A message from Claire RichardsHi, I'm Claire Richards from Steps. Last year I looked in the mirror and at 15 stones I didn't recognise myself, it was a far cry from my days in Steps when I was a size 10. Step(s) up to the challenge - you'll be glad you did!
I've been working out at home for quite some time (mainly with Davina dvds and cardio box type routines)and would say that I'm reasonably fit as a result. But as I have two left feet and always found Steps kinda irritating I didn't exactly rush out to buy this dvd. However, after seeing several good reviews - and hearing rumours about the must-see backing 'dancers' - I decided to give it a shot. And I have to say that 5 Step Fat Attack is now possibly my favourite workout to start the day.Yes it took me three attempts to master ALL the moves but the whole point of a dvd is that you can rewind/pause if need be and that you're going to use it again and again so will get used to them! The best thing for me about this is how fun it is - Claire, the dancers and the production crew all seem to be enjoying the workout and you can't help but get caught up in that. In particular, the instructor Chris does a fantastic job of encouraging you to join in, keep going at the toughest points and 'wake up the neighbours'.Breaking it down: there's a pretty energetic warm up routine which includes some stretching too and an effective cool down. I've never felt any pain/discomfort after this dvd despite its intensity because of these two sections. There's a really fun aerobics section - which isn't too 'dancy' which I was initially afraid of - and will def have you sweating and singing along whether you later admit it or not.My favourite bit is the cardio box section (altho I found a couple of the combinations a touch tricky on the first attempt)which has a lot of kicking and punching while doing a great job of toning your abs.And finally there's a great toning section with various push-ups, crunches, planks and bridges. And one of the extras allows you to do the routine in any order you like which is a bonus!Oh...and yes the dancers (who perform all the same moves as Chris, while Claire does some simpler modifications) are pretty cute...particularly in the combat section when they're just wearing their combats and boots ;)

simply awesome
Okay I have lots of fitness dvds and this is by far my favourite one. You really break sweating and it's pretty fun. The soundtrack is awesome it really gets you going. I've read some 1 2 stars reviews and well... I partly agree with them. Let me explain. Of course if you are +15 stone you won't be able to go through this you should start by an easier DVD (WAGS WORKOUT would be an example... not a lot of sweat but cool for beginers)if you are "fit" and used to excercise well you should definetly go for this DVD. Nobody said Claire did this when se was +15 stone I bet she started just dieting then adding some soft wokout and finally been able to do this. The steps are sooooo easy to follow and they're fun. You get to jump, punch, squad... great, simply great! Another thing you should keep in mind is well... maybe it's just me but I find it very annoying when some skinny girls are there pretending they need to lose weight and showing you the moves tbh... I find this a real challenge as Claire's a real woman and shows you you can behealthy and fit without being a size 0. The presenter is so nice and outgoing! You won't get bored I swear I just can't wait to do it over and over again!!!

A good fun workout
I have bought many exercise DVDs over the years and use them to compliment my other forms of training. I was a STEPS fan so bought this based on the music hoping that would inspire me!To test the effectiveness of the workout I tried this wearing my heart rate monitor to see how hard I was working. I am fairly fit but was working around 70% of my maximal heart rate during the cardio sections. The DVD has basic add on choreography and is simple to follow. The music is upbeat and a pure STEPSfest, so don't buy this if you don't like their music or you want a particular song (unlike another reviewer...) The routines work you without being overly complicated or too hard, although if you are a ardent exercise you may find it offers little progression. Had there been more advanced options then I would have given this 5 stars. Also one point which I feel lets it down is referring to the male dancers as 'troops', and having them dressed in just camouflage combat trousers, I feel devalues that hard work that our real troops do.

Brilliant!
I would really recommend this DVD to anyone looking to lose weight and increase their cardio fitness and stamina. It's great fun once you get into it! I'm not even a Steps fan and I really enjoy doing this work out. There are five sections to the DVD, and the DVD has a 'workout selector' option that lets you choose what sections you want to do, how many and in whatever order you like. So if all five sections are a bit too much at once for you, you can start off by just doing one or two sections, and build it up.This DVD is great for anyone who isn't particularly sporty and is fun to use on your own, or even with a friend. It is a tough work out, though and it will take perseverance and determination for it to work. People who are very unfit or very overweight might struggle at first, but stick with it and build it up at your own pace, in the privacy of your own home. The coach instructing you is encouraging and positive, and seeing how much Claire has changed is also a real determination-booster.I'm nineteen and about three stone overweight. I've been using the DVD for about three weeks, as often as I can manage and I've already noticed I'm finding parts of it a lot easier.

Awful
I was really hoping for good things with this buts it’s awful the instructor doesn’t explain any of the moves or any easy options and Claire looks disinterested- will be charity shopping this dvd and back to Charlotte CrosbyDon’t waste your money
