your meet by a beautiful little case once you lift the case lid
Really quick delivery, and then you have to open the box to see what you have, once you open the box, your meet by a beautiful little case once you lift the case lid, you get your 1st look at the razor, it is smaller than what you picture in your mind before you order it, but once you pick it up you feel the quality. Now you have the razor in your hand you just have to put a blade into it and try it, I'm not going to lie to anybody, you do have to practice to find the right angle to shave, the hardest thing not to do is to add pressure as that is what you have done with all the fancy razors you own (you know the 1's i mean). You take your 1st stroke of the blade against your skin, and it feels so different, it feels closer and then you remember that you can twist the whole razor around so that you can use the other shaving edge. This little razor will change the way you feel about shaving, it is a quality razor, from a quality company, and then you have the major bonus of the cost of replacement blades, and the best shave you can ever give yourself.

A cut above (hor hor hor) The best a man can get (hor hor hor) The sharpest tool in the drawer (hoooor hor hor)
I started my shaving days with a Gillette Mach 20 Turbo Extreme Power Force Whoosh but found that the heads were obscenely expensive and too cumbersome to get those hairs under the nose, so I switched to cheap disposable Bics which were fairly decent for the price but were very hit-and-miss in quality with my face taking quite a few hits from rough blades. I've finally found the perfect middle-ground between value for money and quality; under £10 for 50x2 blades (well over a year's supply) with terrific precision and not a single drop of blood spilled. Barely any pressure is needed for a close shave which means less irritation too. This is definitely the way to go. Also less plastic getting dumped if you care about the turtles... though I suppose razor blades aren't eco-friendly either... As the the product itself, it's very sturdy and well made with a nice case to keep it dry. Not much to say really, which is the manliest form of approval for a manly man thing.

An excellent, affordable choice for those wanting to try safety blades without spending a lot at first.
Firstly, I have a bit of a suspicion about the number of reviews for this item. 500+, and many of them a 5*, with just a short, positive, rather generic comment. Looks a bit too much like paid for reviews for my liking. That said, the item itself. I was new to DE shaving. But obviously I knew it all. First shave I looked like Sweeney Todd had been doing the job, and my basin water had turned pink/red. Smooth shave though (almost to the bone). So, I went back to the University of YouTube, worked on my lather, didn't press so hard, shorter strokes. Bingo! I've still had the odd nick and cut, but much fewer, and nothing a styptic pencil doesn't sort out. I think this razor is a great starter razor. I get the sense that there are better razors out there, and I am reasonably sure that I will eventually move on to one of the better models. I think I will look for something a little heavier and with a longer handly, but this DE shaving thing is very much about personal experience, so each to their own. But I wanted to try the DE shaving approach without spending much money, and this fits the bill perfectly. I suspect this one will eventually become a travel razor, as it has a neat little travel case and is quite small. But for me, £10 to buy this was a good decision. There's a lot of joy around the other ointments, lather and blade choices. I am shaving with Wilkinson blades (a pack of 5 to test out). These are fine, but I have not tried anything else yet. I am using the Proraso later (green jar), which has been excellent, and the Proraso pre/post shave balm, which is a virtual eruption of menthol/eucalyptus on your face after shaving. I really like it. BTW, I have previously used the Boots own name brand shaving range. I even used their cartridge shavers, which weren't bad. But the Boots shaving soap in a black bowl is excellent and very well priced. It also comes in a squeezy tube, which was also excellent. There's even a brushless version of the shaving soap in a tube - I bought it by accident, but it was pretty reasonable if that was all that was left in the cupboard. So, if you spend less than £10, you won't get the best item available. But this is an excellent choice to get started and trial the DE shaving approach. EDIT: I have now been using this for about 5 months. I have also purchased other much more expensive razors from reputable brands. There's no doubt that the reputable brands make some excellent razors. However, there's absolutely nothing wrong with this cheap little number at all. It is my go-to razor for head shaving, as it is mild enough to race over my head to get a good, close shave with little risk of nicks and cuts. At the same time, with a sharp blade in it, you can get a very, very good shave on your face. If you want to start DE shaving on a low budget, you really can't go wrong with this.

