Overall thoughts on my purchase and view of other reviews.
I for one love the look and style of this watch and how it feel on my wrist. I think a lot of the negative reviews are unjustified or come from people who don't know what the watch does or know how to properly take care of it. While the acrylic crystal does scratch it can easily be polished and buffed out. Don't want to spend $8.50 on polywatch polish? Use whitening toothpaste with a microfiber cloth and it will take out the scratches and buff the crystal just as well. Some reviews claim it didn't work out of the box and I think those come from people who are used to seeing the main second hand constantly moving. The main second hand on this model is for the chronograph and is meant to be used as a stop watch function via the buttons above and bellow the crown. The true second hand is the smaller circle near the 6 o'clock position. Overall I love the size of the watch and how it feels. The leather band feels durable and fits larger wrists well, or can easily be switched out. I'm really happy and satisfied with my purchase, just take care of your watch and it will look just as great as the day you bought it.

Timex Men's Marlin 40mm – TAG Heuer Carrera Looks for Lemonade Money
As someone who appreciates the engineering of a solid chronograph and the heritage of racing watches, the Timex Marlin 40mm is an absolute steal. To put it simply: this is TAG Heuer Carrera style for lemonade money. The Highlights: That "Glassbox" Aesthetic: The way the domed crystal catches the light and distorts the edges of the dial is remarkably similar to the high-end "Glassbox" Carrera. It gives the watch an expensive, vintage soul that punches way above its price point. Modern Wearability: At 40mm, it has the perfect wrist presence. It avoids the tiny footprint of some vintage reissues while remaining slim enough to slide under a dress shirt cuff. Pure Versatility: This watch is a total "strap monster." It looks just as sharp with a suit as it does with a leather racing strap for a more automotive, sporty feel. Observations for the Enthusiast: The Strap: The included leather is a bit stiff out of the box. It breaks in eventually, but if you want that true Carrera look, swapping it for a perforated rally strap or a Milanese mesh makes this watch look like a four-figure timepiece. Crystal Maintenance: Because it uses an acrylic dome to get that authentic vintage curve, it can pick up minor scuffs. A quick two-minute buff with some PolyWatch keeps it looking brand new, so don't let that deter you. Final Verdict: If you love the clean, mid-century racing aesthetic of a Carrera but don't want to drop thousands of dollars right now, the Marlin is the answer. It’s 90% of the look for a fraction of the cost. Highly recommended for any collector who loves a high-value hero.

Timex Marlin Chronograph: A Perfect Fit for Every Wrist
As a female watch collector with a variety of timepieces in my rotation, (fancy and not so fancy) the Timex Marlin Chronograph with its (silver/black) panda dial instantly won me over. The 40mm case size is a sweet spot—large enough to feel modern and sporty but not overwhelming on a smaller wrist - I'm a member of the TWC coming in at sub 6" (see image 1) so was concerned I'd be on the last hole of the strap, but I'm not and it actually looks very balanced given the lug to lug is reasonable and the lugs have a slight retro curve making this wear a bit smaller than it's size . The (kind of) panda dial (I say kind of, because it's silvery face with black subdials, not a true white face with black subs) and sleek black leather strap create a timeless aesthetic, making it a versatile choice for daily wear or dressier occasions. Key Features Movement: Reliable quartz analog movement, offering fuss-free timekeeping. Design: Polished stainless steel case, domed acrylic crystal, and retro-style markers give it a classic midcentury vibe. Functionality: Features a tachymeter for measuring speed and a date window for added practicality. Comfort: The leather strap is supple and adjustable, with quick-release spring bars for easy strap changes. Size: 40mm diameter and 13mm thickness, perfect for a variety of wrist sizes without looking bulky. Pros Stylish panda dial design suitable for any gender. Comes in blue, green and a beige tone face as well and all would be smart on any wrist. Affordable entry into the world of chronographs. The 40mm size is a great choice for women or collectors with smaller wrists. And really the grail size for most men as well. Lightweight and comfortable for everyday wear. Despite the material, I love a good domed crystal, and this one has that perfect retro depth. Cons The acrylic crystal is prone to scratches, so handle it with care - it can be buffed out though. Water resistance (50 meters) limits its use around water. Hand washing ok, showering probably not, pool will be no bueno. Some will complain about the date placement breaking the mid-mod symmetry, but for me, this was a non-issue, but hey, I'm putting it under the cons for the fussbudgets who want perfection and price. Quartz lacks the mechanical charm some watch aficionados prefer. But keeps great time without hassle. Recommendation I snagged this on a black Friday deal and for under $150, this chronograph is a steal. Its retro looks, reliable quartz movement, and comfortable size make it a standout in any collection. Whether you’re new to watches or a seasoned collector who wants to find a classy looking "beater," the Timex Marlin Chronograph delivers style, function, and value in spades. Would make a great gift. I may order the blue or the green face as well, it's just a winner all around. RECOMMENDATION: YES, perfect fit for every wrist and worth adding to the collection!

