Does it fit nicely in a front pocket?

It is a bit bulky for a front pocket, i bought it for my husband but he thought it was to bulky so I now use it and I love it, very nice and neat , give it a try if your clothes are baggy you will be fine

The size listed is 3.9 inches long, is that including the outside hook, or just the case itself?

The leather case is 3 3/4 " long. Plenty of room for the new 'chunky' car keys. Two zipped sides. I use the other side for my house key in the event I can't open my garage door. I have had mine for 3 years and it works perfectly and looks brand new.

What is the total keys it will hold?

it all depends how bulky are your keys. there is two compartments. one holds my car key, that's bulky. the other compartment holds four keys. they are not bulky.

Will this hold a couple of credit cards? I want to keep my keys and a couple of cards on me at all times while in the workplace.

This will not hold credit cards. It has 2 zippered compartments but neither large enough to hold a card. It will hold cash.
