Work perfectly and saved more expensive treatments
I was sceptical this would do the trick however blockage removed in minutes. For months we've had a slow draining shower, tried the usual pour down the drain treatments which had little impact, plungers, air pressure, nothing worked. Deciding to give this a go we removed the drain connecter near the sink as the blockage appeared to be around that point, fed the wire down and hit what felt like a blockage a meter or so down the pipe. Some elbow grease and turns of the handle and all of a sudden it continued to feed down the pipe and water was flowing freely again. Took all of ten minutes and now we're blockage free! It'll take a bit of patience to navigate bends but it certainly worked for us.

Actually working DIY solution for blocked drains
TL;DR: It's a great tool if you don't mind getting messy and dirty. Pros: - Actually works!! - Cheaper and quicker than getting a plumber Cons: - May not fit in the sink holes so you may need to remove the pipes - Can get messy and dirty - Not that easy to clean this product after use - Not that easy to retract the lead once it's fully extended (have to pry off the cap in the middle of the dial and pull the lead back) Detailed review: Really glad that this product solved my nightmare. My kitchen drain was blocked and water runs extremely slow. Tried different liquid solution (i.e. enzymes and branded chemical unblocker) and didn't work. Also tried to take off the pipes that I can reach to clean and appears that the problem is deeper down in the pipes. Didn't want to wait for my landlord to solve this issue for me so I tried my luck with this product. The lead was too big for the kitchen sink holes so I had to remove the pipes first. Didn't have much luck the first time as I didn't know how to make this thing bend. After looking it up on YouTube and I leant how to operate this tool: 1. Discover the bend while feeding the lead into the pipe (You can feel the lead hitting the pipe) 2. Adjust the lead to appropriate length (Give it a little space from the end of the pipe) 3. Lock the lead in place with the screw 4. Rotate the dial while pushing the whole tool (and the lead) further down into the pipe 5. Once it is bend, unlock the lead with the screw then proceed to feed the lead in At last, the end of the lead was full of grease and that seemed to be the problem. Put the pipes back and ran hot water for a minute. The sink is fully unblocked and good as new! Cleaning the product is not easy tho. The whole lead catches dirt and grease on it so I had to brush them off and soak it into cleaning products. Note: I am not a professional and this is my first time unblocking the drain by myself. Hope this review helped.

Works but flawed design. Does not retract like others.
This looks like the kind of thing you see on YouTube but this tool isn’t designed the same way inside, meaning the end is not attached to anything inside so the turning handle does nothing. Basically you unscrew the wing nut and the whole lot comes flying out. Then you have to push it back in manually with your hand. Not nice or useful. Draper what are you doing? No instructions provided. Another reviewer mentioned watching YouTube videos to figure it out; they are not for this product - they are for a different product that looks the same, but that actually work properly inside. After using: it worked, but with a fair bit more effort than I think it should. Adding back a star from original 2-star rating. I modified it by unscrewing the housing and attaching the ring at the very end of the cable to the blue plastic screw channel, keeping it in place to one side. This didn’t allow it to be retracted by screwing but it did help initially when trying to feed the cable back in, to help it coil.

Brilliant!
Plunger hadn't worked, and I'd already disassembled the U-bend to see if the blockage was there but it looked like the problem was further down the pipe.. past 2 L-bends on 40mm drainage pipe. Trying to use liquid drain unblocker looked unsafe since there was no liquid flowing, chemicals would have just come straight out of where the U-bend was and not reach the blockage. After spending a couple of hours trying to scheme a way of either removing some of the water in the pipes to get the liquid unblocker there, I thought I'd take a punt on this. Was worried whether it would make it's way around the 2 L-bends as there was an item like this at twice the price on Screwfix that said it wasn't suitable for going around L-bends. Amazon Prime delivered on the same day for free so this item probably came quicker than a plumber would have taken to schedule in. Within a minute of giving this item a go, water was flowing freely again.. amazing! Like other reviewers have helpfully said - the coiled wire automatically is pushing itself outwards, so just keep turning the handle and it will work it's way through corners.. and then 'screw' through the blockage itself. I left mine out to dry (to hopefully avoid rusting), before pushing the wire back into the handle to coil it up.. then tigtened the thumb screw to keep it coiled. Already looking forward to the next blockage so I can give this bad boy another outing! It's saved a hefty plumbers fee so at £12.10 it was always worth a shot even if it hadn't worked.. or if I need to get a new one for next time.

