Bought this product for my boyfriend as he does not have a DVD drive to play his games on his laptop and he loves it! The DVD drive is ready for use as soon as you plug it in. Works well and reads even his most biggest games. I am relieved to say he was very pleased with it! It is worth every penny I paid for it!

Good condition. On my daughter's Win 8 machine it worked Plug 'n play straight away. Don't forget to put the power cable in first, then the data cable. So far only used for loading CDs onto iTunes and it blasted through that at the rate of 1 CD every 2 minutes. Very quiet too. Instructions seem a little "translated from Chinese" but they make perfect sense and to summarise they just say "insert cables; insert disc; proceed". If you need a piece of kit like this, get THIS piece of kit.

I wanted to be able to record movies from my home TV and play them back on my netbook in my campervan and this product enables me to do that perfectly. However, it is such a shame that the instruction manual is by no means 'idiot-proof' for an elderly technophobe like myself. After spending over 2 hours trying to connect the drive to my netbook I finally realised that what I thought was the 'connection' (don't know if this is the correct name for it)cable was, in fact, the separate power lead, which might or might not be needed. Once I had sussed this out (the manual not being at all explicit in this respect), I plugged in the correct cable and connected instantly. Such a shame about the wasted 2 hours, which resulted in a downgrade of my score from 5 to 4 stars, because the product is brilliant and does exactly what the manufacturer claims.

Hi, Just wanted to say this is the best £20 i have spent in a long time. I managed to get a virus on my laptop after getting the 'Met Police' warning about my computor being locked as its activity was illegal and asked me to pay a large sum of money. Of course i didn't but i followed instructions on how to delete this and things got really bad. As my laptop doesn't have a dvd drive i was 'stuck'. So after a little research i bought this great little item from Amazon and received it very quickly (As Usual) i bought a recovery to factory settings cd, and hey presto, followed the instructions and within 10 - 15 mins my laptop was up and running and better than it was. I have used this external cd drive several times now, installing my Microsoft Word, and other programmes back into my laptop and its just 'BRILLIANT' So Thank You Amazon, such a fantastic price and it did exactly as it said it would. I would definately recommend this item as a must to anyone who has a laptop with no dvd / cd drive, well worth the money and saved a fortune on having to take it to a shop. EXCELLENT.

I can't complain about this drive. It has been working well for some time now. Although I'm not using it constantly, I have used it for longer periods before for creating backups and it has worked for this very well. I haven't come across media (CDs or DVDs) that it doesn't read and haven't had any problems regarding connection speed when using the USB power supply alone. I can't recommend doing this too often, but even moving the drive while it's running has caused much of a problem so far, so the CDs sit in the drive securely enough. It's nothing I'd do all the time though!

I recently bought this item and from the pics on the desciption you can see 2 cables come with it and I only recieved 1.Unaware that the cable I received was a updated cable and was all that was required I sent the usual email to Amazon and within mins recieved a reply explaining the update. I replied via Amazon and told PC Solutions of my mistake and recieved another email ,again within mins telling me that they were sending me the original cables anyway and that I should just keep them as spares.Sounds like good PR to me me guys.By the way the player is excellent and was sent in good time .So these guys deserve ***** from me

Bought this to replace a previous one that I dropped on the floor. I have a Windows 7 64bit Professional PC. Unlike the one I broke, this one will only work with the Data Cable plugged into the USB socket, not with both cables. It's no problem, but I could have thought the Drive was not working and returned it. :-) I bought the Jeff Lynn & ELO DVD that would not work in my Computers CD Drive, but it worked a charm in this one. Very good! EDIT The first Drive was dropped and the casing broke. Bad news! Bought a second one and it stopped working after very little use. Good news! The one I broke is still working. :-(

Absolutely brilliant. Really fast when nothing else running on computer, but still pretty quick if computer is busy doing stuff at same time. Only minor problem is if left plugged in to computer when shutting computer down, computer gets stuck on first screen at load up. Just make sure to unplug this external drive first.
