Great colours, great coverage even on red hair unbleached, easy to use
really good coverage, easy to use, 3 washes in and still going strong I have red hair, naturally, and as any hairdresser will tell you (they kept telling me!) Red hair is an absolute pain to dye. I have recently become disabled and can no longer go to the hair dressers due to nerve damage, and so thought i would try dyeing my hair at home with help from hubby. I have tried Loreal xxl, fudge, and manic panic and they were all disappointing in colour, and in 2 cases just ran all over the shop, staining bedclothes and my clothes but not doing much to my hair. I tried the directions hair dye, bought here on amazon.co.uk from beautifulu2014, not expecting much as the price was so good (£10.38 for 4 pots!), but chose this because of the great selection of colours. I have used the DARK TULIP and PLUM and it was easy to paint on, covered really well, did not drip all over the place, and i am now 3 washes in and the colour is still going strong, even on my naturally dark red hair i do NOT bleach my hair before dyeing, firstly that is an extra faff and secondly, no matter what bleaching product you use, it damages your hair. I did leave it on longer than stated, I left it on for the same time i left the others - 3 hours - and the dye really worked well and the colours are brilliant and deep, and most importantly the colours match the swatches on the picture, without bleaching, so i would highly recommend this product and am looking forward to the other colours i bought. the tubs look small, however I only used about a third of each pot to cover my hair. So if you were using just one colour, not two like me, that would mean 2/3 of a pot to cover my hair. I have short back and sides and long top half of my head, so if you have longer hiar you might need more, but if you buy from the seller I mentioned above you get 4 tubs, of any colours you like, so plenty to cover even really long hair, my husband is 6ft4 and can sit on his hair and I would think 3 tubs would be more than enough to cover his hair, leaving a tub spare for tough ups.

OH MY!!!! This stuff is BRIGHT! XD
So i decided at 33 i've had enough of permenant box dye colour. Used to play around with non and semi permenant colours but they never lastet long, pigment wasnt strong enough and any pillow i had would be multicoloured! Decided to try la riche Directions as it seems less expensive than Manic Panic but reviews all over seemed good. My hair previously had brown roots and a lot of faded red/purple mids to ends. After bleaching 2 times (leaving it a week in between), with 30vol developer and rapid blue bleach powder (leaving for no longer than 20 mins as it got hot fast!) and using a conditioning hair mask, my hair was light blonde in places, but still had orangey parts and damaged on the ends! After a trim, i noticed one bit underneath was just stubborn and did not want to lighten so it stayed an orangey pink where i wanted to put the blue, but i didnt want to push the bleach anymore! Decided i would choose a mix of some deeper colours and brighter colours in case the orangey tones messed up the colours too much. I did shampoo my hair with elvive low shampoo and gently squeezed out the excess water with a towel before dying. The top half of my hair, which i seperated an inch above my ear, i did Dark Tulip at the roots going into Flamingo Pink from mids to ends. The under half of my hair i did Turquoise at the roots going into Lagoon blue. Now i have had many experiences with blue dye just turning mucky green and was always disappointed, but this is so AMAZING! The turquoise i would happily have over my whole head it is the kind of green hue that is like an emerald green with more blue in, love it. It worked really well over the more orange part of my hair too. Lagoon blue is stunning, again a deeper colour but not too dark and not too light. The Dark Tulip is a deep beautiful ruby purple that leans more to the red side and looks stunning with the pink, and oh my gosh the Flamingo Pink!!! Wow 😍 love the deeper pink, it goes so well with the rest and can be seen a mile away! So if you havent guessed i love these colours, they are thick enough in consistency that its not running off and painting your bathroom with every hand movement, but thin enough that a little goes a long way. As most people have said, and its no surprise, it does stain! A day later my hands are mostly back to normal colour but it has stayed under my nails and a little around my forhead. I always forget to try the vaseline around my hairline to prevent it. Dyed the bottom blue half of my hair first, rinsing it out with just warm water and pining it back up before I done the top pink half. After doing a gentle wash with a little Elvive Low Shampoo i found that there was no crazy amount of dye coming out even with it being the first wash. I had one 88ml pot of each colour. After doing my whole head i have 2/3rds left of each 88ml Dark Tulip and Turquoise, and 1/3rd left of the Lagoon Blue and Flamingo Pink. Plenty for touch ups! Went to bed with a towel over my pillow and slightly damp hair, woke up to no colour on my towel 😱 Speechless! Very excited to see how long this lasts using low shampoo and probably washing my hair twice a week at most. Will update this review if i can. Enjoy your colours beautifuls! ❤️