Smooth as silk
This product would be ideal as a birthday/anniversary/ christmas present for any man who shaves. I've been using mine for a month or so now and I forgot what a pleasure shaving can be. Don't be fooled by all the slick advertising from the big name manufacturers of shaving products, who charge you a small fortune for 4 razors for their over priced product and sucker you in to paying £100's a year. Ditch those plastic fantastics and get back to a real man's razor! This razor comes nicely packaged and the box has a built in mirror in the lid too. Its very well made, heavier than it looks in the hand which I find reassuring but in fact the razor is smaller than I expected at first, but this just makes it that much more controllable when in use. Arrrived very speedily after I ordered it. Its an ideal wetshave razor to use. Initially I had some issues sourcing the razor blades for it, but a quick look around Amazon or ebay and you can find them. I bought a bag of 100 razor blades for just under £10 on ebay. Given that the razor is double sided, it will last you a week before you need to replace the razor. £10 for 2 yrs worth of shaving. No brainer.

This is a quality machined item in a nice high grade metal
This is a quality machined item in a nice high grade metal. It comes in an upmarket little black hard cover case with an internal mirror. Not sure how useful this would be as it is small, but it is a nice touch. The handle is quite short so has to be held in finger tips rather than in the fist, but I am getting used to this now. Would be nice if it came with some included blades, but this would then make it an age restricted product, with signed for delivery, (which for me usually necessitates a half hour drive to the "local" depot through London traffic, so better for me). The use of a traditional blade means you need to be a little bit careful with this shaver. With too much pressure or a careless scrubbing action you can get cuts, razor burn or some quite extensive damage as I am just finding out to my cost :)). A few decades of using multi bladed wire protected and guarded techno delights has made me negligent when shaving. Will not be going back to the "safe" alternative as they do not shave effectively and this slightly riskier version does the job first time. Nice little shaver, recommended.

Perfect!
I'm a barber with 23 years experience so I'm no stranger to razor blades yet I've never used a safety razor before. After doing a bit of research I settled on this as an entry into DE shaving. I usually use Feather brand blades when performing wet shaves on clients but with this being my first time with this type of razor I used bog standard Wilkinson Sword blades. For the actual shave I used the same technique as I use on clients, Hot towels, good soap (Prorazo) skin tensioning and short precise strokes. And the end result was nothing short of fantastic, I can honestly say that I have never had a more comfortable shave, no nicks or cuts, and one of the closest shaves I've ever had, that includes cut throat shaves I have had from colleagues. I would even consider buying a couple more of these to try on clients.

This razor is beautiful & gives a gorgeous shave
I bought this razor after seeing Mikila on You tube mention it during an eco swaps video. I'm trying to cut out as much single use plastic as possible so decided to treat myself to one. It's stunning looking, good and hefty in weight which screams quality and it gives an amazing shave. I've only nicked myself a couple of times but there's bound to be a learning curve with this type of razor and my legs feel super smooth. When I showed hubby I swear he had razor envy so I may well buy him one at Xmas. I also really love that it comes with such a nice travel case as it will be coming on holiday with me every year.

A beginners review.
This is my first DE razor so I can not compare it to others... yet. What I will say is I have just achieved the best, closest shave Iv ever had and I’m still a abject amateur. Like seriously I can’t stop touching my face! When it arrived I was surprised by how heavy it felt, certainly for the price. It’s not at all flimsy and finished in a nice chrome, the pictures don’t really do it justice. It’s also smaller than I expected. Iv been watching youtube videos for a while in the run up to my DE arriving and I really recommend you do the same if your new to this. I brought this with 50 Gillette platinum blades, which since doing more research I’m a little annoyed with myself for. There is nothing wrong with the blades at all, just since purchasing them Iv found out every blade works differently with every razor. Part of the fun is finding the right combination for your face. With 50 blades and each blade able to last 4 maybe 5 shaves (possibly more with my light beard) it will be a fair old while before I use them all up whilst never experimenting. I may buy some more anyway and keep the Gillette’s too which leads me on to my next point. If your looking at this from purely a money saving venture over cartridge razors you WILL save money if your strict. my 50 blades were cheap (£12) and as Iv mentioned before gave the closest shave Iv ever experienced! Part of the reason I changed is because I was sick of the price of blades, however be warned! Iv now started looking up pre shave oils, artisans shaving creams, Japanese blades of death, new post shave balms, alum bars, new fancy razors, in short shaving has become an even that I actually look forward to! In summary, a brilliant cheap little razors that’s surprisingly well put together. I can genuinely see it lasting a life time if looked after correctly. The carry case is smart and useful if a little flimsy and the mirror is a nice touch but useless. Definitely worth the money as a starting point.
