there were electrical issues, receiving alarmed phone calls as a result - from 3 different guests. The inability to decouple the relay from the dimmer makes these useless for smart bulbs. This limitation is mentioned in the specs but it's worth being aware of -the switch can never be repurposed to control anything except the light connected to it, unlike normal smart dimmers and relays (most other Shelly products support this.) Finally, beware of asking Amazon Rufus anything about these - take the above two cases. Presumably because of the name similarity to the more functional in wall dimmer, Rufus will incorrectly advise you these are calibratable and can be decoupled from the switch. Aside from that, the plastic creaks and feels brittle and the obnoxiously brought lights on the device have very few adjustments. Save the headaches and don't buy this garbage. Shelly makes some good devices, but this is far from good. Either use one of their behind the switch devices or buy another brand of smart switch - almost any are better than this junk.

Great switches
These are great switches. Looks good. Firmware is excellent and connectivity with HA is fast. It just miss long press and double press action and it would be perfect. The physical “click” of the switch is as not satisfying to use as the dimmer itself, but not a big concern since the switch component is of good quality. My Kids love to play with the touch dimmer, still don’t know if it’s a pro or a con.