Best Buy by far!
Having tried many (if not all!) the different hair dyes out there over the years, this is the only one I will use now. At the moment, I am blue. I get the best result by mixing Atlantic Blue with the Midnight Blue. You get a bright and pretty result that still look great even when fading, so you don't need to dye as often! NOTE: If you are using Atlantic Blue, make sure your hair has no yellow tones, or it can go green!! It still looks cool, but if in doubt, mix with a darker blue, as this will cover the yellow and leave you with a better, brighter blue result :) For the best results, use on bleached hair (it's more porous and absorbs the colour better). Shampoo your hair first with a ph neutral shampoo / or one that strips your hair. Whilst damp, apply the colour to the roots with a tint brush. Then continue to add the dye to the ends (whilst wearing gloves!! VERY IMPORTANT) and brush through. Make sure you brush well, as this emulsifies the colour and makes it take better. Apply a little more dye, and leave as long as you can (I usually leave mine around 3 hours - the longer you leave it, the better it lasts!). I tie mine up with a clip, and heat with a hairdryer to stop the drips! When washing the colour out, use conditioner only. This will help the colour last even longer. Be very careful... This product stains! Make sure you apply vaseline around the hairline before you use the dye, and have some stain remover wipes handy (from Superdrug for 49p). Best used after rinsing your hair...and also in the days following, when it comes off on your ears/face!! ;) If you're bleaching directly before dyeing, make sure you rinse the bleach out with shampoo (NOT conditioner as the dye won't take!), and make sure it is well washed, as any bleach remaining will affect the outcome of the colour. The colours can also be kept in a sealed container for as long as you need to. I have had some fantastic responses and comments on my hair... My favourite ones from the kids in my village who know me as 'the lady with the blue hair'. It's very sweet, but can be annoying on days you want to blend in with the crowd! Totally worth it tho :) Always use this seller. Fantastic that you can mix and match the colours, and delivery is super speedy.

Great when I dip dyed my hair
I brought 2 tubs of directions hair dye when dip dying my hair blue. I already have quite blonde hair which can be sort of brassy in some parts but also very light in others, and because I didn't really want to damage my hair , I did not bleach it before hand. The colour still came out. I mixed conditioner with the dye before I put it on my hair hoping that it might come out faster , but then I decided to dye back over the top of it without mixing it with conditioner as it was already fading quite fast, and I wanted it to last a bit longer than that. Because my hair is sort of yellow-blonde and not bleached white, when I applied Atlantic blue onto the ends, predictably it went more greeney. To fix this, I mixed it with directions violet so the very ends would be more blue. What I did was : 1) mixed Atlantic blue with very small amount of conditioner and put it all over where I wanted it dip dyed . I blended it up so my hair faded into the colour 2)mixed the pure Atlantic blue hair dye with the pure violet hair dye and put that about three quarters of the way up the part that I already dyed, then blended it . 3) I left this in for 3 hours (you definitely don't need to put it on for that long, I just left it anyway) , and then washed it out. The result was a darkish green-blue which faded into a really dark blue. I love the result so much. I don't know how long it will last but 2 years ago I did it with lagoon blue (only went a light green, would not recommend on unbleached blonde hair if you actually want a stand out blue) and it lasted 3 weeks and sort of stained and never really came out. Therefore I'm guessing that over 6 weeks when I leave this one in, it will fade but stain my hair (I'm fine with cutting it out anyway). Overall : very good hair dye, does not damage hair, shows up well on light blonde hair , lasts a long time, smells okay, good for blending and mixing.

Yay! hair dye!
I ordered these from The Rock Collection as I've ordered from them before and they are very good. My products arrived 2 days later; I ordered vermillion red, rubine, pillar box red and poppy red as I couldn't decide on what shade I wanted! I had to use 3 since I hadn't realised how long and thick my hair had gotten (past my shoulder blades) and I also put the dye on dry hair rather than damp hair as the instructions suggest. I mixed the vermillion red and 2 rubine dyes (I had a spare rubine already) to get a lovely dark red which I hoped would fully cover my brownish roots and the faded purple ends I had. Anyway, it covered both my roots and my ends (I left it on longer than suggested as well); the ends are slightly darker as I already had purple on them but it looks like I did it on purpose. I must warn you that the dye will stain EVERYTHING, it looked like a massacre in my bathroom after I had finished and I had to scrub everything down after, just be mindful of it getting on anything and try and wipe it off asap. I covered my hair in cling film to avoid staining any furniture or flicking it about accidently, the dye also takes ages to rinse out, you're supposed to rinse it until the water runs clear but you'll be under the water for hours so do the best you can! Overall I think directions dyes are really good, I've also used manic panic in the past but I think directions are just as vibrant and are cheaper. Be aware of how much hair you have, if it's longer than a short bob its likely you'll need more than one. If you fancy a go at a bright colour change I would recommend directions.

