These were great. I bought them in desperation as my son’s latch is painful for the first 20-30 seconds and then settles. He is 3 weeks old and I really didn’t want to give up BF him. I do recommend that you see a lactation consultant or visit a local BF cafe to check for tongue tie or shallow latch before using these. Pain on initial latch is normal. Pain throughout the feed isn’t.Pros- makes it easier for baby to latch- reduces pain on initial latch- makes BF more comfortable- helps with the dread of feeding when initial latch is painful- helps with continuing BF during early weeks- protects nipples during first few weeks of BF or if your baby has been cluster feeding and your nipples are worn downCons- can fall off or baby can knock them off your nipple if they’re worked up and very hungry- might be tricky when out and about and trying to feed a hungry baby as they can be fiddly to get on and keep onOverall I like having them as an option but I don’t use them all the time. They would be tricky when out and about as it’s a lot of effort to put them on and then get baby on. They can fall off too.The BF brigade don’t recommend them but do what works for you and your baby. These allowed me to carry on BF which can only be to my baby’s benefit.

My wife swears by these! Can be easily sterilised too in a steam bag or similar.She found it hard to find the right size but we settled on medium in the end.They really help draw the nipple out and make breastfeeding so much easier especially if you have flatter nipples. The shape is perfect to allow baby to have contact with her, and also not suffocate himself. They also creat a good seal against the skin so as to now allow any milk to leak down.I’d say bear with them, they can be fiddly but you soon get the hang of them!Great value for money, and they come with a little case too to keep them protected and clean.These have made breastfeeding so much easier for us

These would work wonderfully for a mother and child whose baby doesn’t mind a baby bottles. I brought this to see if I could get my baby to latch onto my breast in hopes my baby would then latch onto a bottle but that didn’t work for us. These would be grate for dry and blistered nipples too. I did find the nipple was a bit long compared to mine but all nipples are different.

I bought these as my left nipple is flat and i was struggling to get baby latched. They are nice quality and come in a handy case. I do find i struggle to get them to stay on and have to hold it. You cant use nipple balm under them as they just slide off. They are comfortable and easy to clean with soapy water. I do find they are a bit long, beyond where your nipple goes so milk collects in the end and if your not careful spills everywhere as you remove. I learnt to get baby to drink it before removal. The only thing id say is they are good to get baby latched but try not to rely on them for every feed otherwise youll struggle to feed without them, baby might develop a preference for the shape.

These shields have saved my dream to breastfeed!I was in agony after a few days of feeding without using nipple shields so we got some Tommy Tippee ones from the supermarket - they were pretty rubbish and baby was finding it hard to latch onto them.When I was getting really frustrated trying to use the Tommy Tippee shields, my husband did some research and ordered these Medela ones. I can't recommend them enough!The silicon is really thin and therefore feels less intrusive, the taller teat shape results in a more natural latch, and there is even a gap in the material for baby's nose to rest on the breast and breathe more naturally. I use them every day - they only require washing with soap and water between feeds, and 5 minutes' boiling in a pan once a day (rather than soaked in boiling water between every feed like the Tommy T ones) and have a useful little box to store them in and carry in your bag/pocket discreetly if you're going out.Best of all, I feel virtually no pain any more when feeding, and my nipples are progressing almost as well as if I weren't using shields, meaning I can actually breastfeed without them occasionally and it feels almost the same as with the shield - they just tend to begin to hurt a bit after a few feeds again, which I suppose is to be expected. Not even half as painful as it was initially though.I would happily use these shields throughout the 6-12months of breastfeeding if I felt I had to.So, pick Medela!

These have been essential for my breastfeeding journey.

These were recommended by the infant feeding team when we were readmitted with jaundice. I have inverted nipples which meant baby would really struggle to latch, and stay latched, on the breast. I prefer this design to another that we had as it has a gap. The IFT nurse recommended positioning the shield so that the gap on the shield is in line with baby’s chin so skin to skin is still possible. While I’d prefer not to need the shields (they can be a bit messy when taken off and baby sometimes pulls at them causing them to come off), they’ve really made breast feeding possible for me ensuring baby gets a decent feed. I’ve ordered multiple sets so that we always have some available. They are easy to wash and sterilise and come in a handy little container for travel.

I rarely leave reviews, but I had to for this. It’s an absolute lifesaver for nursing mothers, especially first-times! Truly grateful to the team behind this incredible product. Highly recommend!

Saved me from having to stop breastfeeding, I started using these when my son was only 1 month and I couldn’t handle the pain from cracks and sore nips. My midwives advises against this but I’m glad I trusted my gut because I’m going on 3 months breastfeeding now pain free!