Beautiful, but must be reset every few days
The watch is beautiful, the green face really shimmers in the sun. Quick minor note for Amazon - for some reason, this watch is listed in the women's department on Amazon. Timex's website lists it for men. Women may like it as well, but it is a men's watch. On the plus side, Amazon sells this watch much cheaper than Timex. The watch works great, I only ever take it off when I shower or working on something that could risk scratching the acrylic. I work from home and have been mostly sedentary recently and yet I'm still giving enough movement that I've never had to wind the watch since it arrived. I've read some folks say the rotor is too loud. I don't have much experience with other automatic watches, so I can't compare. I personally never notice the sound unless I start paying attention to it. Size-wise, I love it. I'm 6'1'' and about 250lbs, I don't have huge hands or wrists and it honestly fits perfect. It appears neither too big or too small. I can't speak for the band that came with it, I'm finnicky with watch bands and typically don't like the feeling of most of them (silicone, metal, leather, etc) and so I replaced it with a cheap nylon "sport-loop" style band and it wears perfect. Now for the unfortunate big con of the watch: it runs way too fast. As I understand this is a flaw for many automatic watches, especially with Timex. How fast? In a day's time, the watch runs about 15 seconds faster and so every 2-3 days it's running 30-45 seconds fast, and that's usually when I stop it to let normal time catch back up. Such is life. I also own a Timex Men's Standard (non-automatic) and it keeps nearly perfect time. However, 2 months after purchase, the Indiglo function went out and it's currently being sent off for repair. (This automatic doesn't have Indiglo function, FYI.) Overall, it's a good watch, just not quite great. Could be a case of you get what you pay for, but still I do wish Timex had a little better quality control.

Worth every penny.
Its a beautiful time piece where pictures do not do it justice. Its quiet in action, and attention getting in its elegance. Love watching the silver face seemingly gather soft light and reflect like a full moon at night. Proof a quality eye pleasing watch doesn't have to equal a month of rent.

Good everyday driver (or beater as you will)
This green dial looks just as good in person as it does in the photos. I didn't think I would like a green dial but when I saw a picture of this on Instagram I knew I had to have it, and I'm not disappointed. The leather strap however doesn't look as good in person, but to be fair I'm used to wearing bracelets, from higher end brands. Also I think the leather is a little stiff and I need to break it in. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to get an aftermarket strap. Which it does have a quick release on, so it's easy to change out. I know these acrylic crystals get scratched very easily, so I'm probably going to baby it. It would be nice if the crown had a Hallmark as well. Having said that this watch is a lot of bang for the buck. I did buy this on Amazon instead of Timex direct because it was $20 cheaper. The problem I had with the particular vendor that sold this, is that this watch was apparently worn before as I can see where the strap had been bent and buckled and creased. The dial still had the protective plastic over it and I carefully inspected it and there weren't any scratches. The box was missing the protective box as well as the sleeve. There was no hang tag attached. The compartment underneath the watch box, didn't contain the manual or warranty card. As a guy who collects watches and eyeglass frames, I'm kind of weird about keeping all the boxes and paperwork. I didn't think it was that big of a deal to return. Having said that, I think I would have paid the extra 20 bucks for the proper items to come with it.

A piece I might keep for a long time!
Very impressed with this watch. It was actually a super deal! If you are new at watches like me, be careful at setting it up. The first pull to the crown is for the date complication, DO NOT move it forward more than the date you need, otherwise this cannot go backwards and you will have to continue with the hands (second crown pull) to go all again over the 31 numbers. If this happens to you, keep on mind it's not recommended to just move the date complication because the movement can be damaged. It's better to move the hands forward from 8PM to 12AM and the date will change, then you should revert rhe hands to 8PM and move forward again, keep the same process until you reach the dated you want. Changed the strap since I was not sure about the one it had by default, although that one was easy release, the color of the leather didn't convince me enough. The one on image is a slip-thru from Timex, it fits perfect and it's so comfortable. If you get this watch you won't ever regret the purchase. So happy with it!

Really nice looking watch
I bought this new Marlin watch to complement my original Timex Marlin from 1969. Far better quality than the original, and just as good looking.