Fantastic product, great seller
As you can see, great colours that are easy to use and last well (shampoo in cool water to help them last longer). The pinks and reds seem to last well for me, as do the blues. In fact the blue lasted over 3 months, with the pink fading out to a candyfloss pink over that period. I like the La Riche Directions colours for their wide range and ease of use. No mixing, no fuss, just follow the instructions and put onto pre-lightened hair. They will dye anything they get on while you're doing your hair, so be careful not to get them on any clothes you like or the floor etc. I once dyed the shower a lovely shade of flamingo pink, which took some serious hard work and plenty of bleach to remove. Explains how and why it lasts on my hair.

wow!
I've never given semi permanent hair dyes much thought as I've always used permanent for the last 15 years. I didn't think semi's would hold in my porous and frizzy hair, but I wanted to try to achieve the 'oil slick' look so thought it was worth a try. But I swear this stuff is made of magic or something! I'm so impressed with it and I cant believe I've managed to achieve the look that its given. Its so easy to use and I expected to have blonde patches where I missed spots, but I haven't at all as the substance covered and spread so well. I wasn't sure how long to leave on for (online people recommended up to 4 hours) so I left it 1 1/2 hours to see what would happen. With no nasties in it, it hasn't done any damage to my hair at all. When rinsing, a lot of colour came out, so as you would think 'the colour hasn't held', I was shocked to see it had! My bath is now stained a nice shade of purple but I don't care. All the shades have come out bright and my hair is so shiny. Its more of a 'galaxy' look rather then 'oil slick'. I curled it the next day and have so many nice comments on it (and of course have recommended Directions to them!). I've just re washed my hair again to get any remaining colour off my scalp and once again, even though the water turned purple, the colour has help brilliantly. And the fact that its not mixed, you can re seal the pots and use again next time. I only used the top 3rd for my mid length hair. Few things I would recommend: 1) this stuff can get anywhere so be prepared with towels and gloves etc. 2) if you are doing a few different colours and don't have the flat brushes to keep colours seperate, I used a very old towel on my lap and kept wiping my gloves on it to get excess off, to use another shade 3) wear gloves when you rinse or you will get dyed hands and nails 4) rinse with luke warm water so that the heat doesn't take out the colour

Great dyes!
Very happy with my purchase. Items were delivered a few days early, which was great! (ordered on a wednesday, came on monday, eta was the friday after) For those concerned about how to contact the seller about the colours of choice; Don't worry, it's really simple. Just buy the item, and then click contact seller and customisation of item and tell them in there what colours you would like! I have used the dyes, and I love the colours. They're lovely and vibrant and even though the tubs are small (well, not small, I just thought they were bigger because I've never seen them in person) I've still got loads left of each colour after dip dying my hair. The dyes are very good, my hair feels conditioned and soft. They don't leave hair brittle or dry. Only bad thing is the lack of help with ordering the colours, and that after you've contacted the seller about your chosen dyes, they don't reply to confirm the order. I would order them again (if I need to, I still have loads of the dye left!) and I'm very glad I ordered these. Great price and amazing quality!

Good product, good seller
This dye is the best one available. My hair is fine and I don't bleach first. I get good gray coverage for about a month, and the dark colors (plum, rubine, etc) leave a reasonable color on my remaining dark hair. There's no added scent to the product, which is a huge reason I use it. With any dyes, but especially direct-deposit (no developer), it's a different experience for everyone. This though is a cheap and easy place to start, and the manufacturer has been in business for 30+ years. Hardest part of the order is navigating Amazon's mess to contact. I have ordered a few times and shipping is good. Jars have leaked a little on one shipment, but that's manufacturer, not seller. There's no secondary seal on the jar, so the air pressure from shipping can do that. Price is way better than anywhere else on amazon or in a beauty store. Jars are small, but manufacturer is increasing size a little, and soon. Price/mL is still one of the least expensive out there. Order multiple in the same color if you have thicker hair.

super option

Best seller, best dye
Directions is my go-to for my white hair. It gives amazing results time and time again, and gives my my perfect shade of white that i desire. i’ve tried a couple other white toners, and they ether fade weird, don’t stick, or are patchy. Your hair has to be very very light in order for this color / product to work. I do use chemical toner to lighten my hair to the lightest yellow possible, before using directions conditioner based white toner to get my snow white hair. This seller is extremely helpful, and i have been buying from her for a couple years now. The 4x tub at such a great price in comparison to any other deal for this brand on amazon, and i’m very grateful to have this product in my life. Ps, their Violet dye fades to the most beautiful silver. 10/10 could not recommend more.

Bonne affaire.
