I want to place this inside a speaker box. When you switch on / off at the power supply does the unit itself stay in ON position?

Yes, it has an old fashioned manual switch that slides, and stays slid.

How do you switch input/source?

You simply plug or unplug your input cable to suit. If you switch on without a cable plugged in to the Aux port, it announces 'bluetooth mode', if you do the same but with an input cable inserted, it announces 'AUX mode'...very clever and simple really...

Does the usb power a chromecast audio?

It works with Bluetooth for phones etc but if you want to use it as a surround sound amp you can plug an aux into it and plug the chrome cast in the TV. The Bluetooth is pretty solid and also has good sound quality. I've used it as a pre-amp into an active sub to support larger speakers and works great.

Can i turn off the input announcement? it is loud and i only use one input and it has to shout it at me every time i turn it on

I must admit I haven't found a way of switching the announcement off, but my equipment is plugged into a PC acting as a music server which only reboots once in a blue moon, so I've learned to live with it. Hope this helps. Best regards.
