is it possible to put TWO of these onto an external filter at the same time?

just use one of these and turn your main filter in to lava rock with a polishing pab in the top basket with some carbon and it should be ALL the filtration you need. you should not need more then one of these things as the foam dose all the hard work. If you want extra get a Fluval Edge Pre-Filter Sponge (or one similar with only one hole) and stick it on the intake pipe.

Want to use this one as a pre-filter for mech. filtration before ef 1000-aps.is it easy to connect them?pipes? all the help is welcome, please.:)

It is very easy, just use the green tubing you get with the ef 1000. Videos are also on YouTube

Do the taps have a quick disconnect? Eg turn the tap off to stop flow then disconnect from the unit or do you have to remove the pipe from the tap

The taps have threaded connection and you don't need to remove the pipe when cleaning is reqiured. Please bear in mind that the unit has ony one tap for each pipe and the water inside the canister will flow when the taps are disconnected.

Does it come with hose to connect to my 1400EF+ ?

Information given by a customer saying u need a 16-18mm hose is incorrect I bought this size and does not fit connectors, even placing in hot water first do not make the same mistake..
