I recently added the SmallRig Quick Release NATO Top Handle to my camera setup, and it has been a game-changer for my workflow. One of the best features is the quick attach and detach mechanism. It effortlessly mounts onto the NATO rail of my camera, allowing me to swiftly remove or reposition the handle as needed. This has been incredibly useful for switching between different shooting configurations on the fly. The size of the handle is perfect, especially for someone like me with medium/small hands. The grip is comfortable and fits easily in my hand, making it a pleasure to use during long shoots. The handle also offers excellent versatility with multiple mounting points for adding a monitor and other accessories. This flexibility has significantly improved my rig's functionality, making it easier to set up and use additional gear during shoots. For those using a heavy lens in front, I recommend fitting the handle the opposite way. This helps counterbalance the weight and stabilizes the camera more effectively, making it easier to handle. This top handle with Nato clamp is so handy! I can easily slip it on and off my BMPCC 4K cage, so that my camera fits into my camera bag. It adds next to no weight at all.

Very high quality but not too heavy, and has loads of mounting points including multiple shoe mounts which is excellent. Went for this on an a7IV cage because the nato rail mount meant I could get it on the cage while also using an XLR-K3M with the extension cable

My knees are not what they used to be, but still want to get those low angle shots - this is where this comes in... it's not about the camera, it's all about the shot angle. This well suited on little RX100 as well as my full frame A7 cameras - it just makes handling them a lot easier - either to get a lower angle, keep a steady hand, or just use as a carry handle. Especially when I am using a A7iii with a full loaded battery grip and a 600mm lens and trying to mount that on a near eye level mount. At £29.90 (at the time of review), is seems just about right, but personally would like to see the actual small NATO rail included in the price as well - even if it was just a few quid more, instead of having to go a buy it separately !

First impression: 👀 This is a really good handle and it feels very secure and comfortable to hold with the contoured foam grips. The finish is excellent in satin black, and there are cut outs to lighten the handle. Take note of the 10kg weight limit. The finish was applied without plugs in the threaded holes so the threads are painted, but this does not seem to interfere with fitting accessories. I would have liked the handle to extend a little further beyond the grip as whatever you mount in the rear position at the end of the handle, your hand will get in the way. It’s a minor thing. Installation and use: 🔧 Simply clamp it to the NATO rail with a couple of turns of the small screw handle and you are good to go. The clamp works well enough, but it’s only going to be as secure as the rail you are clamping to and its fixture. There are so many mounting points on the handle, which makes this very versatile. Packaging and delivery: 📦 ♻️ The handle comes in an attractive box and a small piece of bubble wrap. It would certainly wrap up well as a gift for the photographer in your life. Pros: ✔️ Feels secure. ✔️ Comfortable to hold. ✔️ Great looks. ✔️ Many, many attachment points for ¼” and 3/8” as well as cold shoe positions. Cons: ❌ NATO rail not included. Not really a negative as you might already have one, but for the cost it would make the kit complete. Conclusion: ✅ I really liked this handle and it should fit right in to your setup or with a cage allow you to build one up. It is essential for obtaining a low shooting angle. It is a very tactile object and once I have stopped playing with it, I am adding it to my camera. Recommended.

This SmallRig NATO Top Handle is one of the best additions to my rig. The grip feels excellent in hand—secure, comfortable, and perfect for handheld shots. It’s super easy to rig thanks to the quick-release NATO system, and the multiple cold shoe mounts make it incredibly versatile for adding mics, monitors, or lights. Functionality-wise, it checks every box. It’s lightweight but sturdy, and the design makes it fast to adapt or reconfigure on the go. For the price, the value is outstanding. Another solid piece of gear from SmallRig that I’d definitely recommend to any filmmaker building a reliable rig.

Es un agarre adicional si te gusta hacer tomas a ras de suelo, en lo personal me gusta mucho la marca SmallRing porque proporciona una excelente calidad y cuenta con un sin fin de accesorios que puedes ir complementando. Debes considerar que adicional a este accesorio debes comprar un SmallRig 1409 - Barra de Seguridad de liberación rápida de 4 cm de Largo con Tornillos de 1/4" para que puedas usarlo, de lo contrario no funcionará.

Ett av dom bättre handtagen, solid och bra möjligheter till att montera monitorer och tillbehör på. Väldigt bekvämt med gummivadderingen när man bär en tyngre kamera under lång tid då helmetall konstruktioner brukar bli väldigt hala i längden. Ser ingen anledning att välja ett annat handtag över detta.