A Big Flop
I paid a little bit more as wary of cheaper brands so went for draper but sadly the quality was still lacking. Due to a current problem I set straight to it and opened the product. It unravelled very rapidly, I’d say at times quicker than I was expecting. Unfortunately though the problem came when I wanted to wind it back up. It took a bit of effort to get it going but once it started it just continually twisted and took an unbelievable long time to do just half of it. Then after continuing to twist it sprung back and now all I have is a 7.5m length of metal and no way of winding it up. Have to say the thought is there but the final product just isn’t strong or sturdy enough to hold the wire inside. I’ve had the product half a day, had about half an hour use out of it and the rest of the time it’s been on the floor whilst I wonder what I’m going to do with or how I’m going to store a 7.5m length of metal. With this I have to say I would not recommend this product as it has become an expensive flop. I have tools that have lasted years or even decades not just hours.

Learn how to use it and then it’s a great tool
I have read so many reviews mention that the handle doesn’t work. Go on YouTube and see how it’s being used and then attempt to “snake” or unblock your sink. And if the tip doesn’t fit your own specific holes in the drain, doesn’t mean that the product is not good. You can always take out the bits under the sink and go straight into the drain pipe for a much better performance. I have bought it after watching a video on how to use it. It works great and the fact that it’s 7m long is very reassuring. You will get the sink unblocked no problem

The coil is not connected to the drum actually, it's completely loose
Really bad product because you cannot put the coil back into the drum. There is not fixture in the drum that would hold the coil by its "tail". So once you uncoil it out, it's just loose. I've opened up the drum to see if I am doing something wrong, and no, there simply is nothing in the drum that would actually attach to the coil.

Cleared the blockage! - note that 'wind handle' does nothing
BACKGROUND OF OUR ISSUE - We had a problem with our kitchen sink suddenly stopping draining away - taking 12 hours to finally seep away. Checked and cleared the pipes from the sink to the external wall, via removal of U-bend and next to pipe corner sections under the sink; a bit of gunk but not the cause of the blockage. Once all water had seeped away over time, it would take less than a pint to start filling the sink again - clearly not enough to fill all the pipes between sink and the external pipes, so appeared that may have been a blockage further along but the air in between sink and blockage was therefore 'trapped' with nowhere to go, hence our issue even with only a small amount of water poured into sink. As hot water and bleach had not helped, we felt the only remaining attempt before having to call a plumber was to buy a 'plumber's snake' and see if able to clear a potential blockage in the pipe from kitchen outside the flat, as unable to access it directly from outside, where it goes straight into the main vertical drain of the building, the base of which is cemented into the ground. REVIEW (& DIRECTIONS FOR USE) OF "Draper 85630 Drain Unblocker 7.6 M Length" - Bought this tool via Amazon; no instructions but managed to work out a way of using it. The fly screw keeps the long metal cable within the housing; when looking to use, untighten the screw (by hand) and then gently pull the cable out. It 'springs' out a couple of feet at a time, you need to keep teasing it out, depending on how much you want to unleash; careful though, as can all shoot out, so don't do around children or valuables!! I found it best to wait until I had the end in the opening of the pipe, and then to start releasing it. The blue housing has a handle on it but this did absolutely nothing for me, it didn't wind or unwind the cable at all. Once you have released the cable into the pipe and wiggled it about to try and clear bockages, and/or pushed it further by hand to get around corners (try to remove the U-bend and other corner pipes first if you can, makes it easier than trying to navigate the cable around them all), then manually pull the cable back into the housing. Be careful not to let go as can then all shoot back out again. I found it best it to have a sponge in hand so that you can wipe the gunk off the cable as it retracts, and stop it being taken back into the housing on the cable. Once fully rewound, turn the fly screw again until it has secured the end of the cable in place. Although it didn't feel like it had had to fight through much of a blockage, nor masses of gunk coming back out, the tool did the job and - after a few days of anxiety and no fixes - the sink was fully draining again within 15 minutes of the tool being delivered. Cleared the problem, easy to store this helpful tool for the future, and saved on the costs of calling a plumber! Why only 4 stars then? Well, the blue handle doesn't do anything, there are no instructions, and it could be far more user-friendly. Worth the investments though, if you have a blocked pipe problem, and the 7.6m length cable is very handy for reaching inside pipe sections that are otherwise inaccessible.

Avloppsrensare
