The instructions clearly state that this device is not for automotive use - and I have a at least a partial understanding why: At least, for my car, when this device is plugged in, it is *always on*. If you drive your car frequently, and your 12v battery is acceptable, buy this device. If you don't plan on driving your vehicle frequently physically disconnect this device from the 30 pin 'iPod' connector. I purchased a used car and wanted to add a bluetooth connection (would be lots of effort). It just so happened that the previous owner had wired an iPod connector, in the glovebox. This unit was the 3rd of 3 - the first two models from different vendors *did not work* consistently. Once this was plugged in, the auto stereo was configured properly (not easy the first time) and the device was added as a bluetooth speaker to my smartphone (very easy) this device did and does very well. Connectivity is bulletproof, quality high, and functionality superb. JUST REMEMBER TO DISCONNECT IT if you're going to leave the car parked for an extended period!

Does what it should, for those of us that still hang on to the old electronics, like my good speaker, this makes it compatible with my phone

I had an old Bose speaker that I used with a mini iPod. And I haven’t used it for a long time because I didn’t have an adapter cable. But this was a much better solution! It was very easy to install, works well and connected to my IPhone so I can play music. It works beautifully. Now I can use this Bose speaker anytime! I also use it for listening to iPhone messages and make phone calls on this Bose speaker.

This item never worked properly

I have an old Panasonic speaker dock that is made for much older iPhones with the 30 pin connector before Apple changed to lightning cable. This Bluetooth adapter allowed me to continue using the dock to play music rather than just throwing it out. Overall it is decent quality and worked very well.

These work great

Hate that I have to plug and replugged it everytime. I got it to go on a top of a bookshelf so it's a real pain to use.
